I truly don't like leaving negative reviews, but unfortunately had the ole traditional up charging situation for an inexperienced car enthusiast. My Girlfriend brought her vehicle in just to get new tires but ended up paying double her estimate due to getting a wheel alignment and supposedly having a cross threaded lug nut. I replaced her brake and rotors recently and hand torqued the lugs to factory torque so there's no way that happened. Also, they completed a wheel alignment for new tires only which really doesn't need to be done and saw that the specs were barely off after being shown the diagram of the offsets. She got hustled into the extended warranties and new tire stems too because supposedly "she needed to get it all to qualify for the warranties". I'm highly disappointed in Mavis and as well as myself for not bringing the car in myself and instead trusting other mechanics that they wouldn't try any up charging schemes. I should NOT be able to get four Falken Wildpeak All Terrain 30 inch tires provided and installed for less than my GF economy tires from this experience. I'm sure the included free rotations are for other opportunities to bring customers in to continue this up charging strategy. Shame, shame, shame. I give 2 stars because Jose did speak to me to attempt to rectify the situation so there was an attempting customers service engagement but an overall unsatisfied BF and customer. read more

Recently went in for an oil change and tire rotation. there are windows looking into the shop. I commented to my wife that the tech didn't look too interested in doing his job. Tools, rags thrown on the floor. Long story short: two days later, quarts of oil are running down my driveway. The drain plug hadn't been secured properly. Two "managers" came to my house, tightened the plug, refilled the oil that has run down the driveway and took my truck back for an "proper" oil change. One manager Offered a free car wash and an interior detail. Pass on the oil change! They never made good on the other offers and my driveway is still a mess. read more

3 days ago I purchased 4 Michelin defender tires and a front end alignment total over 1500.00 Gave the so called mechanic a25.00 tip before he started,,,do to incompatance 2 of the tire sensors were installed loose and leaking air,,,and all 4 new tires had a different air psi not even close,,,,totally shocked about the so called quality mechanical installation,,, Hope the alignment, by a different mechanic was done correctly,,, They aligned the front with all different tire psi. * 8.29.23 Update at end of this original post. Not client-oriented, Probably dishonest. (See Brakes below and through many other reviews) Bought tires with a lifetime warranty, approx 16 or so mos ago. New tire, leaked...ok it happens. Took it back to Mavis, Told us they were able to repair it. 2xs I think were "repaired" versus just putting in the air. Through 12 months we have had to add air in this tire no less than 12-15 times. Took it into Mavis 3-4 maybe 5 times. I think 2 were entered into their system. So...there was no documentation of the times we have been inconvenienced. Had to get a bit assertive on the phone with the Assistant Manager, who was serely that enough was enough again asking for a new tire, again. She stated the new tire would be available at the time of our appointment. At no time did she state it would be a cost to us relating to a new tire. (We have an extended obviously worthless warranty) On top of this, on separate occasions of bringing it in for air, Mavis stated, "You need front brakes." On each occasion, we brought it to our Brake Shop only for the brake shop to tell us, that your brakes are fine and describe how much of the brake pad was still on the pad. The last time, a couple of weeks ago, we were told by the brake shop, that there is more than "50% of the brake pad. dishonest or totally Incompetent, you be the judge. Bad company with unhappy and bad employees. Says a lot about the company? Now, the Manager, states we have to pay for a new tire at a prorated cost according the the tread wear from TODAY, not from the first time we brought the tire in for air and asked for a replacement tire, a year ago. Conveniently, the tread wear would be much less than today's a year later. I explained to the Manager we have been coming back into his shop almost every other 3 weeks - month for the same thing for approximately a year, including stopping at any air stations. To charge us prorated as of today and not a year ago is just silly and very offensive. * 8.29.23 Spoke to the "Training Manager" Sean Speaking to this Manager for a good 15 minutes was not constructive. All Sean did was attempt to talk around me and poke holes in my journey with his company. Obviously, the company may not be interested in repeat clients. Do yourself a favor DO NOT purchase the extended warranty. Where this company gets you is they prorate the tread. Then, if the tire needs replacement, MAVIS charges the customer fees for example Tire Balancing. Which is where they get you. Customer WARNING...do not purchase WARRANTY. First time at your location in Somers Point was last week and I was approached by a young lady at the desk who immediately helped me and came outside to scan my tires to help me find my issue. She then scheduled me an appointment 1 hour later and had the techs take care of my issue and advised me on further help if necessary. Absolutely no respect for people's time. Every single time I come here with a scheduled appointment I'm sitting and sitting and sitting. They don't follow through with phone calls and I've been told by a friend they don't stand behind their work. Why am I here? I've got a simple tire plug that's needs to be done. See early comments where I was asked to call Mavis customer solutions department, so I did - four times, three times I was cut off, so the fourth time I asked for the operator and she assured me I would be transferred to a "live" person. took my car for an issue with my turn signal and battery. they had to order something to fix it. also said mice chewed up wires. long story short I spent $350 and they didn't even fix the turn signal. they recommended taking it to the dealership. however they told us this... after the charge had gone through. they're super sketchy and I don't trust them. save your money. go somewhere else. read more

I've brought both of my cars here for years and I couldn't be happier with the service. Manager and staff are extremely patient, understanding and helpful. I had paricular difficulty finding the right fitting tire and they had what I needed, already in stock. The tires took a day to come in and they were done the next morning. The manager applied some coupons and I got a real bargain on a nice set of expensive AT tires. They are consistently the best tire shop around. read more

Made an appointment 3 days in advance, received a call the day before to confirm I would be there and I told them I would. Drove the 25 minutes to get there 15 minutes early! I stand in line for 15 and when I get to the counter and tell Art that I have an appointment he asks if I am leaving the car for the day? I say no I will wait and he says it's going to be a while and points to all the people ahead of me and says "You can see why". I said nevermind and I left. I called their "customer service" and they put me on hold and called Art who told them he said I was next, lol, that's a lie. If I could give the zero I would! They did get my tires in, but the front tires came in before the rear tires (They're different sizes.) so I had to be without my car for an extra day to get them all installed. When I picked up my car, the spare they'd removed was just thrown into my trunk along with the rest of the packing materials, all of which belong in the well under the lift-up cover, secured with a bolt in the center of the spare. Now, I drive a convertible, so I can't put the top down unless the trunk is empty. What did they expect me to do? Pick up the spare and replace it myself? I went back in and asked for someone to come out and take care of it, and one of the mechanics reluctantly did. When I came home, I discovered that they not only hadn't left my wheel lock in the cupholder like mechanics usually do, but my husband had to go back there and actually go into the garage to the mechanic who had installed my tires, and find it in his toolbox‼ They tried to upsell me new brakes and alignment before they'd even finished installing the tires, but they failed to earn my trust initially, so I'm taking the car elsewhere for these jobs. As I left the office, another customer in the waiting room was going over some papers. She shook her head and said in a soft voice, "I'm never coming back here." And I will not be a return Mavis customer, either. read more

Stay AWAY! The husband took in his work/commute vehicle for new tires. They told us we needed new rotors etc. Fine, get it done all in one shot on a Saturday so no loss of work time, etc. WRONG. We took to the dealer for recall work and another minor problem and they found the WRONG SIZE ROTORS were used and now the pads are now FUSED and it is costing us ANOTHER 460.00 plus rental car costs because it has to stay! I will be calling corporate. Not even going to bother going to the store because they make you stand there and wait because they are in the work bays talking and laughing. FED UP! Staff was very nice and service was done quickly. However, the tire pressure light was on again the next time I drove the car. I took it to my local shop that I've used for years and they told me that there was still a nail in the "repaired" tire and that no plug or patch was found. When I called Mavis to inquire I was told they were sure they had fixed it and "there's nothing I can do about it". Will never use them again. read more

I used Mavis for new tires a couple of times in the past. Recently, they told me my brakes need replaced and would cost $1100. I passed and my took the car to my regular mechanic who said my brakes still got some time before it needs replacing. I was a customer for about 5 years but they have went downhill the last couple years. They take appointments but you still end up waiting hours for just an oil change. One time I made an appointment and got turned away. This week I had an appointment at 3 for an oil change. I waited 3 hours and came back just when they were about to close only to find out they couldn't do an oil change because they didn't have the filter in stock. I will never go back. Never. Ever. Use. Mavis. I made an appointment for 10 AM, was on time, told them I would be waiting while the did my front end alignment. After 30 minutes when my vehicle hadn't moved I did a little shopping nearby. Came back, still not moved! Went to lunch with the promise I was "next". Came back, still not moved. Again promised I was "next".after 2 1/2 hours of waiting I watched a technician pull some other customer's car into the bay....wait, what does "next" mean to Mavis? I told service rep I had an appointment and was told the appointment time was to talk to the service rep! Wait, an appointment isn't an appointment to have service done, it's just a foot in the door? When I said I wanted to cancel, because I obviously wasn't next I was told "Mike" was doing my car....after he got the wheels back,on the car he is working on. Out. of. there! Needed new tires, was told it would take two hours, so i waited, took over 4 hours. Said brake pads needed to be changed, dealership a few days before said they were fine. Tire pressure in one tire was 38, way over, and the others were apx 32. The manager was professional. Not up to standards, will not return. read more

Mavis has always served me well. They have repaired or replaced flat tires without an appointment more than once. They keep records of my warranties. They even have stayed open past 5 PM on a Sunday to finish work on my car. read more

Perfect service. Most honest mechanics on earth. Thats really hard to come by these days. This is my first car so it was my first time ever getting my brakes replaced. I fucked up waiting as long as I did to get my rotors replaced and they could have easily taken advantage on my ignorance to overcharge me and they didnt. Avoid at all cost! Rude manager, and incompetent service. I wish I didn't have to write such a bad review, but I really don't appreciate being ripped off. We have been taking our vehicles to a different Mavis in Sicklerville for years without any problems. So we felt comfortable taking our vehicles to the one in Somers Point when we moved near the shore. I wish I had read the reviews of this location before I made this decision... We brought our van in because of an antifreeze leak and they told us that there was a crack in the thermostat housing that was causing the leak and charged us $400 to fix it. Of course we assumed it was fixed, but the next time we drove it, we smelled a strong antifreeze odor and saw a large puddle of it where the van was parked. So we told them the problem was still there and they said to bring it in. Next, they said that there was a leak in the hose and they would replace it. When they said it was ready, they said it would be another $157 to replace it. We were clearly upset that they were going to charge us at all for the repair, because they didn't fix it the first time. The manager lied to us and said that it was only the cost of the hose, no labor was being charged. When we looked at the receipt we saw that they did indeed charge us for labor. We were upset because it is VERY hard to believe that there was a leak in the housing and also the hose. They clearly misdiagnosed the problem the first time and instead of admitting that they made a mistake and making it right, the manager chose to lie about it. When we called to give them a chance to make it right, the manager was incredibly rude and demanded that they did nothing wrong and refused to refund even the labor from the second visit. When my husband started to get upset the manager started talking over him and then hung up on him. Mavis has lost our business from here on out. read more

Honest people who want to earn your business. The last time my Girlfriend was at her Jeep dealership, they told her that she would need all new brake pads and rotors at the time of her next oil change. When the time came for that oil change we took her jeep to Mavis Discount Tire in Somers Point (where we had previously received good service for a tire repair) and told them we believed the car needed a whole new set of pads and rotors. The initial quote we received was more than we were able to pay and came as a surprise, but Mike at Mavis worked with us to get the estimate within our budget - telling us he'd rather we were comfortable to earn our business. We left the car expecting to pay the amount quoted for new pads and rotors. Later that day we spoke to Mike again who told us that the Jeep did not need new pads or rotors and in fact had at lest 15,000 miles until it might. Clearly the dealership had set my Girlfriend up for an expensive repair. Mavis Discount Tire could have taken us for the full cost of unnecessary parts and service. Instead, thanks to their honesty, they have a customer for life. read more

I came in for alignment $100 and left with a clunking. No print out of report given. The family had to use the vehicle. I jacked up the front end to find out Mavis left the alignment bolts loose and broke the splines off the top driver side bolt. Lots of play in one wheel. Never again. This place is terrible. I had an appointment for 8:00. At 8, Jose the manager, promised me it would be finished by 8:30 or 8:40 and that he would personally do the job. I came back at 8:40 and another worker named Johnny had been given the job and he had not even started the work. I observed him leaving the work space on his cell phone three times, disappearing each time for several minutes each time. This caused me to be late for work this day. read more

This place is horrible, I was here once before to buy tires and they tried to sell me everything under the sun and said my brakes were 95% worn. I took the car to my mechanic/neighbor and he told me that my brakes were still in very good shape. So I took the car back for a oil change, fix a small leak in one of my tires and get my free tire rotation. When I moved my car after I got home I noticed a large oil mark on the concrete. I looked under the car and the drain plug was put back on crooked with oil dripping all over the place, then I got in my car and I noticed that my tire was low again. They did not properly plug the tire also. I took the car back, they told me the washer was bad on the drain plug( I saw the plug in Crooked ) and I picked up another nail on my way home. They put the oil plug in correctly this time and as I started my car I noticed the the tire light was on. The tire they supposedly fixed again for the second time had low tire pressure. Pulled right back in got out put air in my tire and left and I will never return to this chain again read more

I've been here twice before last Thursday. All times everything was fine. While checking in I heard a mechanic talking to a customer saying his power steering fluid needed to be flushed . Just sounded weird to me. While at work they called me to say I needed new tires (I'm aware of this) and my power steering fluid needed to be flushed. I was in the middle of breaking up concrete and just said yeah do it. My truck has 42k mikes in it. I'm 52 never had I heard of power steering fluid flushing. After a few minutes I thought scam and called to cancel and of course they said it was already started. While paying 80$ for this I heard another mechanic telling another customer they needed their power steering fluid flUshed. I asked mechanics I know if they have head of this and they said no only if the power steering pump is shot. I will not go back and if someone tells you about this fix say NO. Girl at the front desk was very rude after entering. Asked a simple "how long" question so I could arrange my day and was told to "go ask myself" in a rude manner. Do not go to this business to get anything done. We have had service done twice & both experiences were horrible. First was to extract a nail from a tire and plug hole. It was a Sunday & our local mechanic was closed, so we took to Mavis. What was normally a 10 minute job took 3 hours. The ridiculous part of the situation is that they have large windows so customers can view the service area. We got to watch 4 technicians (?) stand around, talking, eating, and just generally screwing around for 30 minutes before pulling our vehicle into garage. We decided to walk & get a slice of pizza and when we returned 45 minutes later, our vehicle was on the lift, tire removed & on wheel balance machine. When I asked what they were doing because I just wanted the tire plugged, the manager told me that was the way they repaired tires. It took another hour to finish, once again watching the techs still talking and screwing around. Oh, I forgot to mention we were the only vehicle in the shop. Manager finally rung us out & told us he would forgo the extra charge of $5 because it was an SUV tire. Second incident occurred when my son needed rear tires on his small SUV. He is trading it in about 6 months & it was a holiday weekend, against my better judgement, I suggested he check Mavis. They had the best price & told him to come right in. He was told it would take about an hour, so we went to do some errands. 3 HOURS later, we finally got the vehicle back. Paid & left. Next day we noticed one of the tires was mounted with the rotation backwards. Called & was told to bring it right over. Explanation from the manager was "Sometimes rotation is confusing". Maybe the tech couldn't figure out the little arrow on the side of the tire. Rather than waste another afternoon, my son told him we would be there at 8AM the following day. We actually showed up around 11AM the next day & they were just pulling the vehicle out of the garage. At least they didn't try to charge him. The next day, they were on the Parkway & noticed vehicle wasn't quite right & he got a tire pressure indicator flashing. Pulled into a rest area & they had inflated the tire to 55 lbs. Tire was clearly marked 38lbs max inflation. These people should not be in the tire business or be able to touch motor vehicles. read more

Worst experience every! I went in for a simple mounting, balancing and alignment on tires I purchased online. Every rim was complete scratched from removing the tires. They broke the lug nut lock and broke 4 tire pressure sensors. The car is a 2015 Kia so the tire pressure sensors where in good condition prior to them touching it. Fortunately I took pictures of every tire before I went in. They tried to say I brought them in like that till I told them I have pictures. They had to sent my car's rims out to be re-polished. They replaced 1 tire pressure sensors with their off market part and the light came back on. I'm at the dealership right now getting all 4 tire pressure sensors replaced with original Kia parts. read more
