Had a new set of tires installed. He called me and said he didn't have that brand anymore, would give me another tire of equal tread life and warranty. I dropped the car off at 8 am and was told the car should be ready by 10. They called and said they only had 3 tires and the fourth wouldn't be delivered until after 2 pm. I was called @ 5 pm (closing time) and told the car was ready, I replied that I was busy could they leave the key in the car I would pick it up and pay them in the morning. I'm a repeat customer. He said no I had to pay now even tho I couldn't pickup or checkout the car. Don't think I'll be going back to Mavis on Rt 17 next to Scrubby's in MI read more

There are 2 Mavis fairly close to one another so I hope I have the right one. The one I went to would be the most southern of the two in Murrells Inlet. Made appointment for my car that morning for two tires, dropped it off 2 hours before the appointment. Was called two hours after my appointment time and was told my car is ready but they weren't able to do the alignment, the tech who does alignments had to leave early. So I can schedule a appointment for the alignment. Went thirty minutes later and found out nothing was done. The lady at the counter who I just spoke to thirty minutes prior wasn't sure if they did the tires. She sent someone to check, and the car was in the same space I parked it at 1230 that morning and nothing was done. This is the second time I had a issue, I decided to give them another chance. Was told I didn't need an appointment to get two tires mounted.. Dropped car off early not done by 10:00.. Then they couldn't tell the difference between brand new tires and my old ones! I went for a flat tire. They wanted to replcae BRAKE PADS and change brake fluid. After almost 4 hours My cost went up around 400 dolars. I didnt authorize rotors to be replaces. They were working at a sbails pace with no updats on time. Im a lawyer who works evenrywhere I go. Time is very valuable on my cases. Later they agreed there was a $200 dollar sale on brakess. My cost was reduced by 300-4--. Later My girlfriend went to mavis at lake Norman. They wanted 29 to change oil. WHen it came back it was over 70. They wanted 700 for a brake job, They said the wipers were bad. They had just been replaced. I feel they will go after every nickel knowing most wont question them. Id try and find another place. Was willing to pay a higher oil change price because Mavis scheduled appointments. Arrived a couple of minutes before my 1PM appointment, as a lady was leaving, upset that she was still waiting from a 12PM appt and her car had not been taken to the bay. Merrills Inlet Mavis is not as convenient from Pawleys Island, but an hour wait to get to my service, is available at much closer centers. As I cancelled my appt. the man behind the desk apologized and stated, we still have cars on the racks, so what can I do! From my perspective, would expect Mavis to manage its business, if they are going to offer appointments. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I came in with a perfectly working vehicle in need of a patch for a nail and when I received my car back the plastic part of my gear shift was completely broken and my car was barely shifting gears. When confronted about it, the manager or whoever he was, claimed it was "like that" and would not accept responsibility, and treated me like an idiot because I am a female. This is a DISHONEST and misogynistic business who you should NOT give your money to. read more

I brought my RAV4 Hybrid in for tires and alignment. The tires were pre-ordered and I dropped off the car early AM. When they went to align the car they caused an undervoltage that wiped out the car's operating system. When they turned the car back to me near 6 PM, it had continuous brake and wheel sensor errors and the hybrid system was not working. The errors were so continuous, the car was nearly un-driveable for any distance. It took a local Toyota dealer 5 hours of programming and diagnostics. The repairs cost almost as much as the tires. I did provide the Toyota diagnostic report as well. I presented the bill-still waiting for a response 3 weeks later. DO NOT GO TO MAVIS AT MURRELLS INLET if you have a hybrid or probably any modern car. They do not know how to work with Hybrids. I waited before positing this to allow them time to cut me a reimbursement check. I gave them two stars because the service manager, Chris took responsibility but couldn't get his company to do the same. *EDITED 07/25/22* UPDATE-The company took responsibility and reimbursed my proven damages. I do respect that the local manager did the right thing and so did the company. I gave them a 3rd star for the company supporting the store. They did the right thing. I'm not sure about bringing a hybrid here. I may add to this review later. read more

My family recently pulled our RV to Huntington Beach state park for a long weekend. Upon our arrival, I realized I had a problem with two tires on my RV. What's worse they needed to be replaced. Not being super familiar with the local shops in the area, I called Mavis since they were a large chain. After learning they didn't have the tire brand I was interested in, Chris stepped in and helped me with a superior alternative. I dropped my damaged tires off to have new tires mounted. Chris was great throughout the whole process with strong customer service including regular updates and a quick turn around. He was empathetic to my situation and made it easier for me to quickly get back to my vacation. read more

I brought my car in because there was a nail in my tire and it was going flat. My car was immaculate, without a mark anywhere on it. I do not even run it through a car wash. I personally hand wash it to prevent scratches, etc. As soon as the kid who fixed the flat put the tire on back on the car, I inspected the wheel and noticed the wheel was dinged. I said something to him about it and he said, "Yeah, our machine does that sometimes. It did it to a Corvette wheel earlier today. I will let my manager know." The manager goes over and looks at runs his greasy thumb over it to feel it and then tells me their machine could never do it. I call BS, tell him there is not a single mark anywhere on the car and tell him to look it over. He made a comment on how there was dirt in the gouge and if their machine had done it, the gouge would be clean. Well, after two of them rubbed their greasy thumbs over it... Duh! He showed me their machine and right on the machine is a metal bar that they use to remove the tire from the wheel right there. I took the metal bar and the end of it is the EXACT same size as the gouge on my wheel. Fits like a perfect puzzle piece. We went back and forth for a while and then he said I would have to file a claim and took all my information. He said I would get a call early the next week since this took place on a Saturday. I never heard back, so I called on Thursday and was told that his "two big bosses" denied the claim and tried to say it was road hazard damage EVEN THOUGH THE KID WHO FIXED THE FLAT ADMITTED IT! The store manager gave me the number for corporate HQ. I called, was put on hold and then told a regional manager would investigate and then call me back later that day. I never received a call that day or the next. SUPER shady outfit. An employee who did the tire repair admits to damaging the wheel and the company does not agree to pay for repair. This will be the last time I do not take pics and video of things before getting it repaired. Total sham company. DO NOT go there if you have nice wheels. What should have been a 30 minute fix caused me to leave my car there overnight and when I went back to get it Sunday at 3:00 which is well within their business hours posted (which says they close at 5:00) they were closed. Our college daughter was ready to go back to school after thanksgiving break and we noticed her tire was low, nearly flat! Driving 5 hours to UGA, we needed the tire looked at quickly. Bobby and the team at Mavis in Murrells Inlet SC Checked the tire and found a leaking valve stem. They checked the tire pressure sensor and found it to be working properly, so only needed to repair the valve stem. All four tires were checked and inflated to the proper pressure. We were out the door in about 15 minutes. I highly recommend these guys! Honest, and fast! We will be using them for oil changes and our tire needs from now on!
