Maupin well service was recommended to me on Nextdoor. We were told by another contractor a couple of years ago that our well was no good. He charged $140 for the service. We didn't have the money then to get a new well. This fall we decided to get a new well. Called and spoke to Mr. Maupin about an estimate for a new well and set up somewhat of a time (they said they would let me know) to come out. We were just called the other day and were told they were on their way. Mr. Maupin had told my husband that they would check the well. Within an hour they had water coming out of the well. They would have to come back to find the well and then proceed after that. They charged $675 to come out. I was told by one of the sons that the visit was $225 and the hour work or less was $450. I couldn't believe it was that much. No mention of what a service call cost or the service. Just that it is what it costs. I asked to talk to their dad and during this conversation he said, "Well what is it worth to you". I told him that a heads up on a service call charge and service would have been appreciated. My husband asked when they could come back to finish. I wasn't onboard with that. He has Parkinson's so sometimes he doesn't think clearly. They said this week but would not give an estimate. I didn't want them to do the work and it is now Thursday and we haven't heard from them. We hired someone else on Monday. Maupin is a major ripoff and their business practices are criminal. The Packard in my irrigation well failed. The personnel showed up on time within 8 days from my call for a problem that was not an emergency and was less important than fixing a household well. They were more than patient with my curiosity about well depth, water table, psi draw, how the check valve worked, etc. The did a thoroughly professional job. Although they are not cheap, they are worth the work they do. I recommend them without hesitation. I will call them again should I have any problems. read more
