While driving home from work I was alerted I was losing air in my rear tire. I pulled over and noticed I had a nail in my tire. I then drove into this tire shop at 6:15 p.m. I asked the attendant if they can repair my tire. She said they were closed, but maybe they would be able to help me. The manager said it would be no problem. Ten minutes later I was on my way. Tire repaired! Additionally the personnel I encountered at Mavis Tire was a breath of fresh air. They went the extra mile to please all their customers as I noticed other patrons thanking the staff for a job done well. read more

I only went here because my normal mechanic wasn't open yet and I went in early in the morning (around 8am) because of a flat tire and was told I couldn't get it patched due to a so-called "ring of death." On top of that, they tried to tell me my rear brakes needed to be done soon -- which immediately raised a red flag because I had just had my rear brakes replaced in December. Not feeling confident in what I was being told, I asked them to just put my spare on and went to my regular mechanic afterward. Not only were they able to patch the tire without any issue, but they also showed me there was simply a screw in it -- nothing close to what I had been told at Mavis. They also confirmed my rear brakes are in perfectly fine condition. (Which I figured as again the pads, rotors and calipers where just replaced by my mechanic in December) What makes this even more upsetting is the feeling that I was being taken advantage of. I came in wearing scrubs, clearly on my way to or from work in healthcare, and it's incredibly disheartening to think that someone would try to push unnecessary repairs on me anyway. It's not just about being a woman -- it's about basic honesty and integrity, especially when someone is trusting you with their safety and vehicle. I understand that shops need to make money, but misleading customers and recommending unnecessary work crosses a line. I won't be returning, and I strongly recommend others get a second opinion outside of this establishment. read more

It saddens me very much. This shop used an oversized plug on the oil pan from my oil change. Now that I'm in upstate, there's no way to find resolution. I'm disgusted. I have only gone to Valvoline, only reason why I went here was because of the convenience of the location from a relatives house during my visit there. Instead I just stopped in for a quote and even more so - I wanted smart advice on how my tires were. Really thought they were BOTH GREAT. My regular places seemed busy so popped in here. My car needed 2 tires and the others were old too. These guys had me in and out and I ended up getting four GREAT TIRES for fair price. Save yourself the headache and stay away. I'll try to keep this short. On 11/21 Went for an oil change. They recommended I get my rear calipers fixed and a brake fluid flushed. I listened. $560 charged but they quoted me higher, so I thought that was nice. Was told my car would be fixed by 2pm. I arrived at 2pm. One of the mechanics said it was taking a while because the mechanic working on my car wants to do a good job and something is up with the pedal. I get my car at 2:30pm. Now I have to hit my brake pedal really hard in order to actually brake. The next time I'm able to see them is 11/27. They quote me another $550 to get the master cylinder fixed. I'm stunned that they even suggested I pay for this work when there was no suggestion for my master cylinder to be fixed when I went for an oil change and this problem occurred immediately after they fixed my rear calipers. I call corporate. The GM says on 11/29 they will fix my rear calipers, but doesn't say anything about the master cylinder. I honestly thought that was implied. 11/ l29 Go to the store they won't fix my master cylinder. Told the person I have to call corporate because I'm not happy with this entire situation. One of the mechanics says F*** out of here while walking into the garage. I call corporate. They said they will get back to me and haven't. Told me they will fix my car. They don't even have the rear calipers to change on my car on 11/29 when they scheduled me to come in. A simple oil change turned into a headache. Just stay away. read more

I wrote a review a while back about a break pad replacement job that went from pads to pads, rotors and calipers. Had to do all or none of these parts. Pads were installed the next day, Monday, at my regular mechanic. No need for additional rotors or calipers. Saved over $500. Today's Daily News had an article about that horrific limo crash upstate that killed 20 people. Their upstate Mavis ordered a brake cylinder to be installed in that limo. Mechanic says part was never installed. Article says shop falsified maintenance records to meet a sales quota !Mechanic was fired. Called to see if they could do my inspection the same day for me. They said it would be no problem, but I'd have to drop it off and it would be 2-3 hours. They said they'd call me when it was done. 4 hours later no call so I called them and they said it was getting taken in now. I went up 30 minutes later and it was still parked in the same spot. They never touched it. The same guy who answered the phone 30 minutes ago, said it was up next. I took my key and left. Total waste of my day. Had to get a ride there and back for nothing. If they couldn't fit it in, they should've just said so but instead my car sat there for almost 5 hours for nothing. read more

I had my own tires and it was in rocky point so I went to Mavis tire shop in Mount Sinai the lady at the counter gave me the price of $258 just changing the tires ,I needed to get it done so I agreed after 3.5 hour waiting with no respect l paid .The bill was for changing tires replacing the valves and air pressure sensors. Then I checked valves they were the original old valves so I don't think they replaced those parts and it's unnecessary to do so and my car is only 2 years old asked other tire shops most of them said it's not necessary to replaced them unless needed. I was ripped off and overcharged and I could do that for only $100 I'm not happy and I think people should think twice for going to this tire shop and asked them what the charges are.why they charged me in advance before to check if they are bad . Somebody told me to go to Mavis in Mount Sinai , not Mavis RockyPoint . Long enough story short , I got brakes , rotors , tires , etc done for a nice reasonable price . The guys did not lie or give some sales pitch , I was treated actually very costumer friendly . They told me things that I don't need , that other shops told me I do and so on . Went here to get a few things done to my truc. The first time I went for new brakes and while I was waiting for the worker to bring it back from the test drive he comes flying in with my truck then starts reving the engine in park in the parking lot and comes out laughing with his buddy. I'm surprised at the 5-star reviews for this place, but it does not have many reviews. I have been to this store twice, both times have been horrible, but I will focus on the visit I had yesterday. I had a screw in the center of one of my tires--this is the kind of problem that is easily fixed with an inexpensive tire patch. It was a Sunday, and since my usual car repair place (STS Wholesale, which is across the street) was closed, I figured I'll go to Mavis. My mistake. Fifteen minutes after dropping off my car, I was called and told that the tire is not repairable and that I should buy four new tires. Now, I had my car inspected just two weeks ago and I was told the tires were fine--only driven for 28,000 miles. I told them I'm not interested in that. Then I was told the screw is on the side wall and can't be repaired. I knew that was not true, told the man I know it's in the center of the tire, and was told, "then there must be two screws." After some back and fourth, I was told they would "try" to repair the tire and would call me if they could. Four hours later, I still hadn't received a call, so I called them. The car was miraculously repaired and I could pick it up--thanks for the call. When I went to pick the car I was told "the second screw on the side wall was not in too deep and they were able to remove it without a patch." Now, have you ever heard of a screw being partially in a tire???? Anyway, if you HAVE to go there (like I did because it was Sunday) just beware. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and go to STS Wholesale. These people are liars and treat their customers like idiots. read more

I called yesterday to make an appointment for an inspection this morning. I asked the guy that answered the phone if they had availability in the morning. He said yes. I said what time is good. He said they opened at 8am and when did I want to come in. I said how's 9:30am? He agreed and took my name. I dropped the car off this morning. Originally, I planned to wait for it but something came up so I figured we would swing back and pick it up on our way home. We called on our way home, 4 hours later, but we were told the car still hadn't been looked at yet??? We were also told we were next and it would be an hour/hour and a half. 2.5 hours later we stopped by to pick up the car. But, it still hadn't been looked at yet??? What is the point of making an appointment if it means nothing and why lie when I call to check on my car? What a total waste of my time. We asked for the keys back and left without the inspection. I will take it somewhere else. Funny thing is, they said we can come back another day when we have more time. Are they serious??? They already wasted plenty of my time. Service writer said "oh, I thought you said if it was off to go ahead and do the alignment". No, that was never said. The agent did discount the alignment and give $20 off next visit. We make an appointment that said we will be in and out in three hours. When we get to the store at 945 on a Sunday I was told they had no idea what time it will be ready. I asked for a time window and they said they can't give us one but close at 5pm. So I asked can you give me an estimate so I don't have to sit around all day on a Sunday and wait. They said no. No sure the purpose of an appointment. That was not the biggest issue. When I was at the store they gave a customer a price over the phone for brakes when she said no it's to expensive he kept going lower on the price and dropped it $80 from the original price he gave her. Was quoted a tires with 50K mile warranty Received a different tire than quoted- but was told it was also 50k mile warranty. Upon asking for something in writing,I was told there is nothing they can give me other than verbal confirmation. Upon looking up Mfg Spec I found that it was ONLY 35K mile warranty. I spoke to & show the manger the info ( spec) I had - he claims it's not right, yet will not supply me with any info or anything in writing. Has never gotten back to me about this. JUST BE HONEST. I took my car in for an oil change and inspection knowing I probably needed new tires. I asked how long will it take and the guy behind the counter said about an hour and a half. I know that means two hours. I am still at this Mavis and it has been more than four and a half hours now. The guy just drove my car across the street because he said they ran out of inspection stickers. He has been gone now for 20 min. Wish I took a tent, please send food! I came in a few days ago for an oil change, the next day my car started shaking and when I brought my car back I was told it was a "weird coincidence" but the drive shaft is loose. Never had an issue with my transmission until now, and looking at previous reviews I'm going to assume that this hasn't been the first time this has happened.
