AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This place looks to rip you off, and tries to take blatant advantage of female customers. My wife pulled in here after her car gave her a warning to get off the road immediately due to an electrical issue. This location was the closest open garage so she went here to get the car evaluated. After putting it up on the lift, they came out and told her the Alternator needed to be replaced for a total of $1,035.38. I told her the price was way to high, as I called the dealer and they quoted $734 for the same repair. So we had the car towed to the dealer. They put it up on the lift and found that the serpentine belt snapped and that it needed to replaced for a total cost of $279. They tested the alternator and found that it was functioning perfectly. Clearly the mechanics here at Mavis could see the snapped belt as soon as they put it on the lift, but instead tried to take advantage of a female customer up charging her to replace an alternator, when it didn't need to be replaced at all. Shame on you Mavis! Again, avoid this place at all costs, or it will end u costing you more than it should. read more

This decision comes after hearing of the unwarranted change in management, from one of the best managers I've ever encountered - Eric. Upon meeting him, he immediately gained my trust, which is difficult to find in someone handling my vehicle. I was taken aback by his unwavering commitment to delivering excellent customer service and his ability to make the inevitable longer waits enjoyable. Typically, I would be frustrated by a long wait time, but Eric's demeanor made the time fly by. I was happy to recommend friends and colleagues to this specific Mavis, but I will now rescind such guidance and look elsewhere for my vehicle's maintenance. While I hold great appreciation for Tim and the mechanics, I find it ethically immoral to continue supporting this establishment's change. SCAM ALERT: Brought my car in at 60K miles for a brake and suspension check, knowing that a rear suspension issue existed. Was told by Ali the manager that I needed new shocks in the rear for $550 and that both ball joints in the front end needed replacement for another $850 and possibly an additional $350 for other brake work, like new pads, may be discovered when they replace the ball joints. I decided to wait on front end work and get a second opinion. Different mechanic just told me my front end ball joints are in perfect condition and that front brake pads are 3/4's worn if I want to change them out now for $240 or wait a little bit longer. 1. I asked for " an aggressive all season tire ". They said yes we have 4 that will be great. I get there and they were NOT aggressive. They were "summer tires". I said they were not what I asked for for manager said " but they are the cheapest '. I said " I didn't ask for the cheapest, I didn't mention price". He just smiled. ??? 2. they did not give me back the 2 tires I asked to keep that had 60 percent tread left ( the garbage man came already... on a Thursday afternoon ??? ) 3. They MUTILATED several lug nuts !! EXTREMELY hard to get them off. NO RIDGES LEFT. When I called to complain the manager said they were like that. When i gave proof they were not he said quote " YOU HAVE TO HAMMER THE WRENCH ON . SO THE LUG NUT TOPS CONFORM TO THE WRENCH. WHAT?!?!? ABSOLUTELY NOT !! Maybe because I'm a woman he thought I would believe him. and think this is good business I told him that is incorrect. In no way does that happen. They make tools to fit. He refused to reimburse me for the tires they " threw out" and did not offer me anything to replace the lug nuts they damaged . This place is not the same it used to be. It must have been sold because there is a whole different crew working there. Dont go 3. After a month I have a flat. Came out to use the car and the tire is flat. We cant get the lugs off because they have damaged them so badly AND the tire is DEFECTIVE. The inner side wall has several spots where there is air escaping . In no way dis anything happen to cause this. So I Am stranded and the man helping me cannot get the lugs off. My Air Force daughter and my husband were driving cross country from Boston and they needed to get the tires checked because they had not been balanced correctly. (They were supposed to have been balanced at the dealership a few weeks prior when they put new tires on). I randomly googled a tire shop near Buffalo and Mavis Discount Tire popped up. I appreciate the company offers a free check on brakes/tires. What I don't appreciate is being taken advantage of. I went to the Cheektowaga store to have my brakes checked, and they told me that my brakes were bad and needed them replaced. I took my car in for a 2nd opinion, and was told my brakes were still good, and had about 20-30k more miles!!!!! Devon is the manager there and told me that they DO NOT take advantage of people. (???) PLEASE , if you go here, get a 2nd opinion! It's so sad that you can't go to certain businesses because they rip you you off so they can get commission . I'd rate this negative stars if I could. I went to get my brakes done and new tires put on. The first Mavis employee Devon stated "nothing is in here about brakes". I said ok can I get them done. He stated we will have to look at the rotors too. I replied ok give me a call when you have completed the assessment. Approximately 15 minutes later I got a call from a man who spoke broken English stating the rotors need to be done as well and the price doubled. I advised him I'll go elsewhere for tires and brakes. He then told me my vehicle won't be ready as the tech is putting on the tires. I told him again I do not want the tires then and I'll pick up my car in 15 minutes. I arrived at the store and was waved in by another tech who wore no name tag. He then told me it's hard for him to understand the other employee as well. He then tried to explain to me why I needed rotors. I told him I understand but no thank you. I'll get my car repairs done elsewhere. He then told me to calm down. I stated I am calm and now I'm going to record this, which I did. He then stated you can't record me grabbed my phone out of my hand, stopped the recording and dropped my phone. I then told him I'm calling the police. He said fine call the police, I'll just take my time getting your card down. The police came while I was on the phone with corporate. The man from corporate tried to get me to still get the tires. I told him I will NEVER do business with MAVIS ever again. read more

I am a fan; mostly because of my experiences at Goodyear and Monro. I've gotten my oil changed here several times and have had other maintenance service done and they had done right by me. They always make me feel like I'm getting a "discount" and the wait times have been reasonable for me. I always call first. There was one time that I called and the guy told me that the work was done, and I got there to find that it wasn't but the several other times that I have been there, they have been prompt and truthful in their service delivery. They don't seem to be one of those mechanic shops that always tries to upsell, but if they notice something that needs attention, they will let you know. They don't always provide the most professional service, but they're mechanics, so they get a partial pass. read more

I come to Mavis to get minimal repairs on my car to help me save money in the long run. Today I walked into the shop to drop off my car for service. I did not have a reservation and the shop was packed. They were able to take me in and gave me an estimated 2-3 hour estimate for what I needed done. The manager and an employee kept me updated with the service done on my car along with pricing - which was below what private shop would charge! I was surprised when they called me and told me my car was ready earlier than expected. Firm price and they ACTUALLY fixed my car! It drives good as new for an older car. However, the downside of the service was the dirt/oil/grease left on the interior of my car. I did notice there was no car mat (the paper type) left in my car when I opened my door after I PAID for my service. Usually Mavis is pretty good with putting down a disposable mat whenever they do their service but there was NO sign of this at all. Not cleanly and left my car smelling horridly like grease for the rest of the day. I must also mention, it was difficult to walk less than 30 feet from my car to the shop door because the parking lot was iced over. As someone who has a slight walking impairment, it was hard to walk across the lot to the door over a sheet of ice. Because of this I was unable to walk back into the store to notify them that this happened, because I did not want to fall and insure myself. I contacted their corporate service line to notify them of this service. Was transferred over a few times. I was then able to get in touch with the location's manager Scott, who was extremely apologetic and told me to come back in before they closed for him to check this out. Thanks to Scott the mess left on my carpet was cleaned up with an alcohol based cleaner. Friendly, quick service at a great price... but they really need to up their shop cleanliness and respect for customer cars. Took my SUV in for 4 tires w/alignment and balancing, inspection, 1 tie rod, shocks, and oil change. After picking the car up and driving for a day, I realized something wasn't right. So I returned the 2 days later because car was bouncing all over highway. At the time, I assumed it was because the tires not being balanced correctly. On my second time at Mavis, I guess the only work that was done, was to re-balanced my tires...going off of what I thought the issue to be and not diagnosing it themselves. My vehicle was not test driven off the lot after the issue was 'corrected'. Only backed out of garage to front door. I was also told that a tire balancing machine was not working correctly, and was originally done by hand. After I left the 2nd time, my car had the same problems of bouncing all over the road. So I brought it to another shop. Found out from the new shop that the tie rod was incorrectly installed. The alignment was also completely off when the new shop had it up on a lift. The new shop actually called me in, so I can check out what was going on before they would fix it. Needless to say I called mavis customer support and they were helpful. I did get refunded what I asked for. I'm giving them 2 stars only because the district manager was very professional. Unfortunately I will not be a returning customer. read more

Promised but can't deliver over and over again. Spoke to Scott the store manager. I was out of town when my tire started to fail 12/24. In a pinch I needed 4 tires but could live with 2. They had 3 in stock so I grabbed 2. At this point 4 stars. Back in town last March I was told they have a bunch in the computer but only could find 1. Come back tomorrow at 930 and I will have your tires. Well that failed (Scott). "Those are popular tires and they sell out fast." They must be rich how fast they sell tires. Wife went in on Monday, guess what the computer says they have a bunch, come back tomorrow. Doubtful I called the next day, surprise no tires. But this time Scott "clicked the button myself, tires will be in tomorrow." It's now tomorrow and they don't have the tires. Scott said you know those are popular tires and they sell out fast. Get the car on the lift and it all goes down hill from here. #1) Not the tires I wanted, no buy 3 get 1 free. #2) Tried talking me into unnecessary work not knowing I work as a mechanic for a living and I just had the car on the lift yesterday. #3) Ends up selling me tires that were the wrong size for the vehicle. #4) I spend more than I wanted to having a budget on the way in. #5) Don't even offer the re-bait form to me because IDK..nervous cuz they knew I knew they boned me. #6) Had to make a second trip to get the rebate form to get some of my money back. I had such a good experience in 2015 with them, I decided to call for tires. I did compare prices and was quoted almost 100.00 less for the same tire at 2 other places. When I got there I was told the call center did not give me the correct price and it would be 40 more. Needless to say that was unacceptable. Ulysses the Assistant Manager went out of his way to accommodate me. He made it work so I paid what was quoted. He was very nice about did not make me feel uncomfortable. Was not overly thrilled about taking our only car to this shop. Had a bad experience a few years ago and it stuck in my memory. But our mechanic couldn't get us in for another week and we really needed tires so a friend talked me into giving Mavis another shot. I've always known that "poop" always flows downhill, but this could very well be the poster child for that saying. Scott, the current manager, is the polar opposite of the one I had dealt with the time before. And I could see the effects of his demeanor in every employee in the place. Scott was friendly, helpful, and found the perfect tire for our budget. I brought my vehicle in 8:00 the next morning and, despite being very busy plus short-staffed, they had my tires were done and I was on my way home by 10. Scott knew I had an appointment with our mechanic so he didn't try to pad my bill, which is yet another big plus for me. One last thing. While I was waiting, I saw Scott handle a serious pricing issue as the result of an error made by online customer service. The online rep had used incorrect codes for mounting & balancing and for discounts that were well out of date. The customer had driven from Springville based on the quote they were given. Most "managers" would have just blown the customer out of the water with a flat out "Whoever you talked to messed up. I can't match that price. Here's all I can do," followed with "take it or leave it." Not Scott. He took his time and went through the quote line by line, patiently explaining each error and ensuring the customer understood each point. Then he not only gave the customer several options, he did his best to keep the total cost as close to the online quote as he could. As a result, the customer was happy and Scott salvaged the transaction. Scott might not ever see that customer again but I'll bet that customer will go to another Mavis before he goes anywhere else. IMHO, that's what makes a great manager and that's why I'll go back to this location the next time my regular mechanic can't see us right away. If you've been burned by the employees at this location in the past, I strongly recommend you give them another try. read more

If I could give a -10 rating I would! Worst experience ever. I needed new tires for my car so I called in for a quote and made an appointment to get the tires. As it turns out my serpentine belt ended up breaking before me appointment so I had my car towed there the night before my appointment. Day of my appointment someone calls me, I believe his name was Davon, stands at the front desk and says that there's all these issues that needed to be fixed also (brakes, shocks, springs, muffler, tail pipe, pulley) so I told him to go ahead and do what needed to be done. So he told me the price was going to be $1400 for everything. I go there to pick it up and he said that they ordered the wrong part, that it would be a little bit longer to put it in. Also that it was going to be more money now because this correct piece was more money like it was my fault that they ordered the wrong piece in the first place and quoted me a certain price. So now the car is all set and the mechanic parked it in the parking lot and then the manager says to me just give me a few minutes we are having a work meeting. Like excuse me? You can't just cash me out? Horrible customer service! As I'm waiting 25-30 minutes there's other customers coming in and out getting waited on. I finally had enough and just stood by the register/computer. Then no one even came from the garage to cash me out for another 10 minutes. Then finally Davon came out saying oh you should of said something. Why should I have to say anything? You know my cars out there and you know I need to cash out. He can tell I'm pissed because then he says to me well you should be happy because this was a $2500 job and I gave you a $1000 off. Well first of all you told me it was only going to be $1400 and then you charged me almost $200 more. Also when I first called for the tire quote it was a completely different price for what I had to pay. Now I'm going to leave and I get in my car to turn it on and now my ABS and traction control lights were on and I was like wtf? These lights have never been on in my car. I go back in to tell them so they send one of the mechanics out to test the lights. Which took another 25-30 minutes because the machines weren't working. Once the machines actually worked he said it came back as my left rear wheel speed censor circuit broke. He's like oh yeah that's an expensive part I would just let the lights just stay on because I can't reset those. So I said I him so this sensor just randomly broke while my car was here? He said these things happen, there's nothing we can do. Now I'm pissed because these lights have never been on before. They just did my brakes and now there's an issue so obliviously someone broke it while doing them and they don't want to admit to it. I go back inside and demand that someone fixes it, so the manager after 10 minutes finally tells me he can have someone fix it but I'd have to leave my car there again overnight. Huge inconvenience. Next day comes the Davon calls me and try's to tell me that this piece that's broken, broke 3 days ago. Which was complete bullshit? How do you know exactly when something breaks. They just didn't want to admit that someone broke it and basically calling me a liar. How do you treat a customer like that? I go there to get my car and here I am standing at the computer and Davon was standing there looking down like he didn't hear me. I stood there for at least 2 minutes without him saying one word to me. I just wanted to leave because I've had enough of all the bullshit they put me through so Davon handed me the keys and I said thanks and went to leave and he starts yelling you're welcome over and over again like I didn't say thank you. And then he was yelling what's y'all's problem and I just left because he was being extremely rude. Safe to say I will never go there again. I'll definitely make sure that everyone I know will be aware of what they put me through and that no one should ever go there because they're completely unprofessional, rude, and try to take advantage of you. I have used this place before, but I was very disappointment with my most recent experience. I remember my last time there that everything worked efficiently, and I was given my car in a reasonable turnaround time; however, I think it is under new management because I did not have the same experience this time. In short, I took my car in at 1pm to get 2 new tires and a NY state inspection and was informed that it would be a 2 hour turn around (making it 3pm for a pickup). I thought that was fine and went to lunch with a friend; however, when I came back for my car I saw that it had not left the parking lot. I asked the manager why the delay and he said he was working on it and that it would be the next car. I waited an hour and at 4:15pm (now at 3 hours in the shop) I saw them finally bring my car in for inspection and tire change. (NOTE: There is a window so you can watch what people are doing. During the time I was waiting, I watched the workers joke around and karaoke style sing while not working. I think its fine to have fun at work, but not when people are waiting.) At around 5pm (now 4 hours since the car was dropped off) I was informed my car would be done in 15mins....I waited until 5:30pm and watched the men in the back rivet tires unrelated to any customer work while my car sat unattended. I asked the manager how much longer and stated "I am pretty easy going, but this is taking a very long time". (ALSO NOTE: I saw 2 people come in and out during the time I was there, each only waited 30 mins total.) The manager informed me that it would only be 15 more mins and the car would be done. At 6:00pm, when they close, (now 5 hrs into my wait) and I was the last person besides the workers in the place, I approach the manager again and said "I need my car tonight, I don't care if you don't get everything done, but I need it back." Then he said, 15 more mins and it will be done...at least this was a real 15mins and the car was finally returned 5 hrs (and 6mins, but who's counting) later. He discounted me $10 for my wait...really?!?! This was not a fun experience at all and although I liked them in the past, I will not be going back there. read more
