I used to go to Luna when I lived in SD around 5 years ago, and after moving back, I seeked her out again. That should tell how much I like her! She is probably the only one who dries and flat irons my hair before a cut and I like that! It means there are no surprises when the hair dries and shrinks back much shorter. Luna listens and suggests and you end up with something flattering. I told her about wanting thicker hair at the back with 6 inches off, so she did just that and gave me only face framing layers with a U at the back. Her washes are super relaxing. She is patient and listens and advices. She was very considerate about a head injury that I have been dealing with and planned the cut around that. I am happy! Her cuts are $45. There are 2 spots to park at her shop and that's enough. She is very nice about appointments and will inform if something opens up sooner. read more

I'm never coming to this damn salon ever again! So surprised how it got all these five star reviews. So there were two things: Customer Service and Haircut Quality. First, the customer service. I booked at 6 pm over the text the day before. The day off in the afternoon Luna texts me asking to come at 4. I told her I'm not leaving from work until 5. She says okay at 5:15 pm. Since it takes an hour to get to her salon I reminded her that we agreed at 6. She said ok. I came little earlier 6 pm and had to wait outside until she arrived. The entire time I was getting the haircut she was having that scowl face and acted as if she hated her job. Luna didn't say that she cuts hair on dry hair. I told her that I had hair products on. Nevertheless she was trying to use straightening iron and hair dryer on my hair with gel and hair spray on it. Second, the quality. The haircut was done so sloppy. The layer were uneven and choppy. See the photo. I came to my home and was so furious. I'm not sure why such a bad job? whether it is because she was moody or because she didn't like me (a complete stranger) for no reason or simply because she doesn't know how to cut hair. Now I have to go to different salon to fix what Luna did. So the price for this sloppy job is $45. read more

I came here a few years ago because I saw some really good reviews on yelp. I was looking mostly for a good hair stylist who actually listens to what I want, and one who can deliver the look I am asking for. I got my hair colored and cut.. And the result was amazing! Luna really gives me what I ask for... She has never cut my hair too short . She does her technique a little different and I love it. I would recommend her to everyone who is looking to look great at an affordable price. You can also pick up food at the taco shop next door while your waiting. I have never liked any of my hair cuts, and now I love my hair.. I get compliments on them! I love luna, please don't ever leave us! FYI Luna does not do the following services because she believes it's extremely bad for your hair: perms, Brazilian blowouts, etc. She keeps it very honest and wants the best for her customers. Other tips: to prevent hair loss, comb you hair before you shower, when your hair is wet, comb the ends first. Don't clip up your hair if it is wet, it will cause your hair to grow mold... And the hair will fall out from the roots..... So stop that habit if you do. Glad to have all of this knowledge because I want my hair for life... Luna tied and braided my hair before the cut so that it would be ready for donation. I've been meaning to write this review for a few weeks now . I'm finally getting around to it ! My friend visited July 4th weekend with her twin 13 yr old girls. One has very thick blonde hair and couldn't find her brush so tried using a round brush which instantly got caught in her hair. In her panic she made it ten times worse and in the end we thought the only hope was to cut her hair . She has been growing her hair long forever and would have been devastated . We rushed to Fix Salon to see if anything could be done and the lady , whose name I didn't get , had a client in the chair. The client , seeing the panic in the 13yr old , voluntarily gave up get seat and the lady painstakingly fixed her hair and freed the brush with very minimal damage and zero cutting at no charge . I am beyond disappointed. I booked a hair cut with Luna for yesterday at 11:15am. I was outside her salon at 10:50am until 11:30am and she never showed up! I tried calling her and it just went straight to voicemail. I should have known... when I booked my haircut two days prior, all I sensed was irritation. Sorry I just wanted a simple trim! Such a waste of time. Very inconvenient and unprofessional. She could have at least given me a courtesy call if she needed to reschedule me. Even after all of my voicemails, she never called me back. I have never come home and started crying over a haircut, until today. I like her I really do, but after today, I can´t even talk to her. My hair is ruined. I came in and I told her, "nothing fancy just a trim, straight line" and somehow that translated into choppy uneven hair everywhere. I have been taking care of my hair like if it's my baby, and today, was just awful for me. I told her that my hair had never even been ironed, she ironed it, and then chopped it up. (I recently shaved my head, so every hair on my head was clean, pure, healthy hair, virgin.) SO, I devirginized my hair for no reason, because a good cut didn't even come out of it. I wish I could write a raving review. All started well. I read the reviews, decided I will try it and and left a message for a an appointment. I got a call back the same day for an appointment the following day. I should say first of all. I have 3b/4a mixed hair. I am usually very picky about who gets to touch my hair but I was desperate; my usual beautician hasn't been available and my hair had a 3 week old press/flat iron on it so I was ready to get it done. I drove the 20 minutes there (the salon being so close was a plus) and I had no problems on the freeways but I was not expecting the many sharp turns and big hill in the neighborhood. Though you can contribute that to me not getting out much. I showed up super early because I forgot my appointment time. That was not a problem. I patiently waited for my time. There was a young boy getting his hair cut and his parents provided endless chatter. I only noticed this because when the family left it was awkwardly quiet. Luna did ask a few questions about my hair but seemed a bit standoffish. I didn't mind. Even though I had a head cold I was determined to stay optimistic. First warning sign? It took her about 3 minutes to wash my hair and I don't even remember her using a drop of conditioner. I'm not sure if she would've charged extra but I'm used to getting at least a basic conditioning with a shampoo. It also usually takes 5-7 minutes at the least. Being under the weather the next hour or so is blurry. I should have waited till I felt better so I could communicate better with her but I just sort of let her do her thing while trying not to notice my migraine. Again; I was a bit desperate. I later noticed that she put little to no heat protection my hair. After she blow-dried my hair she flat-ironed it, again I don't remember any sprays or balm put on my hair. It was uncomfortable seeing as she detangled as she straightened instead of before and had to blow dry several times after starting because she didn't fully dry it before using the flatiron. I payed her. I guess I didn't describe my hair thickness well enough to her because she informed me she would have to charge me twice as much the next time...ok? The worst part is how everyone reacted to my hair the next two days after visiting this place. Horror. My friends felt the back of my hair saying it felt like dry straw. I've been drenching my whole head in oil every night trying to help the burn. Yes, my hair was scorched. I'm aware my hair was damaged BEFORE I went in but it was actually WORSE when I left. It's been 5 days and it still feels rough and uneven in the back. I'm super disappointed because even when unhappy with a salon I never had an experience like this. I'm actually asking friends for references for places that can adequately cut and straightened my hair because a lot of damaged hair I had before is just un-salvageable now. It sucks because I wanted to find professional help to breathe life into it not destroy what little length I had left. I guess I learned a few lessons. See the beautician before making an appointment for your hair which she may not know how to do. Never go sick because you can't correct anything, including major heat damage. I heard a lot of good things about this place so I decided to check it out. It was pretty difficult to find, since 30th street goes all over the place. But it's not such a major issue. I do give it ratings for Luna's sweetness and her styling. I gave her some really crazy references, like a DVD cover of Amelie and some other random photos to base my haircut off of. And when I first got it cut, I loved it! The way it curled and the way it bounced was perfect! However, as time went by and I couldn't curl my hair on a daily basis, I realized that she cut it crooked in the back! I wondered why it was longer on one side, but I didn't think much of it until I really looked. My hair is naturally on the straight side, so I wish there was attention to the way my hair naturally fell. Overall I can see how everyone would love Fix, but I personally wouldn't come back. read more

I've had several haircuts now, and while Luna will give me exactly what I ask for, the best cuts have been when I just gave her a general description and let her choose the exact style. "I need to look older and professional" and "I want something short that I won't have to spend time styling in the morning, but I don't want to look like a boy," both resulted in haircuts that did exactly that, and netted me a lot of compliments. Luna also gives great advice and doesn't try to push particular products or brands. The first time I went in I told her the problems I was having with my hair, and she told me what to change. I was worried that I would need to start buying expensive salon brands, but she gave me a list of cheap products that would work well with my hair. With her suggestions, I've seen a huge improvement! All the women in my family now go to Luna. Thin, dry hair? Thick, curly hair? Coarse, greying hair? She does a great job with all of them. The quality of a $100+ salon cut for only $35? I recently moved to San Diego from New York and have been to a few department store and franchise salons for a basic trim while I searched for a new salon. I came across FIX Salon on Yelp yesterday and read every review, realizing that I had a similar hair type to that of the previous reviewers. I called Luna yesterday, she returned my call today and I had my appointment within 45 minutes of talking to her over the phone. Not only did I get a great layered cut, which would allow me to wear my hair either in its natural state, curly or straight, Luna was very knowledgeable about products to recommend to repair my hair after postpartum shedding and to maintain the overall health of my hair. She also recommended a regimen for washing and conditioning my hair. A few pros are also the great hair massage, conversation and price. I have been to several generic salons and the stylists all used basic cutting techniques, while charging me almost twice the amount Luna charged. Okay First I have to let you guys know that I am the "don't even cut an inch of my ends" type of person, I have been looking for a hairstylist to go to for about a year here in san diego bc I am from Fontana and I had my hairstylist there for years. I dropped in to check it out she took me in and told me to come back later. I walked back to my appointment and I was so nervous cuz I havnt cut my hair in like a year. Yelpers got this one right. I recently moved to South Park from L.A.. I took a photo to Luna and explained what I liked. She cut it perfectly. I love my hair. The layers and bangs are exactly what I wanted. I feel so sassy! I love my hair more than when I paid $250 at Fred Segal, but paid far, far less. You gotta love that! Luna is incredible. I have now gone to her 3 times (February, May, and now August) to get my dark blonde hair highlighted and cut. At other salons, I would be pressured into getting full highlights, but Luna always does a partial for me. My hair never looks over colored or unnatural. And when I come back after 3 months later, she is flawless. Her work is incredible. Aside from that, she's really affordable. I call it inexpensive because it really is a low price for cut and color. I've paid almost twice as much for my hair before and never been as happy as when I leave Luna. Another great thing about Luna: she really knows hair and pays attention to yours. She is constantly telling me new things about the way my hair grows and reacts because she remembers and pays attention to her clients. She is awesome. And she sold me the best shampoo and conditioner ever at an awesome price. Finally, Luna is easy to talk to. There is never forced conversation and she is totally comfortable in silence. Luna seriously takes GOOD CARE of your hair. I have been to Luna twice now (after my roomie found her on yelp!) and she is THE BOMB. As a fake-blonde from Florida, I have had a HARD TIME finding someone who will keep my hair lookin right. I have medium-brown hair; I like to get a full highlight so it looks blonde. Luna told me that I should just do a partial. I had just come from the salon at Fashion Valley, where a partial is like 6 foils on each side - no thank you! But with Luna, her "partial" highlight extends all the way down to the middle of your ear, pretty much 1/2 to 2/3 of your head. The best part? Her EXTREMELY REASONABLE RATES. Very happy with my new haircut!!! I recently moved back to San Diego after several years on the East Coast and have had to start all over again in search of a stylist. I happened to stumble across a series of reviews regarding Fix Salon on Yelp just last week while searching hi and lo for somewhere in San Diego where I can get my hair done well at a reasonable rate...yeah, I know, right? After reading a couple of full pages of glowing reviews regarding Luna, I called to book an appointment. Man am I glad I took the leap! I have difficult hair, to say the very least (thick, frizzy, dry, inconsistent curl, yet also fine in texture...), which has been a constant battle for me since I was a teenager. Luna took her time to listen and was able to rescue my hair just in time before I shaved my own head! Also, I thought I had "heard it all," but she actually made product recommendations that I had never considered and told me the reasons "why." I'm in - can't wait to try some of the new tips for taming my unruly mop. I now have great new layers that add volume and movement, without having lost much of the length at all. She quickly corrected "boo-boos" made from other salons, re-balanced the whole thing and has me on the right track to meeting my goal, which is to have long (bra length), healthy, flowing hair. And...as an added bonus, she did not scold me like a naughty child when I confessed that I had just colored my own hair with box color out of desperation prior to meeting her. Most stylists would throw you from the chair for such behavior. What can I say - it's been tough after getting laid off. So, I pre-booked my next appointment with Luna for color and am so excited for next month, when I will go back and get partial "hi" and "lo" lights to begin the process of moving towards the dimensional color look that I have wanted for so long now. I had long hair when I first went here, and I've always had issues with split ends. Probably due to the fact that I hate to get my hair cut, because it seems that everyone messes it up. Not the case here! I was very happy with the final result, as she didn't cut my hair shorter than I asked. I just had my ends trimmed, and she listened to what I wanted and did just that. Since I didn't want a wash, but she needed to know where my layers were, she straightened my hair to make sure the cut was even. It looked great! She talked to me the entire time about the home made products she has for hair and I was so happy to know that she wasn't all about hair products filled with bad chemicals.
