He patched the tire in minutes--at no cost--and confirmed it was a straightforward, safe fix. Unfortunately, my experience at Mavis felt like a waste of time and an attempt at an unnecessary upsell. My wife broke down on a Sunday in New York and was towed to Mavis. They researched the issue and did over $3500 in repairs on the front of the car - New tires, new brakes, a power steering flush, etc. On her way home, the issue returned but we were able to get the car to our mechanic. Upon seeing the work that was done, he couldn't believe the things they had changed. All of the things that they had replaced were things that had previously been replaced by them recently and were things that had passed Pennsylvania inspection. They found the issue was a wheel bearing in the rear of the car - a place that Mavis had done no work on. In his opinion, they saw a stranded out of towner and took advantage of the situation and did lots of things that should have been unnecessary. She said that she will give the staff credit for being very courteous. The work ended up going into the next day, and they helped her find a hotel and other things that she needed. Ray was extremely helpful and did everything he said he was going to do. We had to get two cars brakes fixed and he made sure everything was done correctly in a timely manner. The one thing I would say is they forgot to call and tell me the vehicle was ready but that was a minor hiccup. Definitely will be coming back. read more

Although the counter person who helped me had no control over anything and he was pleasant enough, I must give Mavis a huge fail! I had an appointment which was made two days prior, and when I showed up on time- the person at the counter told me that appointments don't matter- and the company shouldn't make them. So after waiting an hour and fifteen mins they took my car in, only to come back in ten minutes to tell me they aren't even a full service shop and my job was too big for them!!! Let's start with the fact I scheduled an online appointment for tire installation on May 30th at 8AM. So of course I go there at 8 and I'm told my tires won't be delivered until tomorrow and I was just about too receive a phone call even though I'm already there. So right off the bat I should've known. I spent over $1100 on brand new tires. Do they look brand new? No the side wall is so damaged from installation that when I got home and tried too clean them it would not come off. This is how I know it's normal for them to return vehicles like this because no one batted an eye. Again too any future customers of this place look at how they treated the brand new tires I bought. Came in for a tire rotation. They were done in 15 minutes. I'm not understanding the bad reviews, but I have had zero issues with this location. The staff is prompt and friendly, they found me in the computer with no issues, and if you pay for the insurance on the tires ($5 each) when you buy a new set, you get checks and rotation for free. Waiting room could maybe do with a little coffee station, but is otherwise comfortable and fine for the amount of time you spend there. I compared the price at Mavis to the dealership where I bought my car. The cost of four tires, with installation and other fees, along with an alignment was $352 lower. And I got the same tires I priced from the dealership. OK, the dealership has a slightly nicer waiting room, including cookies. But that wasn't worth spending $352 more. The staff was friendly and helpful. The next time I need tires, I'm going back and am happy to give them a good review. Johnnie (not sure I spelled that right), was very nice to deal with, as were the other technicians I interacted with. Glad I searched for the price on the web and followed up -- although I called the Buffalo store first (they didn't have four tires, so they made my appointment at the other service center). read more

On Wednesday, November 27 I made an appointment for Saturday, November 30 at 1 PM to have my car inspected. I just walked in to tell them I was here early for my appointment and I was informed that they have no availability left for the day and would not honor my appointment because one of their inspectors called in. I am now left a day before the end of the month with an expired inspection and a business that has no idea how to be reliable or honest. Then he came back and asked for my bank account info so he could take payments. When I told him I didn't like him asking for my bank info he started getting verbally threatening back. Had a positive experience with my time here! Didn't really have anything tire related to get done. My purpose here was to renew my inspection (I'm so bad at remembering to do those things). My car was overdue for inspection. I had to replace my rotars and calipers in the back before it was inspected. I called and was told to bring the vehicle in on a Sunday morning. The wait was about 30-35 minutes before my car was taken back but the inspection only took about 15 minutes but I didn't mind the wait. The staff was friendly and seemed to respond to each other as family. You can tell it was a good work environment for them and they all seemed to enjoy there jobs which is rare. Whe. You enjoy where you work you work better and take pride in your work. They also climbed under my car to remove the heat shield for me which was hanging and I couldn't take off myself at no extra charge. I laughed when I got back in my car because my radio was changed to "the outlaw radio" station. Overall it was a great experience. The staff was friendly. The wait wasn't too long. I gave them one star because zero wasn't an option. My wife went in for a new tire for her Subaru Ascent on Saturday. They told her they could have it done at 9 am Sunday. We went on Sunday, and were told they don't have a tire for her. Mavis has a call center in New York City, and apparently she spoke with them and they made a promise they couldn't keep. She was told they'd have it done for her at 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon. At 5:30 we called to check on the status. They said it was done. We get there and the car is still on the lift with the donut attached. The man at the desk apparently thought she had a Forester. After all that, they didn't have the tire for her still. We were told they can get us the tire by Thursday at noon. After repeated phone calls that weren't returned, we finally got a hold of someone at 6:00. They told us then that the tire wouldn't be in until Monday. After all was said and done, they hope for Monday, and might be able to get us $20 off. Long story short, we were repeatedly lied to, inconvenienced, and blown off. If their customer service is in the slightest indicative of their quality of work, they should have their license revoked. It's a discount tire place. Apparently you get what you pay for. read more

The service was prompt and reasonably priced. I went in to get my inspection done and dropped my car off. Before I knew it I got a call that they were done! So speedy and cheap compared to a few places I price checked. The staff was incredibly nice there as well. The woman who helped me, Ella, was very pleasant in person and on the phone. Terrible, scary! They could not find me in the computer system, even though I had been there before for a break job and inspection less than a year ago. They had no idea what type oil my vehicle took- wanted to put FULL synthetic, although it has always had synthetic BLEND used by dealer. They did not know what type brand oil they just used to change the oil. They asked if they could do a break check and "forgot" - there was no one else there but me and 4 employees - all bays were empty. They did not fill out the label that goes on the windshield to let me know when to have it changed again. They eyeballed the brakes and said I had 50% more life on my brakes, although I had just seen they needed to be done by September when I had 4 new tires put on elsewhere 2 weeks prior. read more
