came in at 4:45p and booked an appointment for an inspection for my jeep at as of 9a that day on a wk day. I walk in w my confirmation and they close at 6p and tell me they're not sure how i had an appointment bc inspections take a few hours at least. because they have to 'test everything on the car brakes, etc. ' yeah, obviously. That's a joke. he even asked if i would be willing to leave it over night. i'm resourceful and was not going to waste my whole day dealing w them. went less than 1mi down the road and had my wrangler in and out in 30mins sharp for a NYS inspection at a mechanic. Id rather support small businesses anyway. you have these huge companies that really provide no quality at the end of the day but have solid marketing and no real value. maybe they wanted to close early. regardless, do better. read more

My son went to this place yesterday and was told that his tire was leaking from the sidewall. Very peculiar because the tire was never damaged and has less than 15,000 miles! They said needed replacing. $ 475.00 was the starting price for one tire!! Second time we went to this place and the very last!!All they do is upsell !! They lie about what is wrong. Point proven. We then brought the same car and tire to Firestone and they said a very small nail was found and they plugged it. $31.50 was my price at Firestone and they said have a great day! And I said I will now because you just saved me a lot of money lol. Stay away from this place! They have proven they are a rip -off more than one time. Ask people in your area about them! I tend to have auto troubles on Saturdays and Sundays. A few weeks ago, my brakes were starting to wear thin and I could feel that my tire treads were mostly gone as well. I wanted to wait for my usual mechanic, but I got impatient and headed to Mavis. The mechanic who looked at my car recommended two new front tires, alignment, front brakes, and rotors. The price was about $450, which was reasonable. The work was done fairly quickly. However, the alignment felt off. I figured things might be settling in, but realized the following day that the alignment was just way off. The car was pulling hard to the right. I wound up back at Mavis the following day. After a short wait, the same mechanic from earlier came out of the garage with my keys. I held my breath. He said "whoever was supposed to do the alignment last time barely touched it." I wanted to say something, but also wanted to go home, so I kept my mouth shut. The alignment was still imperfect, and the following Sunday morning my battery light came on. I had no choice but to go to Mavis. They checked the battery and other related components and said everything looks fine. They also realigned the wheels again. They finally got that part right. The next day, I wound up broken down on North service road. I had a tow truck take me to my normal mechanic. The alternator needed to be replaced. Mavis hadn't noticed. If you're in a bind on a Sunday, you might have to go to Mavis. I guess just hope your auto issues pop up during the week. read more

Went back to a different Mavis location to double check the oil change, and admitted there was a crack on my oil pan. That was never there before. They refused to provide a refund, $104 down the drain. They won't accept ANY responsibility & had a manager who lacked customer service skills. Don't bother here! BEWARE of getting your tires changed here. Had four new tires put on and I noticed the next day that my car was swerving left and right and felt like I was going to lose control over certain speeds. Had my car at another shop for a separate issue and they said "who the hell put those tires on? They put the wrong size tires on the back!". Fronts were 225/60R18 (the correct size) and backs were both 225/55R18. I brought my car back to Mavis a few days later and the fill-in manager that happened to be there that day was in disbelief that this happened. He was very apologetic (even though this isn't even his store) and had the issue corrected for me within the hour. I was extremely frustrated having to find time to come back for this STUPID and DANGEROUS mistake. I'm happy that it was fixed but I wouldn't trust them to do anything else on my car. They clearly have spam accounts posting 5 star reviews on google as well. Most of the accounts with one or no post history. Very misleading. read more

Please take your business somewhere else. I stopped in at 5:15 last Monday to have my tire checked. I suspected an issue as I've been noticing a decrease in the pressure. The gentleman at the front desk checks the clock, and looks like I'm bothering him. It was 45 minutes until closing. He tells me to pull around. I drove to the side and the mechanic motions me to pull in. He then proceeds to add air to the tire. This is what I've been doing for 5 days already! There was plenty of time to remove the tire and check it properly. I told him the pressure is going to go down again. He tells me to bring the car back if the pressure goes down again. Turns out the next day the pressure dropped again. I took it to Pep Boys who removed the tire and found a nail in it. Thanks for your Non-Service Mavis! read more

I'm shocked, all other Mavis I've been to have been great, helpful. Horrible experience here. Avoid it at all costs. I was ignored when I when I came in the door, and then had to deal with the salespersons attitude talking down to me like I'm an idiot. Afterwards they installed one of my tires without changing the TPMS rebuild kit and not it is leaking. To top it all off they scratched my wheels. I called corporate and filed a complaint so they asked me to bring the car back. They salesperson tried to tell me it was just dirty. You can see from the photo obviously fresh damage. They also did a poor job of balancing the wheel and it shakes above 55 mph. Since I now need to find a competent shop to fix their work, I will be calling my credit card company to dispute the charges. read more

He has no customer service skills whatsoever. He missed something in my car that when I brought it to the other Mavis they were embarrassed for their fellow Mavis employee that they missed such a obvious fix. This is long overdue. Avoid! I used to love coming here due to it's location it was so close to where I lived and even after I moved further away I still felt the need to come because Joe was awesome. They shifted managers and since then, it's a decline in their service. New manager is completely rude! At first I thought it was a good fit since they actually changed the decor in the place lol I have a permanent oil filter kit cleaner (K&9) and I mentioned it to them when I took my car to do a regular oil change! that I have the cleaning kit available (this is something that they've done previously, the mechanics there suggested it to me) they had no idea what I was talking about that specific day. I even said forget it I'll do it myself they said they'll figure it out. Long story short whomever cleaned it left it oily and it leaked into my mass air flow sensor. I found this out because my car started jerking and cutting off, I took it to another mechanic and they showed me how oily the air filter was. Please note that I've done the cleaning myself so I know it shouldn't look like that. He cleaned it up then said I'll need a new air flow sensor because it may have leaked and ruined it. Nice. Now since it needs to be replaced Mavis should pay since this was their doing. I called Mavis they said bring it in they'll look at it, apologized and everything, ok good. After I waited, the manager finally calls me to the desk and says "nothing's wrong with your car it's clean next time take it to a real mechanic not Stevie Wonder" in front of everyone. After I specifically told them that the mechanic cleaned it they still insisted on looking at it. So now we are having a back and forth in front of everyone because clearly he lacks customer service but is well equipped with gall and audacity. I've never in my life lost it in public with a complete stranger! Definitely warning everyone about them. Bring Joe back! read more

I have lived near this business for twenty years. I used to be pleased with the service and convenience of the shop being so close. The current employees are completely rude. They are frequently not busy so they sit in their personal vehicles revving their high decibel exhausts. Race up and down route 110 and even downshift to pop their exhausts up and down the neighboring residential blocks. If you support them you support this discourteous behavior. read more

I just left Mavis in Melville; NY and I was 100 percent satisfied with the service I received. On my lunch break I decided to stop in and see if it was possible to have my battery replaced. The manager said they will get started on it right away. One of the employees took my information and told me my options. Another employee, Kevin took my car and started to test my battery. He confirmed that my battery needed to be replaced I gave the OK. The replacement process was started immediately. I left with enough time get back to work and still grab lunch. Peter is the NEW manager at the Melville location and (1) he's *so* genuine, (2) he knows what he's doing, and (3) he goes out of his way to ensure that the customer feels comfortable with the work being done. Peter and Danny are the best (even though they are *cough cough* NY Rangers fans). When you go into their shop, you feel like you're visiting your friends. It's the "Cheers" of auto centers because, sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name. Peter already has his former clients from various parts of Long Island driving tens of miles to this Melville location *just* because HE is there. Now THAT is customer loyalty, and it's for those 3 reasons I stated above. You can call ahead and ask what the best time would be to go to STS in Melville, so you have a minimum wait. But, seriously, this place is so welcoming and Peter and Danny are so funny, that I almost wanna do an internship in auto repair there so I can actually learn about cars--because that would probably be useful in life--and it would be fun to hang out with these incredibly nice guys! read more

We went to STS at this location for over 10 years with satisfaction. Then Mavis took it over and it was still fine if not better with the woman manager they had put in place. About 6 months ago they changed management. We have been there 3 times since and each time it was a nightmare. We went in with a screw lodged fully into the tire. They brought the vehicle to the garage, took out the screw and tested the tire for a leak. Don't bother going here. Takes too long and they seem not to care. I needed a tire patched asked if I could get it by 3pm since I need to drive long distance for an appointment. I dropped the car off at 11:50am. They told me no problem. Call them at 2:45pm to make let them know I will be there and to confirm price. The car was not worked on yet. Are you kidding me. I told them I need the car by 3pm. I just told them don't bother an left. If you can't do the job dont make promises. If you are running late give me a call and tell me It will not be done. Fantastic place! Took my car in for an oil change and inspection, and I was given a very honest estimation on how long it would take. Later on I received a call that it had passed inspection but the breaks would need work soon and so they wanted to know if I wanted to them tuned up on the spot. I was in this location for my tire fix ,I had a flat tire, they tell me is going to take 2 hours,I said no problem cause I was working 1 Block away from this location, my shift finished 3 hours later so I call them and they told me, my car is going to be ready 1 hour later, so I wait the hour how they said and went to the Place and they tell me is not ready. My car was outside in the same place where I park. Was a simple fix of my flat tire, 4 hours to fix a tire I think was ridiculous, and the store doesnt look bussy at all,no car around the bussiness. I left my car with them at 11:30 and I get my car at 4:30. Is a tire company, really? and take 5 hours in fix a tire? Wow never again, I hope nobody make the mistake to go there. read more
