I never go out of my way to complain as i own a business myself and understand that sometimes things take longer then expected. However, after seeing customer, after customer giving the front desk an attitude, plus my experience - I had to complain. Granted i did not make an appointment, but i got my tires sent there from tire rack. I showed up at 11:30 am. There were 2 other customers there. I didnt leave until 4:45. 5 hours to mount new tires and get an alignment. For the first 4 hours my car sat inside the shop with the hood open. They were just fishing every customer who came in there to get as much work as possible that day. I wouldnt have cared if they told me it was going to take 5 hours, but they didnt even offer me a time frame. The entire team seemed like a bunch of incompetent knuckle busters. read more

I bought 4 cooper discoverer atr tires from them the inner sidewalls blew out on all 4 at different times the last time I got them replaced (yes even with road hazard I had to pay for replacements)the last time the idiots at mavis broke a lug with the impact gun and didn't replace it they also left my wheel center caps off the van.today I found out that one more tire is having the same type failure that makes 5 tires that were defective.i am beyond pissed off with mavis and cooper tires.i got tires from firestone for my truck and now I will be doing the same with my van!!! after doing business with mavis for over 20 years I'm done!!!!! read more

Two days ago I went into Mavis to get One flat tire replaced come to find out that I needed another tire replaced,no surprise because that's what they try to do. I agreed because they MUST KNOW more but I went to firestone a few weeks ago and they said I only needed ONE. (WHO TELLS THE TRUTH? )but the people were nice which is great and I was on a time crunch so I was able to be seen quickly. They definitely try to sell you thing you don't want or need done. Now back to the tire issue I drove into Mavis with my car perfectly aligned and left with it not. Now I don't know about you but that's a goddamn safety hazard and to be honest I am sick and tired of the incompetence of peoples quality of work, why can't they just do the damn job correctly the first time because now this is an inconvenience I have to come back take time out of my busy schedule for them to redo the job that should've already been done CORRECTLY in the first place. The man I spoke to on the phone today was annoyed at the fact that I was being sarcastic with him I don't care this is a safety issue. I drive miles to and from school and work and my car wobbles as if it's the tires are going to come off. I've been driving long enough to know the difference between the car being properly aligned and not being aligned at all. I'm not an idiot so don't treat me like one. Stopped in for a tire plug after running over a bolt. Took between and hour and a half and two hours for a tire plug. I had my 6 month old daughter with me who began screaming at one point and needed to get home. I spoke with the guys at the desk after seeing my truck in the shop for a while and asked when the tire might be done. They told me a half hour this after already being there over an hour. I saw my hood open and asked why it was open if I'm getting a tire plug. They said that is standard which is garbage, they were looking to upsell work. When my truck was finally ready there was no apologies. I've been around the auto business for 20 years and have never seen such bad service. Tire plugs at most places take 5-10 minutes on a bad day. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. Made appointment for 9am right when they opened. Arrived at 8:45am and there was a line. I was about the 4 person in line for tire change from summer to winters already on rims. Should take 10minutes. I was told by the manager they do not honor appointments which was a lie according to their corporate office. They should always honor appointments. We were not seen until 11am and our car was in for 10 minutes. Shame shame shame. All the poor reviews are right place is a jokey. read more

today 5/22/17 i had a great experience.a week ago i went to mavis on rout 9.i spoke with dominic.very well spoken with nice greeting.how can i help you sir.all i needed was to have front tires balanced.well,i paid and left,i was taking a trip and had noticed there was still a tire balancing problem.anyway i came back with my receipt and spoke with dominic.he said no problem we will recheck.well he rebalanced all 4 wheels.he did not charge me any additional .he said i want you to to be happy with our work..well i find that very comforting,since i am a retired mechanic. read more

They need to get their acts together. Called to find out if I could bring my car in for something minor and was told now was a good time. Got there 5 min later & was told they were swamped & couldn't take me and this was after I got someone to follow me so I could leave my car! What a waste of time! Don't waste yours. Made the mistake of bringing my reliable and well-kept car to Mavis for a basic oil change. A week later, the oil filter FELL OFF while i was driving, causing the oil to drain out entirely. This was a direct result of their mechanic's negligence. While Mavis did take responsibility, they have done NOTHING to compensate for their mistake, regardless of several phone calls and visits. My once perfectly good car likely has some kind of engine damage now and i may be out thousands of dollars once the engine blows, all because i trusted in this place to do a simple oil change. read more

Got oil change with tire rotation they didn't even tighten the lug nuts enough so I almost had my tire fall off while driving never going there again!! read more

I am really perplexed....I came in to have a tire patched. The gentleman who checked me in, said there was only one person ahead of me-the garage was empty. I asked the gentleman, if they could in addition to doing the tire patch, also just take a quick look at my struts and see if they needed repair and give me an estimate. I got so many different price quotes from them- some from the asst mgr, others from the store manager. There was a HUGE discrepancy between prices/estimates given to me- despite the so called "rock-bottom" price the original guy gave me.(the original guy changed his estimate 3 times) The store manager then told me it should be $100 less then the other guys bottom line quote. I digress.... Oh yeah- lets get back to the tire patching...I waited for over 2 HOURS!!!! something that should have taken less then 15 minutes-The garage was by then filled with about 8-10 cars. I have never in my life waited so long for such a simple task. I regret even going there. After waiting there for 2 hours, they should have patched it for free!! Never again.... read more

I used to be loyal Mavis customer. For years I took my families cars to Mavis. Then I stopped because these guys are always looking for problems (bring your car in to have X fixed and they find a problem with Y). Mavis' hours and good tire prices drawed me back. Now I know why Mavis sucks. Look at tire prices on their web site and you'll see that installation fees and stocking-overhead fees for 4 tires equals nearly the price of a tire (gimme a break, about $120 to install 4 tires on a small car). Then when I got the Mavis in Fishkill, Mike the manager trys to "scare" me into additional service . I got sucked in and had the work done. I'm sure that they take advantage of girls ... as if we know nothing about cars and playing on fears. Now, someone from Mavis is going to reply saying that they strive to please customers (or something like that) and that I want to talk ... blah blah blah. But, if they really wanted to please customers they wouldn't treat customers like they are playing a carnival game. I'm pretty sure that if it wasn't for their hours and convenient locations Mavis would be in tough shape. read more

After dropping the car off in the morning for two new tires, we never received a call saying the car was ready after 3 hours. So after calling and talking with the manager, we were told it was just being backed out and to come pick it up. 30 min. Later, lo and behold, it's still on the lift when we arrived. It hadn't even been started. I counted 7 workers standing around chatting. There was no one else in the waiting room at the time. So I expressed my frustration to the counter guy and another worker copped an attitude saying that they were busy all day and it was being worked on. I pointed out that we had called and been told it was ready, and that not one person was working on or near our car. He basically blew me off and walked in back. Great customer service. It's been 40 min now and the car still isn't done. On top of that other cars had been pulled in and 2 or more people jumped on them. Last time ill come to this location for service. read more

This place is a disaster I took my Nissan van in for 4 new tires, I gave the young man a $10.00 tip when he took my van in and said to him " this is for you please do a good job " Well that didn't work out very well, I spent over 3 hours waiting for 4 tires to be mounted and balanced and aligned, then when they were done my " check tire light was on " the manager told me " just drive it and it will reset." I also asked why he put air in my tires instead of nitrogen, his answer was " we don't have nitrogen. This Van is used for towing a camper and requires nitrogen not air. As I was driving the tire pressure warning told me that I had 32 lbs of pressure in my tires. I purchased a tire pressure gauge and confirmed the 32lbs. This van should have 80lbs in the rear and 60 in the front. I called the manager and asked him if he knew how much my tire pressure should be and he said 40lbs? He the manager didn't know what the proper pressure should be. I blasted him for there incompetence I am from Florida and was towing a 6,000 lb. camper this was a very dangerous situation for me and we could have been killed by there lack of knowledge and sloppy workmanship I will never go to another Mavis as long as I live. Fishkill tire is about a mile up the road and are very professional I was lured by a $60.00 lower estimate. It was not worth the $60.00 to have your vehicle worked on by non professionals. The next day I took my van to Nissan for an oil change and to put nitrogen back in my tires. Stay away from this place they are butchers in mechanics clothing!!! read more

If I could have rated this place 0 stars, I would. They have the worst service; especially Jim who is the head mechanic. We brought our car in for tires, and they sold us a full brake job and alignment like good little salesmpeople that they are. Pfft! After 1200 dollars, I would expect that they could put the brakes on right, but my assumption was wrong. They did not put the hardware on correctly inside the caliper, so that there was a loud clanking noise when we hit a bump. Before this even happend, we noticed that the calipers started rusting after only 2 days. 2 days! Rust is a chemical process, and does not take 2 days, so did they spray paint the calipers silver to look new? That is what I am thinking. When we brought the car back for the clunking now, they say we need struts for another 750 dollars. We declined and had to bring to another mechanic who found out about them not putting the caliper topether properly. We wrote a letter to the corporate office and they have not contacted us at all, so I have gone to the internet. For your sake, do not ever go to Mavis. I have learned that they are required everytime someone comes in to take off the tire and try to sell a service to EVERY customer. What if the customer doesn't need it? Do they still do this...I think so. They also have the bays being video recorded that go right to corporate to show that they do this for every customer. Oh, and we left the car for 8 hours for all of this to happen.....HORRIBLE SERVICE MECHANICALLY AND FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

i have been going to mavis for tires since 1994 when i lived in white palins.they have the best prices on tires anywhere,but i must warn you,they look for any problems you might have to upsell you on different sevices.make sure you know your car,they can be convincing.i recently had some work done and they did a power steering flush which i didn't ask for.we dicussed it but i never agreed to it.they did however made it up to me with 2 free oil changes in the future.as far as making an appointment for inspection or alignment is a joke.its a first come/first come basis.they get very busy,if not you will be there a few hours. read more
