After coming to this location I can officially say I've been to every Maui Tropix store on the island. This one by far is my favorite so far. Its much larger than the Lahaina location and the parking here is better than the Dairy Rd. location. On this most recent trip to Maui, I picked up shirts for my kids. Although they sell all the same stuff at all the stores, this one was just like shopping at home. Easy parking and there's a Starbucks right next door! These guys are really cool. My husband found a killer pair of boardshorts. He is basically in between sizes - 34 too big around the waist and 32 are too short. 33 would be best. So they called from the Lahaina store to the Kihei store, saved our shorts and we picked them up before flying back home. I appreciate that kind of effort and service. Not sure why the in Kahului gets such great reviews and this one doesn't. We went to the location by the airport first and were there probably 15-20 mins browsing and none of the staff said a word to us. Most couldn't be bothered to stop chatting at the counter to even say hello. Needless to say we left without buying anything. We stopped by this location later and the experience was much much better. Four different people asked if we needed any help and answered our questions on sizing/shrinking, but it wasn't pushy at all. Seemed like all of the staff were helping customers, and they were very friendly. We walked out with two pairs of rather pricey sandals, but I'd rather buy them here because of the better service. If you're in town for Maui gear and sandals, definitely go to this location instead. read more

I bought all kinds of great stuff from this store: rash guard for BJJ/surfing, cross bar pads that actually fit perfectly on my Xterra roof rack, stickers, and a wax comb in the shape of knuckle dusters! This just wasn't the store for me, BUT it was for my husband. He bought several pairs of swim shorts and LOVED them. He even had me come to check out the selections on his second visit because he loved it soooooo much. When he was swimming, he raved about his new swim trunks. Just like Jaws tacos, i never find myself on Maui without going to one of the three Tropix shops (usually visit all 3!) the staff is way chill, they will help you with whatever you need! i never felt out of place in any of the shops, my closet back on the mainland, is literally 85% Maui Build stuff, it is really cool to know that those three shops are the only place you can find Maui Built cloths and garb. I have been visiting Maui for the last 12 years, and have the shirts to prove it. I'm reppin MB all the time, i even have my 7 mo. old son done up in MB style! read more

While on vacation we needed to buy multiple items for family members back home. The staff was so agreeable and helpful. They let us take photos of various styles to send to our family so that they could choose. Friendly staff were also so helpful in assisting us with sizes. They know their merchandise so well that they readily locate items and answered all of my questions. Made what could have been an overwhelming process so easy. Then they folded everything compactly so that we could fit it all in our luggage. You probably know the excellent quality of their clothing already and now you know that the service in their stores is exceptional. We're very appreciative! read more

This store was great when we went in to shop. Unfortunately, (and thankfully) we tried on the shirts we bought and they were too small. We went back the next day to do an exchange and the girl interrogated me about wearing my shirt. No, I didn't fricken wear it, it's too fricken small. It didn't have tags when I bought it. Then she told me that they run small and she herself (she's about my size) wears a large or an extra large. Well, that's the kind of stuff you should have told me when I was buying it the first time. I like the selection of Maui Built but the young staff is less than desirable. They seem to have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to kama'aina discounts. Reminder to these young girls working in the store: you don't have to be born and raised in Hawaii to receive kama'aina and you CAN be white and be a resident of Hawaii. The attitude of the staff toward my sister and I was appalling. Makes me not want to support this store anymore. Sucks because I like the store, but not these young ignorant employees. read more

This by far the the most friendly Maui Tropix store for Maui Built gear and clothing. I bought my surfboard here and always pick up a new pair of shorts and T shirts when I am in town. Glad to have a store in the neighborhood and hope it stays around. I personally think the Kahului store has poor service and is out of the way. It seems like the Paia store is closed which is too bad. They were good too. read more

Good solid store. Good help, they know their inventory well. New stretch shorts are the best on the market. Color patterns are a bit wild but I still buy because they are by far best shorts ever. Material is also strong and resists tearing on the reef. read more

Went to the Kihei Maui store. My wife was on the phone with my son and grandson, they both like the shirts. She was taking a video of the display, so the my son could see what was available. We were rudely informed the we could not take a video, even though my son was on the phone looking at the selection, to pick one for him and one for my grandson. We explained that and the witch behind the counter started yelling no video, no video. I don't understand what she thought we were going to do with the video besides make a shirt selection. Must have thought we were going to steal their designs. We are both in our 70's, not exactly a threat to their store. The shirts are not cheap, 50.00 each. We just wanted to get the ones they would like. I was so mad I walked out and then my wife left also. No sale, there would have been a least a 100.00, sale. They got Nothing, and they will get nothing in the future. read more

Great shirts. I think for iron on decals its pretty expensive. They offer a big variety of shurts (long and short sleeved) tank tops, surf shorts, all with the "Maui Built' logo. Dont expect shirts to outlast, pretty cheaply made. Great sticker collection......Staff is friendly, and very helpful. Store is well organized. They are in need of a bigger larger man section (3-5X). read more

Just wanted to drop a note of mahalo to the two women who helped us there in early May 2013. My husband was looking at the Maui Built skim boards. We had been to the other locations on the island and the women helping us were by far the most knowledgeable. They were great at climbing the ladders and dealt super well with his indecisiveness! When we mentioned we were headed to Molokai next, they sat and talked with us about their impressions of it (though they'd never been there) and what others had told them. My husband and I were really happy with the great customer service we received. They had really cute clothes and a variety to choose from. We spent almost 500 dollars on a Nixon watch, sunglasses, and three shirts. Everything was fine except for the one polo shirt my husband bought. It was his favorite shirt and he was only able to wear it once because it shrank and now looks like a belly shirt. I am very upset because I followed the washing instructions. They do not do returns so basically we are out 40 bucks on that. Not to happy! Since we spent so much money you would think they would compensate us another shirt. read more
