I love this place so much. Interesting vegan menu, delicious desserts and cold brew coffee. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Delicious pizza and the mushroom burger was pretty good. Pleasantly surprised by the blueberry komboucha tea (first time my husband and I had tried some). The place is tucked in the back of a small center, mostly full of yoga, and healthy eats. All of the other patrons appeared to be locals and those seated at the bar were making happy conversation with the lady and gentleman who were serving. The service was good. What was slightly strange, though, was that the gentleman helping us, left to assist a lady (probably a local patron) who came in after us to take her order. She had snagged one of the last 2 remaining tables, which made me make a nervous beeline for the last one, which was by the window. It was a warm spot (which I didn't mind), and the servers offered to lower the shade for us in case it wasn't comfortable. Will go back next time in Maui! read more

On my recent trip to Maui I was curious to visit a place that brews their own kombucha. I was pleased to find not only delicious samples of diversely infused kombucha available on tap, but also an extensive menu of smoothies, delicious and healthy raw food items like the live lasagne (so delectable I licked the plate!), and amazing raw desserts in their cooler such as coconut cream and key lime pies. Way too pricey and too overhyped. Their Kombucha flavors are great but are overcarbonated and light. Food is not organic but priced as organic produce, with likely 60% or more margin on each bowl or food. Must add that the (overpriced) peanut butter & chocolate pie is delicious! Staff is nice, decor is alright but the most disturbing is the acoustics in the place. Honestly it's like a bar and does not have a vegan vibe to it at all. OK...maybe I'm biased because they are set up in the back of the building where my office is, but....its still amazingly delicious! Its crazy what they can do w/ raw foods. I had a zucchini pasta that tasted just like real spaghetti and meatballs. And the living lasagna....you're tongue better be ready for amazement! Maui Kombucha has some of the most nourishing food on the island. I was very impressed with the raw pesto wrap. The actual raw wapper was fantastic and left me curious as to what it was made of. It reminded me of sun dried tomatoes and nuts. Yum. The salad we share was beautiful and had edible flowers sprinkled in. And, of course, the kombucha was quite a treat. I think it is very kind that they allow you to sample the three kombuchas of the day in order to decide which is your favorite. Maybe it was because we had just flown in on an early flight that morning and looked like a mess, but I felt like the service wasn't was friendly and welcoming for a place as small and intimate as it is. This review breaks my heart! I am a HUGE Maui Kombucha fan. We've been going since they were over in the other building.​ But the business operation has become quite a problem for us. To be fair, I'll be clear on my issues. PROS: I love the food. In fact, it is my opinion, that the food here is probably the best on the island. Whenever friends and family visit, I take them here. I had a client fly in for a 9-day​ intensive, and they literally ate there EVERY DAY on their visit. I am currently plant-based, and probably have Maui Kombucha to thank (partially) for that. Even when I was a major carnivore, I loved coming here. The food is FANTASTIC. The acai bowls are​ hands down, the BEST. I don't even order acai bowls from other places now because I am always disappointed. Two words....Coconut Meringue. Yummy! Healthy, vegan, and gluten-free​ options make up the entire menu. They always have ono specials too. Watermelon poke! I mean, come on!! They do a bagel with "lox" made from carrots...it was divine! Not just because it's vegan. I mean, by any standards, this is good food. The staff there has always been friendly and helpful, so no complaints there. My husband loves ​their​ kombucha, but I don't particularly care for it. Prices are reasonable, for Maui. CONS: (biggest reason for the 3-star review) The hours of operation are SUPER inconsistent. We have gone, no less than 10 times, just to find that they were closed or they weren't serving food. It's a 20 minute drive for us each way....so that's not great. We have started calling any time we think we might go, but they don't always answer the phone. Whether they are closed again or just too busy, I'm not sure. We check the website and FB to see if there are updates, but nothing. It's just "hit or miss". I guess the owner just doesn't need the $$$. We went a few days ago on a Saturday after a long hike and arrived around 3 pm​. When we got there, they said the kitchen was closed. I guess now, they close the kitchen at2 pm​m on Saturdays. We used to go and grab dinner there once or twice a week and it always seemed pretty full. Often, there would be live music too. Rencently, we showed up at 6:15pm on a Friday night and they were already closed. We happened to run into one of the staff members that was still in the area and he informed us that they were, "trying something out for Summer hours". Ummm, okay? Some of my friends have decided to stop going, not only because of the flakiness of the hours​ but because Maui Kombucha uses too much plastic and non-compostable​ materials for serving. Listen, the owner is entitled​ to run his business as he sees fit. If they want to be "willy-nilly" with their hours, so be it. But for me, I like consistency and reliablility. Lately, we have been going to Choice in Paia. Honestly, the food is WAY better at Maui Kombucha, but Choice is reliable and their hours are super convenient​. Maybe it's a location thing? If you don't know where they are already, I can't imagine​ you would ever "stumble across​" it. It's in a little hole in the wall. So maybe they don't get enough foot traffic. I think the chef(s) at Maui Kombucha need to come and open something up in Paia!! We would be there every day​, along with LOTS of other folks. read more

I'm not usually into kombucha but this place adds such great flavors and a touch of carbonated water that it turns into a magical and tasty mix! The servers are really nice and the vibe is great. Whether it's your first time or you're a veteran 'buch-er, Maui Kombucha is the best place on the island to get your fix. The kombucha is perfect- not too vinegary, nor too sweet. Their other drinks, like smoothies, juices, and matcha/espresso-based lattes, are a good alternative for people who aren't big on the booch. They also make fresh vegan soups, salads, wraps and desserts daily, and put a huge emphasis on supporting local and organic farmers. Vibes are abundant and welcoming, staff are some of the friendliest folk, and there is always art on the walls from various local artists!! If Maui Kombucha was in Seattle, I would quit my career and beg to work there just to be around such great food and rad island vibes. We popped in on our way back from the road to Hana. Everywhere we stopped wasn't very vegan-friendly, so I was over-joyed to see this place on my Yelp radar. It is tucked back just off the highway in a town named Haiku. The staff was all adorable and hip girls who were thrilled to help out a visitor from the main land. They made suggestions for ordering and I am so glad I listened! I enjoyed a bagel sandwich topped with sprouts, capers, tomato, avocado and some sort of vegan cheese. I don't like cheese alternatives and tried to omit it, but the girl who I was ordering for said I should have it. Who am I to object? She's clearly a pro! They had about 8 different types of kombucha on tap. I enjoyed a small coconut kombucha and my food came out quickly. The bagel was crumbly and full of whole grain goodness. I devoured the full thing and quenched my thirst with the mind-blowing kombucha. It was about $16 for lunch and by far the best investment I could have made! Had I known earlier in the trip of their refrigerated items, I would have stocked up for the week. Don't let this gem pass you by! Load up on goodies for the road to Hana! read more

I had never tried kombucha and to be honest I was skeptical! I'm now on a quest for it in New Orleans after two trips to Maui Kombucha! If you're not into kombucha I highly suggest stopping in to give the delicious food a try. Maui Kombucha can be tricky to find as the previous reviewer stated , its in the back of the Haiku Town Center (just look for the sign), but once you find it you'll be pleased you did! When I visited they had three different flavors 'on tap' as well as plenty of ready made raw foods (I remember the delicious empanadas and falafel off the top of my head) I believe an additional menu is available to order. The desserts were phenomenal as well. It was amusing because even family that was talking about how good the desserts were surprised to learn that was the 'raw, healthy food' we had been suggesting they try! Its a smaller, super casual restaurant, almost set up like a little bar, that gets pretty busy during lunch so you can plan to dine in or take your order to go. It makes great food and drinks to pack for the beach! You can purchase the kombucha in glass, 1/2 gallon or gallon and again to reiterate what the previous reviewer said, bring your own container for a discount! 6 stars would not be enough to express my respect and admiration for this establishment. This is the real deal, infused with creativity and consciousness. My wife and I came in, sat down at the bar, and the bartender poured us each 3 shot-glass tastes of the 3 kombucha flavors of the day. One was ginger-turmeric! OMG. My wife, a bit apologetically, remarked, "We are still kind of sandy from the beach." The bartender replied with a gentle smile, "We get a lot of that here." I almost fell off the bar stool laughing. It all got better from there. Perhaps not for everybody, though right now I can't imagine why not. If the concept appeals to you, don't hesitate. If you are simply open to the possibility, don't hesitate. If you think you don't like kombucha, you might want to give it one more try with their take on it. That just about covers it, right? They serve a lot of other items, healthy vegan fare that will not offend your palate. Everyone should have one of their "hot shots" - a true original. I had to re-review this place after not being able to stop coming back... I admit it, I'm in love with their booch. My home brew is NEVER the same as theirs and never as good. They've mastered it, it's true, which is more than I can say for myself so I can't complain about the price tag. I really love certain flavors; Jamaican Ginger, Lavender Lemonade, and my newest favorite has to be their Black Mango, (just to name a few). Some can get pretty far out, (Kava and their cucumber blend was a no go for me, but I had to give them a shot), while some far-out flavors end up being surprisingly wonderful. I m not one for using yelp at all but I've been going to Maui Kombucha for years and it will forever be one of my favorite places. For one their kombucha is amazing and they always have a variety of flavors on tap, but their FOOD is unreal, especially the açaí bowl and the nachos. Howeverrrr the best thing about Maui Kombucha is the staff. They're always super welcoming and attentive and they make a point to get to know their customers on a first name basis. This is probably my favorite restaurant on Maui. Sometimes I go there to grab light meal to go, like a raw wrap with pesto or raw bagel with cashew cheese.
