Brought my car for an inspection, tire rotation, oil change, tire leak and check brakes. Left car in the morning and I had to call later in the day to ask if the car was ready as they were about to close. They did not fix the tire leak, they did not rotate the tires (tire leak was in the same location) and I suspect they didn't check the brakes. The counter guy told me the brakes were fine. A few months later, I had to purchase new brake pads and rotors (at another repair shop) because the brake pads (that were supposedly checked) wore down and damaged the rotors. I have been using Elmsford Mavis for years. I have gotten, breaks, tires, struts and inspection. I love the prices. I know that they are good compared to other places. I love this place. I love the employees. I have always been informed about my issues. Every employee, over the years, has treated me with respect. (I am female.) I just had to get a new tire today. I smashed into a curb. The rim was slightly bent. They could have charged me to sent out my rim to be repaired. They told me that they may be able to fix it and that is exactly what they did. Returned to Mavis in Elmsford yesterday to have a tire replaced. As always, the staff is super, accommodating, and really nice and friendly. However, a couple of things this time caused me to lower my rating. First, I made an online reservation. The nice thing about an online reservation is that you can preorder the tire you are going to need. But it is absolutely worthless otherwise. I waited over 2 hours to get my car in and another hour to drive it out, a total of 3 hours (WITH A RESERVATION) . You can use the excuse that when a prior customer's auto goes in, you never know how long it's going to take or what work is going to need to be done. But there are techniques that can be used to go through the historical data (or simply estimate) in order to get the average length of time that a car is in the shop. Then, you restrict the number of reservations made available on the website, depending upon those numbers. For example, assume 6 bays ... perhaps 2 bays will average an hour, 2 bays will average 1.5 hours and 2 bays will average 2 hours or more. You then only make a certain number of reservations available over a certain amount of time based on that. Either make a change like that or eliminate the ability to make an online reservation alltogether because it is worthless. Secondly, the online reservation quote does not include a labor charge that was added on my invoice. I find this to be deceptive. Otherwise, the experience was good. read more

I made an appointment online for today thinking that it would be honored and that I would be able to get my oil changed at the time scheduled - or at least around that time - which is the purpose of making an appointment...right? I showed up a few minutes early and the parking lot was packed and there was not a single attendant in sight. It took another 5-10 minutes for them to notice that I had arrived and needed help. I was told that it would be at least a couple of hours until they could get to my car, even with my appointment. When I questioned him, the employee told me that making an appointment with them was like making a doctor's appointment, that I shouldn't expect to be seen at the time I make my appointment for, and that he didn't know of any doctor's office where the wait wasn't at least a few hours to be seen even with an appointment. I'm sorry, but I did not find that analogy appropriate at all. Needless to say, I told him not to bother putting me down and that I was leaving. I don't know about everyone else, but I definitely don't have three free hours on a weekday afternoon to spend waiting for an oil change. Lesson learned, don't bother making an appointment at this Mavis. They won't honor it anyway. read more

I had front and rear rotors and pads replaced at Elmsford Mavis. They insisted on charging me for a brake flush which is not needed since the hydraulic lines were not involved. It did not take long before the rear rotors became heavily scored. I could hear them chirp so I am sure they were dragging. The hubs of the rotors they installed quickly rusted unlike my original equipment zinc coated rotors. Finally, with only 15k miles on the brakes and a loud metallic squeal, I had the rear rotors and pads replaced by a mechanic that I trust....and not Mavis! When I had the Mavis in White Plains look at the rotors, they told me that I needed new calipers. My trusted mechanic confirmed that I did not need calipers. Just can't trust Mavis to be honest and to do a quality job. read more

Absolutely horrendous experience. Have an issue with a tire? They will get you a new tire and put it on wrong so that it still leaks. Bring your old Monte Carlo here for an oil change. If you have a good car, stay away. read more

Nice people - really - but with no respect for your time. Set an appointment over the web, they called back to verify the apt. Asked how long it will take - they said 40 min (long for a 3yo car but OK) Arrived 10 min before the due time. Was told that there is another car before me. They took my key -- so I waited.. an hour passed by, no sign of the guy, when back to ask. I'm coming right now was the reply. 20 more minutes passed still no sign of the guy. I asked for my key back and left. I don't know what happened - they may have used the lane for car repairs - which can take much longer time. Waiting 1:20 hours before starting the inspection is simply unacceptable. They should have a lane dedicated for inspection and schedule cars 45 minutes apart so thing can run smoothly. I see other people had even worse experience. Glad I left when I did and didn't waste more time. ---- Update: Thank you for reply . +1. It's a NY thing apparently, other state I been to had one central facility per county that only do inspections - so it runs more smoothly. In NY its little shops doing both repairs and inspections and it does not work so well. btw. Mavis is a chain - sufficient if you have a dedicated lane in *one* central place, e.g. white-plains - few minutes additional drive - but worth it. read more

On 6/20/2020, my Audi Q3 TPM informed me that my left rear tire was losing pressure. I was a few miles from Elmsford Mavis. I rushed there. I saw a service tech and asked him if he could check my tire and fix it. He said yes, but asked me to talk with the office. The service manger greeted me in a friendly manner. He took my info. Within 5 minutes he gave my paperwork to the tire tech. He found the nail easily; dismounted the tire; balanced it and then remounted the tire and checked the other three wheels's pressures. I was out in a half our. All of this for $22. I appreciated their courtesy and friendliness. Thank you! read more

Today I had a 9:00 am appointment for a wheel alignment. I got there at 8:30 am and let them know I had a 9:00 appointment. They told me it would be around one hour for my care to be finished. I waited and waited and my car was not brought into the bay. At 10:45 am I questioned about my car. They told me I was next. I said that I had a 9:00 appointment and I don't understand why I didn't go in on time when I was the only person there at 8:30. At 11:00 am they told me my truck was being brought in. About two minutes later they came out and told me that the person that does wheel alignments was on vacation. I have never been treated so poorly. I will never use Mavis again for any work that needs to be done on my vehicles read more

Dropped off my car at 10am for a scheduled appointment. Was asked some basic question, and didn't get a whole lot of confidence from the guy who checked me in. Never signed anything or was told how much it would be. Told that everything would be done around 3pm so I left and expected to be dropped off after. Yes, it was a long time, but what could go wrong? Called about 3 times to check in. And get an update on the car. They closed at 5pm so i just went there because no one was calling to update me. Got dropped off at 5pm and still had to wait an hour for the car to be done. Wasn't asked if I wanted my tires balanced (it was done already, with an extra charge) and only after I had paid was I asked to sign anything. If anything were to happen, this could have been a lawsuit. I'll admit, some of the employees here are great and others can't be bothered with you, but after spending a full day waiting for my car and hundreds of dollars, I can't see myself coming back here. read more

No frills service performed in a speedy way. Took the car to Mavis for a last-second state inspection before my sticker expired and my car turned into an illegal pumpkin. Despite rolling in at 4pm in what seemed reasonably busy shop, Mavis techs turned around the inspection by 5pm. Waiting room wasn't fancy, but did offer several kiosks with power sockets, as well as a shared TV and small kids' play area. Refreshments were limited to a single water cooler. No public WiFi, but hopefully this shouldn't matter too much if repairs are completed as quickly as mine was. Will certainly head back this time next year. read more

I brought my Rav4 in for new tires. They had the tires I wanted and the quoted price was decent, but of course with the alignment and warranty (which I actually think is worth the price) it was over $900. I dropped my car off for the afternoon to have this work done. They called me to inform me that I needed brake pads, rotors and struts. This is one of the oldest sales tactics in the books. I said "no thanks" and subsequently brought the car to Toyota to have all of these things checked by people who really know what the car needs. It didn't need any of the things Mavis was trying to sell me, and I resented the attempt to scam me. I would not go back. read more

No complaints! This is my 2nd year in a row going for breaks and inspections and not one issue! They are timely, as long as you make an appointment on the website or the phone ahead of time and are courteous. My favorite part is there is never any pushing you to get services you do not need. They did a great job! Gave me a great price and found coupons to help lower the cost. I went there because I blew a flat on both my pass wheels when I swerved to not hit an animal. They replaced the wheels and even fixed the dent I placed in the rim and hubcap! Dayton was very understanding and answered all of my questions honestly. I know this because at one point he even said, "I'm not quite sure. Let me ask and I'll be right back" I love it when instead of bullshiting, people actually go to get the right information. read more

I'm very unhappy with recent visit to this Mavis store and feel compelled to write this review. They changed some oil fluids and suspension shocks. After I left, I found several problems. 1. the car shakes under high speed. They say it's due to tire rotation and tires need balance. Fine. 2. After open the hood, I found a working cloth and a bottle cap left behind on the parts! Glad I found them, otherwise god knows what would happen to my car. 3. there are some squeaking noise from the back of car while driving after their job. I still can't figure out where it comes from. I need to take it back to them and hope they can figure out what they did wrong. I would suggest to avoid this store at all cost. read more

Don't fall for the rebate lie. I spent a $1000 on four sets of tires which had an advertised $50 rebate. Sent in all the paperwork and crickets. Never got it. I called the Elmsford location and they directed me to headquarters. I called headquarters in Millwood 4 or 5 times. Each time i got transferred a couple of times and then hung up on. They are a very dishonest business. This happened a couple of years ago more recently the Eastchaster location refused to honor my wife's warranty on her tires. no more Mavis for me ever. read more

I had a flat and was referred to Mavis by a local cop. I came in to get a flat fixed and they handled it quickly and professionally.

First off, they don't even deserve 1 star. One of the mechanics, Mike, was extremely unprofessional. He continuously looked my friend and I (both females) up and down and 'cat called' us. I told him he was being unprofessional and he laughed in my face. When I asked another staff member, Patrick, to speak to the manager he refused to bring him to the front desk.
