I had My appointment at Mavis Parsippany at 8 am, when I went there at 8:10 AM two employees were circling in the room trying to open the door twice then a gentleman opened the door and they both went in to work shop area they both were screaming on each other. SCAM CENTRAL Brought car in to have a tire slow leak repaired, while car on lift the kid advised I needed new rear brakes and an oil change and he "could do it right now while car is on lift". I politely declined as the oil and all 4 brakes were recently done 1k miles ago, this kid thought he could scam me. This poor excuse for a tire shop is straight up KLOWN KOLLEGE, bunch of amateur kids preying on innocent folks. I wouldn't let these klowns touch my lawnmower. read more

Returned today for the third time for the same leaky tire purchased at this location a few months ago. I returned today because on Saturday I was told that they were too busy and it's best to come by on Monday as it will be much faster. When I came in I was told it would be 2 1/2 hours and the waiting room was very dirty. I called another Mavis in Morris County and was seen within 20 minutes and had a very pleasing interaction. I will not return to this location even though it is only about a mile from my house. I'll happily travel the extra distance for the far superior service. read more

I see the great comments about this facility and it's manager Sheldon, and I'm compelled to add some balance to its reviews. I brought my car here to have 4 tires installed. All 4 tires installed were visually unacceptable (covered in with a white stain) I asked why they didn't clean my $1000 worth of tires. The reply was "the manager really tried, but had no luck". Long story short, I refused the tires. Called the corporate office. The corporate office response "If the tires PERFORM as expected, then you must PAY for any changes due to cosmetic concerns". (Pay for Re mounting/balancing a new set, pay cost difference if any, plus any additional fees/cost) Without going into specifics, I was fortunate that the facility had another set of the exact same tire available. Sheldon (mgr) agreed to install the other set at no charge. That decision is to the credit of Sheldon. The corporate response was the absolute worse example of customer service possible. It's for that reason I highly recommend shoppers seriously consider if this is the type of company with whom you would want to do business. Note to Sheldon: When you have a dissatisfied customer in your facility, take charge and address him/her directly. Don't use your employees to shield you from dealing with the unpleasant situation. Secondly, address the customer directly so they know you are interested in a resolution. You never said a word to me until I confronted you directly, and not again afterwards. I'm not so convinced you were interested in my satisfaction as you were with me leaving. So I won't be a returning customer. This is because I don't think you or your corporate office really care about customer satisfaction as you are about tire sales. Side note : I gave two stars because the sales associate seemed sincerely interested in making it better. And I do appreciate that Sheldon agreed to replace the set at no charge, when the corporate office was actually arguing I should pay more. The BEST customer service would have included a decision not to install the tires at all before I came to pick them up, or an apology, maybe an IMMEDIATE attempt at resolution, an offer of discount /credit for the inconvenience of having to return to get my car again. Additional note: I've reduced them back to 1 star because after having the tires for a couple of weeks I now see that they had just "shined" one the original defective tires and put it back on car anyway. I'm done with this place. Good luck to anyone who tries them. I certainly will never again. read more

My son had a flat on the I-287 right by the exit where Mavis is located. The manager came out and walked over to the to see if he could help us which I thought was great. We had already put the full spare on so my son was on his way but he earned our business by making that effort. I drove my truck with the blown out tire in the back over and asked him what tires he had in stock. He had three different models and I chose the Hankook which he put on. Horrible company. Went in for oil change and got a bill for 74.00 for 6 quarts of oil change. Wasn't given a choice of oil when I checked in. They charged me $74 for oil and $14.99 for labor along with $5.99 filter . They gave me $20 off. But with txs it came to $80.25. I have NEVER paid that much for oil change. Only came because I had flat tire and needed new one quickly. Was told that it would take less than hour, but first 30-35 minutes car was in garage with hood open and no activity. When mechanic did start work, he removed one lug nut, put it on shelf, stared at tire, then proceeded to take another lug nut off. Why he couldn't do multiples at one time is perplexing !!!! Watched the various mechanics working -- such a slow pace!!! Never seemed to do more than one or two actions before taking a break . My 85 mother moves faster than them !!! Beware! I've been going to this Mavis regularly for the last year because it's close to home and I let convenience win, now I'm wondering just how much unnecessary work they talked me into and how much money I've wasted. I brought my truck in for an oil change, fluid check and asked them to flush the transmission fluid. I got a call that they would not touch the transmission because the car was too old (a 2010), but that I needed my rear struts replaced immediately because they were leaking. However, they could not get just the part needed, they could only get the full kit to the tune of $300 per side plus labor. I was not going to put that kind of money into a truck that may need major transmission work so I told them just the oil change/fluid check and I'd come back for the struts. I then brought my truck to M&S Auto in Hiawatha (highly recommend them!) where they were able to flush my transmission fluid and put the truck on the lift to show me that there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with my rear struts and no reason for them to be replaced. They also found that I was completely out of coolant just 2 days after Mavis should have topped off my fluids. This was not my first shady experience with Mavis, they replaced my front struts a few months ago and the initial quote I received was nearly $300 less than what they tried to charge me when I had the work done. They told me that the quote wasn't in the system and the guy who initially quoted me was off that day. As soon as I told them to forget it and I'd go somewhere else they magically found the quote for the $300 lower. Their pricing depends entirely on how gullible and uninformed they think you are. read more

Mavis tire shop is a great place. However, there is a very disturbing and disgusting employee that works there. Although the service is good, there's one employee whose name is Mike who has a very bad odor issue. I will not come back there just because of this sadly. Mavis is a good shop but that employee Mike smells unbearable. His butt was hanging out in front of my four-year-old daughter. His pants was so far down his butt it was exposed. My daughter even pointed it out and asked me why his butt was hanging out. Then the smell was excruciating. I couldn't even stay in the waiting area. I would rather stand in the cold with my four-year-old daughter instead of inhaling the smells that came off Mike. I don't know if he's a manager but I do believe he's an assistant manager. And being a manager you have to lead. Other employees can treat their personal hygiene just like Mike which is horrible. I have never wrote something about someones hygiene before and I feel terrible about it but this has to be addressed. It is that serious. Mike smells so bad I smelled it through my KN95 face mask. I did install new tires at this location second time , because of convenient location. My biggest mistake was, that I accepted to replace brake pads and rotors at the same time of service. Within two months front brakes developed horrible vibration, Mavis guys wanted $600 to repair failed axle bearing . I went to the dealer of the car, got axle fixed and was told , that boot was ripped on the caliper by guys who repaired brakes .That's why all mess developed after ! The engine light on my car came on, and I brought it here because of the convenient location. The part I needed was available only through the dealership. They gave me a printout of exactly which part I needed, so that the dealership didn't try to sell me more than was necessary. I was able to obtain the part from the dealer, and then STS completed the service, at significant savings over what the dealership would have charged me. They were courteous and prompt in all of my interactions, and I will certainly be returning to them with any other issues that come up in the future. read more

I have five vehicles and had took four out of the five and I had some doubts about this place but it seems to be ok, until I when their on Saturday because my front passenger tire had a screw on it. I asked if they can plug it and was told that they couldn't because its a run flat tire and the screw was too close to the wall of the tire and that they didn't have my tire in stuck and will have to order. Well I felt they were trying to take advantage of me like I'm stupid and didn't know anything. I took it right after to a gas station up the street who fixed the tire for 10.00 and didn't see any reason why I should be concern because the screw was far away enough from the wall of my tire. I brought them 4 my new tires for installation and balancing. After installation, as a good guy, I donated to the black guy who made installation 5$ tips. However, after installation I noticed that all my tires have no original valve caps. There was installed some kind of garbage caps - 3 metallic and one plastic. I asked the "installer guy" where are my original caps and after that he brought and installed them... But this is not all of my disappointment. When I was driving to home I noticed some vibration on the wheels that means the tires wasn't balanced properly. And control shot: when I picked up my spare wheel (it is normal inflated wheel) at home to put it into storage, I noticed that the original cap from this tire disappear - there was no cap at all. Brought my WRX in to have an alignment done and specifically mentioned that i had just installed a new clutch and was still on the break in period so if they need to test drive the car please take it easy. I datalog everything on the car using gauges and an accessport tuner. Immediately upon getting back in the car i checked to see what boost levels were hit knowing that I had been taking it easy on the break in period i was very suprised to see the gauge had spiked to nearly 20PSI of boost meaning someone had been driving the car flat out which i had specifically requested they not do. Shame that you can't have a performance car worked on without fear that it will be blatantly disrespected by the people you hope will take good care of it. I will say that the alignment they did seems straight but they also had no printout of what the specs were which i also find to be unacceptable. Overall poor experience and this will certainly be the last time this STS sees any of my business. read more

If possible, I wont even give them a 1 star. SCAMSTERS. Went for a wheel alignment and thought I got a very good deal compared to other vendors. Ended up getting recommendations for fixes and changes worth $1000. They acted so well as if they were my well wishers. I had doubt so did not go for it and went to the vehicle dealer. Dealer checked and on paper confirmed that none of the changes recommended by MAVIS were required. Also, Mavis messed up my car computer system. After they did alignment, all my historical data went off - kinda reset/reboot. Avoid these guys!! read more

Absolute worst it was a month back when my husband went for getting tires changed, ac repaired, dome light checked and alignment set I was told to come inspite of an appointment i had to wait for 25 minutes... had heard great things about the manager and place unfortunately nome of the 5 star reviews do this place justice First of all i was told a certain set of tires will be installed we finalized the same with them telling me that the vehicle will be done by 11 am i called at 11:15 and was told that we do not have that set of tires so we will upgrade you at no cost. I also agreed on the insurance cost for the tires I told them to give me a time again they mentioned 2 pm i was not convinced so gave n extra hour however to my surprise the car was not ready even until 5 pm... when i finally went there they told me that the car was ready ... however to my utter dismay following had happened 1) the tires were installed - very shoddy job - dirty tires - they forgot to add insurance and then they told me they could not add it later 2) was told that their AC guy was not there and had left the previous day hence ac could not be checked 3) the dome light was not even looked at 4) the printer was not working so was told to come next day for the paper invoice I was so disappointed with that and to add to the misery the alignment was off Had to take the car again instead of getting everything done in 2 hours as per their original estimate got half the things done in 2 days I will never go to this place again Absolutely horrible customer service Sheldon is not all what he is made out to be.....Just in there to make a quick buck Would not recommend this place to anyone read more

These guys are fantastic. They are always willing to work with me. They have even kept the place open way past their regular hours to get my car back to me the day that they said they would (even though I wasn't in a hurry, they just believe in getting the car back when they said would. They have often told me that I did not need to do some things another mechanic had suggested because they did not need to be yet (or in 2 cases at all). They also happily repaired a hole in my sisters tire I thought was too close to the sidewall but they said was safe, many other garages will happily plug a hole that falls outside the area the manufacturer suggests as they know you are very unlikely to come back after them if it fails, I like to see reviews that show a place doesn't do that. read more

DO NOT TRUST! I went in yesterday on my lunch hour to have a nail removed from my tire. They told me they could not repair it and that I needed four new tires because they were all cracked. The tires are only a year and a half old so this did not seem right to me. Today I had a set of Firestone all season tires installed on my vehicle at Mavis. I set up the appointment online and received a call the next day to confirm the date and time. When I arrived at my appointment time they were courteous behind the counter and got my vehicle in and out in a reasonable amount of time. The only reason I keep from a 5 star rating is there is no way they properly torqued the wheel nuts, as advertised, while I was watching them use an impact gun. When I brought the vehicle home some were much tighter and a few looser than the 130 lb ft torque spec as required. I suppose all tire shops are lazy this way and they are no different. Nevertheless the spec is the spec. Overall, a good experience and Ill go back. read more
