It was served with plantain chips and great for a hotter night app. For my main, I got the Grain Bowl. So good, so filling and I had plenty left over for lunch the next day. It had quinoa, tofu, chickpeas, yams, and a green goddess dressing. This will officially be added to the rotation of lunch/dinner spot. Cannot wait to come back.

The ambiance is…read moreperfect--moody, upscale, and consistently chic--making it a great choice for a high-end night out. The Food: The star of the night was the Spicy Rigatoni. The creamy Calabrian pepper tomato sauce delivers a legitimate, vibrant heat that doesn't hold back. Breaking into the Italian burrata is essential; the creamy center beautifully tempers the spice, while the micro basil adds a nice hit of freshness. We also started with the truffle fries, which were executed perfectly--crispy, aromatic, and a total highlight. The Service: While the food was top-tier, the service wasn't great which is why I deducted 2 whole stars. I ordered a ginger ale that never made it to the table, yet it still appeared on our final bill - not cool. It's a small detail, but at this level of dining and price point, you expect those things to be caught. Also, the service overall was pretty slow which was disappointing. Verdict: Even with the minor billing oversight, the culinary execution is elite. If you're a fan of bold, spicy pasta and a great atmosphere, this is still a JC must-visit. Just double-check your tab!

Came here for the first time in the early weeks after it opened in Summer 2025. Pretty much half the menu, through the appetizers, small bites, entrees, and dessert, was unavailable/out of stock. This was during a prime seating slot, around 8pm (was on a date) on a Saturday evening. Okay, opening kinks, fair enough. But still---a restaurant opening to much fanfare, and dining during a prime slot, 40-50%-ish of what is already a somewhat limited menu should not be unavailable. This was gravely disappointing. Nevertheless, what limited items we were able to order were, again, REALLY good. So I made a note to return. Fast forward about 8 months: got seated at the bar, as a walk-in, just before 8pm on a Saturday. Once seated, took a rude amount of time to even be acknowledged. Was close to putting on a face of noticeable frustration and impatience, of which, I guess, the bartender must've noticed the emerging cracks and took my order. Recognizing this was the same bar tender from my first visit, and seeing that one of the extraordinary specialty cocktails that I enjoyed during that visit was no longer listed on the menu, I asked if it would be possible to order it. No; it's "no longer on the menu." Turning on my "benefit of the doubt" hat, perhaps it required specific ingredients that are not kept on hand; fair enough, and, if true, understandable (I do hope this was the case so that there is a sensible explanation). But when I replied something like "aw, you can't just make one anyway?" e.g. as one might prepare any other known cocktail that exists but does not appear on a specialty menu (asked in a way, to be clear, meant to seem friendly/fun, not at all pushy/demanding) bartender replied with a simple "No" (or maybe, to their credit, "no, sorry.") Next, out of only three entrees on the menu, the one I ordered was, you guessed it, out of stock--at 8pm on a Saturday. I had gone to Maxwell Alley to try that specific entree of the three, and had no interest in the other two. If a menu contains only three entrees, they really ought to be in stock at 8pm on a Saturday. I declined the server's invitation to order one of the remaining two, got up and left. As I departed 15 minutes after being seated, no staff--hostess, maitre D etc--said a word. I've worked at upscale places and was always trained never to allow a single guest--even the very content ones--to leave without being acknowledged, told thank you/goodnight etc. A guest departing within 15 minutes of being seated might, one would think, have caught someone's attention and asked whether there was a problem, etc., but I guess not. Still--believe it or not--despite the limited menu, and this place striking out twice, the food during my first time was, in fact, so good that I do intend to return yet again--third time's the charm??? I'll try for 5pm on a Thursday or something, in hopes of ordering from the full menu.

He enjoyed explaining the various menu selections and details of some special drinks. The cocktails were wonderful and our food was beautifully plated, hot and cooked perfectly. Justin, the owner, came by our table and we really enjoyed learning about The Roxy, which is a fairly new restaurant ( less than 2 years old). Justin comes up with all kinds of new cocktail creations and entree ideas, so the menu is interesting. The design of the restaurant is fresh and new, but also comfortable. They took our coats as soon as we entered the door practically. Go try "The Roxy". Our family highly recommends and we will visit The Roxy again soon. The Ricotta Gnocchi came after about 15 minutes and was deliciously creamy, and cooked perfectly where it was both tender and provided a chewy texture which we found enjoyable. The portion was on the smaller side which we were informed by our server. It also looked very pretty as well! The duck breast and the faroe island salmon both came after another 20 minutes, which took quite a while since they weren't really that busy at the time. The duck breast was tender with a crispy skin that was paired deliciously with its cherry jus, so I highly recommend getting that! However, the salmon was overcooked and quite bland compared to the other two, which was quite disappointing and left us feeling hungry despite spending over 100 for 3 dishes. Although we enjoyed some of their selections, the high price tag did not really justify both the ricotta gnocchi appetizer-like portion, and the underwhelming and bland faroe island salmon. The Roxy has potential of being amazing, so I hope they take into consideration this review to continue to improve and change up their menu. Their menu is ever evolving, so they're definitely worth a visit if their updated menu appeals to you! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

The weather was absolutely ideal -- warm enough to enjoy being outside but still crisp, with very little humidity. Basically, rooftop weather perfection. The biggest draw here is, without question, the view. The space itself is beautiful, with a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, but seeing the Manhattan skyline illuminated at night is what makes this place special. It's one of those views that reminds you why people romanticize New York and the surrounding area so much. They offer a full food menu, although it appeared to be available primarily for guests seated indoors. The outdoor area seemed to focus more on drinks and lighter bites. Just know before you go: this is definitely a splurge spot. Everything is priced at a premium, so prepare yourself accordingly. Unfortunately, the service experience got off to a rough start. Both the security staff and hostess came across as unwelcoming and not particularly friendly. Whether they were overwhelmed or simply having an off night, it didn't create the best first impression. My biggest disappointment, however, was the restroom situation. By around 9:30 p.m., the bathroom was already in pretty terrible condition. Honestly, it was hard to believe it had deteriorated that much in just a few hours, and it gave the impression that it may not have been properly cleaned earlier in the day. Overall, Rooftop at Exchange Place delivers exactly what most people come for: spectacular views, a beautiful atmosphere, and an unforgettable skyline backdrop. Just be prepared for premium prices, a potentially lukewarm welcome, and hope that someone has checked on the bathrooms before you arrive.
