Came in for tire rotation and balancing. Rhodale at the counter asked "if there was any wobbly or unusual noise?" No, just it's probably time to do it. I asked if it's time for new tires? He checked and said "Not yet." At least he's honest; another place would have said Yes! Just to make a sale. I asked about how long it would take? He said I should be in and out in about an hour. Mavis in Fishkill - No Bueno! Mistakenly went to wrong location... Beacon location is amazing! Had appointment at 10AM, at 12:20PM they informed me that they couldn't perform necessary services due to a missing key lock for wheel. Flat tires are never fun. I went in with my donut on and Rhodale was professional, responsive, and personable. He quickly checked my tire and got the team started on the tire repair and remounting. Quick and affordable service. The technician even noticed a sticky residue on my dash and suggested nail polish remover to clean it without altering the color on the dash. Great team! read more

I hate leaving negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share this experience so others can go in more informed. I'm only giving 3 stars because I've usually had good experiences at this location, but this one left a bad taste. I recently brought my wife's Subaru Crosstrek to Mavis for a routine oil change and to check out a suspected bad wheel bearing. Turns out it wasn't just one, but both rear bearings needed replacement. Since I know newer vehicles use full hub assemblies (not press-out bearings), I had already priced out parts ahead of time--anywhere from $130 to $190 per assembly at AutoZone. So imagine my shock when the quote came back with over $900 in parts alone--before labor. When I mentioned this seemed way too high, I was told I must be mistaken. I pulled up the AutoZone prices on my phone and insisted they call to verify. After some hesitation, they did--and they reluctantly matched the price. Then came the upselling. I was told I needed two new tires, which I already knew about and said we'd handle at a later time. A few minutes later, that became all four tires, and they offered to waive the oil change if I agreed. Again, I declined. They ended up taking $25 off the oil change, but then added an extra 0.5 hours of labor, charging me for 3 hours total, even though the actual work took less than 2 hours and 15 minutes. I watched them lower the car, back it up maybe 5 feet, then return it to the lift, remove the tires again, do something unclear, lowered the vehicle down again and then leave it sitting for 20+ minutes while the techs chatted elsewhere. Someone then finally came over to take the vehicle out for a post work road test. Yes, they price-matched the parts--but only after I pushed, and it felt like everything after that was meant to recoup what they originally tried to overcharge. My advice: Before you agree to anything, ask for the exact part numbers and compare prices yourself--AutoZone, RockAuto, or even the OEM site. Don't assume the quote you get is reasonable. read more

Keep being told "you're next" but why allow me to make an appointment if I'm going to be here waiting all day? I thought the point of making an appointment was to help me get in sooner? Pathetic. Made a Yelp account just to review this place. I dropped off my car for a routine state inspection in the middle of a weekday...4 hours later and they still "had a mechanic working on it" just like they had been telling the last 3 hours. At the 4 hour mark I asked for an update and was told "45 more minutes" at which point I asked for my keys back so I could get on with my life. All we have in life is our time and they just wasted 4 hours of mine. Will never consider bringing my car to a Mavis ever again. read more

"You passed inspection but we won't put the sticker on unless you get the tires changed" - Direct threat by the company at the desk! If you had similar experiences or forced to pay for unneeded service, file with the DMV! Came for an appointed 3PM inspection on 10/21 which took 2 hours. Then they told me (AND showed me physically with tools) that I passed then printed out my receipt. They said the treads on the front tires reading was 4/32 which is close but passing. Regardless, they pressured me into replacing the tires which I heavily resisted. But then they said if I don't change them and buy new tires right there they will not give me the sticker! This is direct coercion! I had urgent work that needed my attendance and family to take care of, so I just asked for the cheapest tires and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but upon inspecting the law at home I confirmed my suspiciouns. I filed with DMV then returned the next day and asked them for full restitution, but they offered partial restitution, and refused any writing. They also refused to supply me with their latest copy of the VIR in their system for my record and accused me that I was recording them. They tried everything to convince me to take partial restitution: "our employee who spoke with you is 1 week new"--like I have to pay for the mistakes of employees!? Then they tried changing the story; "it was 3/32--we bet if we could look now we'd find you did fail". Insane employees, the guy who told me to buy the tires or they won't put the sticker at least told the truth and was trying to get me out of there before the fat lady spoke up. It's such a headache, these people just abdicate their problems to everyone else. Typically, I go to Green's Auto; really recommend trying Green in Poughquag, that guy is quite good and just tells it as it is. Also, you can get cheaper tires elsewhere like at Costco and Sam's. read more

Following up on my last review.....I went in for a simple DMV inspection. I was told that the vehicle would not pass inspection - needed new brakes and tires. I know something was wrong because 2 weeks early I'd had tires replaced. I went to the dealership. Car passed inspection. No need to replace brakes or any tire. This place needs to be investigated. By far the worse experience I have every had. Took my truck for an Insp. Was told I needed 2 tires . They changed all 4 claiming the other 2 were " Dry rot " I had a flat tire a week earlier so the spare tire had no wear was on the truck and the flat tire with the side wall blown out was in the bed of the truck. I now have 4 new tires and spare tire that's not usable and they forgot to put it in the bed of the truck had to go back to get it.. read more

Last July I took my SUV to this location for a synthetic oil change. I was advised my service was complete, I paid and I left the shop. The next day my vehicle completely shut down after driving less than 1 hour and I was stranded on the side of the road. I immediately checked my dipstick and the oil was dry. After I contacted the shop, they arranged for a tow back to the Mavis of Fishkill. The District manager called me to take full responsibility of the situation. The technician never put oil back in the vehicle and it seized the motor. Fast foward to today the vehicle was in the shop more often than not for 6 months. If you value your vehicle and you do not want to be stuck with a "Lemon" then you will not use this Mavis location. read more

Good Morning On 05/24/24 had towed to check 4 tires losing air. Brain and Dale made a appointment 11:30am. Wappingers Towing (Scott) got 2008 Ford Focus. Received car ready for pickup. After getting a ride back up left in a mile carsidiot dash light was back on. Turned around waited to have car look at. Tech After waiting walked around car with a meter machine. Back to me that 2 vehicle sensors on passenger side are bad that I would have to go back in and wait for a price and being 4PM wouldn't be able to replace today. Physically Assaulted my son when the manager didn't agree with the price he gave. Over charged for a simple tie rod job. Horrible wheel alignment job, so bad, the car can't be driven had to rent a vehicle and pay for other company to get it done right. Call regional manager to solve this issue. No call back. I'm out $430.00 plus tow, plus other shops fee to correct issue...no refund at all. they deserve zero stars with how unprofessional they've been. If you want your car revved for fun - this is the place for you. if you want them to slam your front bumper into a curb causing $2600+ worth of damage- this is the place for you. if you want to catch them doing all of this in real-time with your dashcam with no apologies- this is the place for you. Also their manager Ed can be seen on video while his employees were revving up my car in the garage while parked. smiling and taking photos. I don't care what anybody has written about the Fishkill mavis the store if it's a negative review they are totally wrong!!! I went there for an inspection this morning and they were all very professional . The manager Darren was specially courteous and answered all my questions even one with a problem I had from 3 years ago with my fuel neck filler, it had not been pumping my gas correctly it kept locking up for the past 3 years... Well Darren had a look at it and came out with a goddamn bolt the size of a screwdriver he told me this was the problem somebody may have left it there as a joke or by mistake. I agree with a previous review that they saw a female and thought, another "clueless" girl. However, they were mistaken. If you want to go to Mavis, take a two minute drive up route 9 and go to their Wappingers location where they have honest guys. The manager (really big guy) is a total crook in Fishkill. If you waste your time going to this Fishkill location, you will also be wasting your money because they will lie to you to get you to buy a service/part you don't need. read more

Came in for an inspection and was told I needed new tires in order to pass. They took forever to take the car in at least 1 hour and a half and then another 1 and a half hour to change the tires. Ended up waiting over 4 hours...these people work on multiple cars at the same time. Would never recommend or come back to this company. read more

Called this morning to get my car scheduled for an inspection. Got a same day appointment at 1:30pm. Walked in and was greeted immediately. Check-in took less than 5 minutes and about 5 minutes later they were already working on my car. Before I knew it they were calling my name to tell me I was all set. 3 years I have made an appointment for NYS inspection that resulted in complete failure. This time because their computers were down (poughkeepsie); last year because the computers were down (Po'k); the year prior because they had no NYS inspection tags (Parker Ave). I take time off for this appt. only to get such nonsense from these monkeys in return. Other times: car was failed because of "worn brake pads" (at the Parker Ave, store). I went to replace the pads, but THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY FINE!! i RETURNED TO HAVE THEM INSPECT THEM IN MY PRESENCE, BUT INSTEAD THEY JUST GAVE ME THE INSPECTION STICKER WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING THEM!!!! WTf IS UP WITH THESE FREEHOLES??? You act (and look) like a bunch of crack heads. I pulled into the parking lot today to see a "mechanic" come screaming up next to me, evidently "test driving" someone's car. Had I seen him do this to my car, I would have jacked his deranged ass on the spot. The guy at the front desk was absolutely fine and courteous, and is obviously too good to be working at Mavis. Wish I looked on here before going here but was in a bind to get my car looked at. Took my car for a NY state inspection and turns out my car needed a little work. The day that I brought it in was the day it was ready, so that was a one positive. However while I was at work, I received 5 phone calls from an unknown number. Thinking it was an emergency, I finally picked up and it was Mavis telling me my car was done BUT required me to pay over the phone. When I asked for an emailed receipt or an itemized receipt to be sent to me or pay the next day, I was told no. Very pushy and inconsiderate, especially for a hefty bill. My wife and I have been customers of Mavis since moving to CT in 2008. We use the store on Post Road in Riverside (Greenwich, CT). They have improved over time. When they say the tires or brakes will take 2 hours, it takes 2 hours. A few weeks ago while I was out an errand, I broke a wiper blade when it was frozen to the windshield. Halfway between home and Mavis I drove there and they had me out in 15 minutes even though I walked in 5 minutes before closing. Great store and great team. read more

my power steering system and one of my belts needed to get fixed and had almost been scammed by the mavis in Hopewell when they tried to charge 1500 for the work and parts for an already quoted 700 job. Matt was especially helpful as he had given us the original quote, brought us over to the Fishkill mavis after finding out about the scam, brought my parts over as well and had an estimated three day venture turn into a two day. sweetest person I've met at mavis so far and absolutely deserves some sort of compensation for his work.he cares about the customers time and money and makes a process that we all dread a little bit more enjoyable. read more

After the gentleman in front of me was helped. I approach the counter, with actual distance of course, and he just went to the back. Mike is a complete liar. I called at 1pm telling him that I had tires put on at another Mavis and the car has been riding rough ever since. He said to bring the car over. I asked if there was any wait time, he said no, that my car would go right in. I got there at 1:15 checked in, gave him my keys. Waited a half an hour and went in and asked when my car would go in. He said very soon. I waited another half an hour, now it's been a total of an hour. Went in and told him to give me my keys. Don't use Mavis. This time I came in for 21 dollar inspection and they told me my tires (that have 15k miles on them) are "dry rotted and are like racing slicks" - verbatim from Bob the service manager - and tried to charge me 350 for a pair of tires. He also intimated that he wouldn't pass my inspection if I didn't get the tires replaced.
