Complete disaster of a place, went in having ordered four tires, called me three times to tell me the tires were here, got there and they only had two. No apology no offer to help or to rectify situation. Clearly nobody double checked and made me wait 30 mins, while four other customers were complaining about other situations. Made an 11 am Monday appointment to replace a tire (nail puncture on the sidewall). Got there 15 mins early and was told it would be 40 minutes to get into the shop and another 40 for the work. OK, so much for appointments, so I went for a bagel. All told, an hour and a half from the appointment time, so not so bad for me. However, there was one guy there for 4 hours (8 am appointment) and another for 3 hours (9 am appointment). The desk and workers were very nice, but I cannot risk waiting there in the middle of a workday again. Couple this with a very bad experience with Jiffy Lube (obviously unrelated), and I think I will use my dealer for everything from now on. read more

Made an appointment for four new tires. Called the day before and was promised that my tires would be delivered to syosset that afternoon, so made an appointment for the next morning 8am. Arrive at store at 7:45 am and no one show to open store till 8:40 AM. Ridiculous. Go in and learn tires were not delivered. Told that they would come in the morning so left my car there. Turns out they didn't come till after 3 PM (according to employee) and didn't receive car back till 6PM 10 hours for 4 new tires. WHY MAKE APPOINTMENTS. I had a low tire pressure emergency with a psi of 29 and I pulled into Mavis asap. James the manager is a kind, caring, human. I explained that I was on the way to eye surgery with my Mother and I needed my tires checked, as I was nervous that I had a nail in a tire. Without hesitation, James got my car on the lift and his staff checked all four tires, added air and had me back on the road to my appointment within 10 minutes! James and his staff were so accommodating and understanding. When asked how much, James said, "don't worry about it, It was an emergency and you just needed some air in the tires." I was so appreciative and decided to pay it forward and gave James some cash to buy coffees and some breakfast for the staff. Shout out to Manager Kevin and Asst Manager James who both are so patient and communicative whenever I bring my cars in for new tires or flats. Making an appointment is always easy and they call when they say they will. This time I brought my run flat tire in because it kept leaking and they tried to repair it a couple of times to save me some money. The tire was too old to stop leaking but I appreciated them trying. I got a new tire and felt the price was more than fair as I price matched and I always find Mavis is at or below their competitors. I went in for a simple NYS inspection. I made the appointment the night before for 9am that Saturday, quickly got a confirmation email as well as an early morning email stating appointment confirmation. I showed up at 9:00, checked in and was told 90 minutes, so I went to Starbucks. They called a little over an hour and the car was ready. The gentleman I dealt was efficient and courteous and experience overall was very good. I have since read some of the other negative emails, but that was not my experience at all. read more

Perhaps a change in management has resulted in the drop in customer service and quality. Recommended training for anyone answering phone on available services and scheduling. Earlier this week, I'm driving on the Northern State Parkway in my Corvette. I have the bluetooth playing "Freddies Dead" by Curtis Mayfield. I'm feeling bad ass. Then, I have a tire blow out. Has it ever happened to you? I went from hero to zero in one second. What's the first thing I do? I look on Yelp for the closest Mavis Discount Tire. I have the car towed to the shop 3 miles away. I'm told, the tire is in a New Jersey warehouse and it will be delivered the next day. The shop manager said not to worry, I'll keep the car safe. I call an Uber and bootskoot out. Expensive, SLOW SERVICE, Everything takes "about an hour" Do not go to Mavis on Jericho Turnpike. They have taken SEVEN HOURS to complete a tire rotation and oil change for me. When I go there they say my reservation has been cancelled and have to rebook. Not worth the time or money. They were both very friendly and helpful, I live 30 minutes away but the service here is exceptional, I'll most definitely be coming back. Recommend anyone who is around to ask for these two. I had visited this store so many times (i have changed like 6 or more tires here and more than 5 times oil change). Every visit was great but this time. I had a bubble on one of my tires, I dropped the car in the morning, at first they said they need to change two tires to keep the balance and i doubted that since they had changed only one tire for me before (from here i was feeing they wanted to fool me). Then the guy told me the engineer would check and call me back. After 2 hours, one guy called and told me they can change one tire but the bubble was not covered by the Road Hazard insurance. I said no, it would be covered since i had changed the tire due to the bubble in this store before and it was covered and i found the Road Hazards Insurance and read to him that it was covered. The guy kept saying it is not covered. I asked to talk with the manager or owner and he said 'I am the owner'. But I knew he was not since I have talked with the owner before. This made me feel more like he was trying to fool me. The guy then said i did not understand his English and asked me to visit the store for explanation and hang up the phone directly. I walked 20 minutes there. Since I was thinking he was fooling me, so I tried to record our conversation in case I would talk to his manager or owner. The guy found this and yelled at me and refused to provide any service. I asked to talk with the manager or owner again. but he refused again and joked at me 'do you think the manager or owner have time to talk with you?' He said the mavis has good reputation. Yes, Mavis do has good reputation otherwise I won't visit the store so many times. but the good reputation is ruining down by those employees. read more

I stopped by here to get my 4 tires changed and everything was fine until the very next day, when I found that my front left tire was completely flat! I couldn't believed it! The last thing I expected after paying 1700 dollars for new tires was to wake up the next morning to a flat tire. I had to leave my 3 yo unattended at home while I brought the car to them again. I called their customer service department and I got no response from them about the matter, no even an apology. read more

I'm never the type to leave a review about a store but the experience I had today was so extremely unprofessional that I'm taking the time to write my first one on Yelp. This review is specifically about a worker named Kevin who was at the front desk today. Kevin is in severe need of corporate discipline or employee-customer interaction re-training because he is by far the worst & rudest receptionist I've interacted with in my life I made a reservation for an oil change at 11:00 AM today and so I went to the shop this morning as scheduled. The first red flag I should've noticed is when Kevin allowed a person in front of me--who had no reservation by the way--to cut the car service queue to get his car (a blue Kia sedan) serviced immediately since he claimed he had to be somewhere by noon. The second red flag was that when it was finally my turn to check in, I was told that the shop had no synthetic oil in stock despite the fact that I had made a reservation for a synthetic oil change. Up until this point though, I was trying to be understanding and so I changed my service request to a flat tire replacement. I asked Kevin how long I should expect the wait to be and he told me it should take an hour. So with everything seemingly good to go, I finalized my service check-in, provided my contact info, & handed over my car keys. So far so good despite the minor hiccups. But now here's where it becomes extremely rude and unprofessional. After an hour at 12:30 PM, since that's the duration Kevin told me, I called to check in about my car status and he told me that they haven't even touched the car yet and it'll probably take 50 minutes longer--third red flag. Now, I totally understand that these types of scenarios can happen for auto service centers when they get busy... But keep in mind the three points I mentioned above: 1. I had an 11:00 AM appointment 2. Kevin was the one who told me it should take an hour. 3. Kevin completely disregarded my 11:00 AM appointment by essentially giving my spot to the guy in front of me who came in with no reservation at all. So it gets worse from here. During that call, I asked what was causing the delays since I was initially told an hour. It was from this point, Kevin started responding back rudely. He mockingly replied, "Oh, so should we just let you skip the other cars? Get over yourself." This logic by the way makes no sense because Kevin was the one who let the person with no reservation basically take my original 11:00 AM appointment. So I questioned Kevin back using his own logic saying that he's the one that let another guy skip my service turn. His reply was that apparently the company policy states that appointments don't mean anything and that it is first come first serve. On a side note, I called Mavis HQ afterward to double-check his statement and they immediately refuted it saying Mavis honors appointments over walk-ins. Anyhow, Kevin's rude & belligerent tone continued and he basically told me to come pick up my car if I don't want to wait the additional 50 minutes. This is the worst part of the situation. At this point, I was frankly fed up with Kevin's terrible customer service and disrespectful attitude so I decided to go pick up my car. I hate being confrontational so I was willing to look past the unprofessional interactions up until this point and simply pick up my car saying, "I'd like my car keys back." However, as soon as I walked in, Kevin started making snarky comments like, "Oh wow, you actually showed up to get your car? Someone's mad." Kevin then proceeded to escalate his inappropriate comments further to cussing at me and telling me to learn how an auto service center works. At this point, I simply turned my back and left the shop as Kevin was continuing his verbal abuse. To make matters worse, I noticed as I walked out of the shop that a car that clearly came after me was also the one being worked on in the garage. The blue Kia was long gone and I should've been after but it was someone else's car instead. Kevin should be put on disciplinary leave immediately. read more

Had a chunk of metal in my tire and my local gas station was nice enough to put my spare on so i could get to the local tire shop. Mavis is directly on Jericko Turnpike and is always busy. The staff is very friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to help. Price for my tire was expensive , But the price was more in many other places. This Mavis location in Syosset is great! I have been to another Mavis nearby and it was nowhere near the experience I had here in Syosset! Dave the manager is great!! He's professional, courteous, knowledgeable and runs a tight ship. The location is clean, organized, and the guys working there know what's going on. Says he matches tires but substitutes speed aspect without your knowledge until you check it out when you get home. District manager does not return phone call messages in a timely manner Mavis customer service center says they are sorry but it's up to the dealer location to deal with it. Don't show up after 2:00pm as manager Joel says he can't do anything for you since they are closing at 6pm and come back tomorrow Mavis should seriously think about closing this location as we the customer choose not to come back read more

The manager Nasir is a horrible manager. He talks down to customers, has zero customer service experience and the employees do not like him. I came in one afternoon to have a tire leak fixed. Nasir asked me he would do it before they closed. After waiting an hour, he proceeded to tell me he could not do it and to return at 8am the following morning. I did that and when I arrived the next morning, he acted like he didn't remember me and told me that I would have to leave the car there all day. No apologies, just rude, unacceptable behavior. Mavis needs to fire Nasir and hire a manager that enjoys working with customers. Avoid this place at all costs. Would give zero stars if I could read more

I ordered (4) new Pirelli p7 Cinturato all season tires from Mavis call center to have installed on my car before winter snow sets in. I had these tires on my car already with 30,000 miles and was happy with their performance so I ordered the same tire. I spoke with a guy named Brian and he confirmed the tire model saying that his record showed I ordered the same tires in 2017. The following day I brought my car in to the Syosset Mavis center and confirmed the price and make but did not notice that they switched the tires to Pirelli Pzero instead. When I picked the car up it was dark but I checked the tires and found the discrepancy and went back to let the manager know the problem. He said I had to wait (4 customers in line) but I was late and so he said to contact call center and ask to speak with Brian. After 5 or 6 phone calls I never got an answer on replacing the tires to what I ordered. If the Pzero had acceptable ratings for snow I would not care as they are priced similarly. I asked to elevate to manager who is Michael DiGenero and left 3 messages which were never returned. I've been a Mavis customer for 15 years but that ended now... read more

My husband called in the middle of the week to inquire about 4 tires. We were told that they would be ordered and to call back on Friday. We called back Friday and they said bring your car in tomorrow morning at 8:30. We dropped off the car and received a phone call at 2:30 today and was told thecould not get all the tires. My husband asked why are you calling me 5 or 6 hours after I dropped off the car and the guy said to my husband things like this happen. Would give ZERO if possible. I called and asked if i could bring my car in for NYS inspection. Guy on phone was personable- said would take about 2 hours- bring it on in. I immediately drove out of my way to go there- and this RUDE tall blondish dude greats me by barking at me - GO AWAY- 3-hour wait. I tell him I just called- He starts barking again. 3-HOURS. I say, fine, leave it here... he barked again NOT TAKING ANY MORE ... he then gets in truck and start to obstruct me from leaving. TOTAL DOUCHE. Zero sense of customer service. I dropped my car off at 11:30 for a 12pm appointment to have the tires changed and was told it would be 2 hours, tops. Ended up taking 5+ hours. But that's not the biggest issue. I was contacted saying the nuts on the rear wheels were rusted and was suggested that I let them cut the bolts and drive around on 4 bolts until they could order new ones. I responded saying DO NOT cut them, leave the rear tires and I will bring the car to my normal repair shop. They said they would find a way to do it. Well, I just picked up my car...and the bolts are cut on both sides of the car. I said This is not safe and was told there were nuts on the cut bolts (there aren't, I have pics). They told me I can leave the car a different day and they can fix it, because 'we didn't have time to do it correctly'. So $600 later I'm left with an unsafe car with the place that made it unsafe saying they can fix it....if they only had more time than the 5+ hours they had it. There are few places I distrust now as much as Mavis and I'll now have to pay to have the job redone correctly by someone else, even though I specifically told him NOT to cut the bolts. read more
