NOTE: We had a yearly service plan with MAX AIR. Supposed to be quarterly, but they only came once. Once we realized that we were responsible for scheduling the services every quarter, we didn't buy another year (we also have a few other services for mosquitos, mowing, and septic, all of these call me to schedule). They mention no issues during their servicing. 23 June (Tuesday) 1. They come because the A/C is running a bit hot. They find ice, turn on the heater to let it melt. 2. They return, find a leak, tell us the coolant is empty, and tell us the coil is busted and needs to be repaired. Say it'll be around $4000 if warranty doesn't cover it. 3. They charge us $515, and provide no breakdown of what this charge is for. This is weird to me, because usually the appearance fees are waived when you buy product. 4. They tell us not to turn the A/C back on as it might damage it, and then we'd have to get a new one. 5. My girlfriend calls after closing and leaves a message detailing how our dogs are not doing well in the heat, so we really need to order the parts and get the fix completed ASAP. 25 June (Thursday) 1. We have not heard from MAX Air. My girlfriend calls to see when the parts will be arriving. We are told the parts were not ordered and can't be ordered until we sign for the bill. 2. They send the bill immediately (why did we have to call for it?), no warranty, price has risen to $5500. (Note that they did this same song and dance with our other A/C in 2024, with the home guy quoting low and the office jacking up the price and saying "our technician shouldn't have quote you that"). 3. They send another email stating that we should just get a new system instead. 4. They send another email with new system prices ranging from $13K - $20K. 5. I order an in-window A/C from amazon, and call another business about the A/C. They can't make it until Friday. 26 June (FRIDAY) 1. The new guy shows up, immediately finds that the HEPA filter is broken. He checks the coolant and sees it's not low. He also sees no damage on the coil. He starts investigating the duct pressure, sees that there have been 127 alarms for low pressure. 2. He removes the HEPA filter, turns the A/C back on, now it's working normally. Note that MAX AIR installed this system, and the HEPA filter, and the MAX AIR guy who came out didn't even know the HEPA filter existed. 3. He advises that we should install a return in the basement (there are none), and that will work to correct the pressure. He tells us to monitor for a bit. 4. I call to get a refund from MAX AIR because they did not operate in good faith. Everything they did was pushing us to get a new system. This is what they did when our other A/C broke in 2024. Startling pattern. They tell me that the owner must do refunds and he's out on a job, he will call me next week. Trying to get a refund: 26 JUNE - The initial refund call above. 30 June - I call Tuesday, and am told that the owner was at a job, and would return tomorrow. 2 July - I call Thursday, and am told that the owner had been on vacation all week, and would return next week. 9 July - It's Thursday and I haven't been called. I call, owner is in a meeting, will call me back. 9 July - 4 PM, the owner still hadn't called, so I sent this entire review to their "contact me." 10 July - I am publishing the review. I guess I will eat the loss. TLDR: I have three large issues. Max Air installed the equipment, and "serviced" it, and didn't know that the HEPA filter existed or was broken. Max Air on every occasion we have worked with them pushing the new A/C, and this time another company confirmed that there was no need for a new A/C. Max Air dodging my questions about a refund with a mysterious owner who apparently can't pick up a phone. read more

MaxAir has done an excellent job maintaining my HVAC system for over 20 years. When it was time to install new equipment a couple of weeks ago, they were my first choice. From placing the order to the installation of the new heating system, it all went flawlessly. Steve, Jeremy and Rob arrived at the time I was told to expect them. They put on those disposable shoe covers before coming inside. I am 80 years old so that consideration was greatly appreciated. Steve went over what they would be doing and gave me his estimated time to complete the job. The guys went to the basement and from then on, they used the basement door to go in and out. I almost forgot they were here. They let me know when they were leaving for lunch and when they would be back... they closed the backyard gate so my little dog wouldn't get out of the yard. When it was close to finishing time, Steve said they were done. I could see the outside unit from my porch...a very neat job... but it wasn't easy to go to the basement. Steve thought the stairs might be a problem so he had taken a couple of pictures of the new air handler. They did a very neat job taping the ducts, etc. They cleaned up the wire scraps, any metal and any paper and trash. Then Steve installed the new thermostat on my WiFi system and explained I could change the settings from my recliner! I am very grateful for the training, professionalism and thoughtfulness of these three young men. MaxAir uses top of the line, brand name equipment, and that's important because you get what you pay for. But so is good customer service. That has to come from the top down...and it's priceless. read more

I contacted Tracey (one of the owners) at MaxAir about an AC problem I was having. The next day, he had one of his technicians visit my home to look into the issue. The technician was very thorough and professional, and offered me reasonable options to get my AC working properly again. Ultimately I decided to replace the system. Tracey was super diligent in offering several options of rightsized HVAC systems from which to choose, that would cool and heat my home much more efficiently than the previous unit, and at a very comfortable price point. On the day of the installation, the MaxAir crew arrived 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time. AWESOME! Also, Mike (one of the owners) took the time to stop by during the installation to make sure I was satisfied with the work being done. I couldn't ask for much more than that! The MaxAir team was completely professional throughout the entire process. They answered all of my questions about the new system and made me feel comfortable that I made the right choice. I have American Home Shield and Max Air was the company assigned to me after another company came out THREE times and failed to fix my AC which wasn't keeping up on hot days. Max Air finally seemed to fix the problem! The tech replaced the start capacitor and the indoor temp now stays consistent. Quick and easy. Recommended. read more

The tech had to come out two times in a period of 2 weeks to fix a two problems that were originally identified by a previous HVAC company (could not use due to home warranty). I am not sure if it is the fault of MaxAir or the issue that they are serving the Home Warranty Co. and not the homeowner. read more

When a previous company I'd used couldn't get to my broken AC on this sweltering day I looked at Recs by neighbors and called Max Air. They were able to fit me in, made sure to call and tell me what the ETA was. They found the problem quickly and I had no concerns about professionalism or competency. It was an expensive day but how could it not be when it is humid, nearly 100 degrees outside, and I just called out of the blue hoping to get on the schedule ASAP. First this company was able to give a quote without charging a service fee. Free quote. They were reasonably priced and helpful both at the onsite visit on over the phone. John was the technician who quoted us for the job and conducted the AC unit's disconnect. He was helpful and quick. Then Alan and Pat were the technicians who arrived the same day after I leveled and built the platform. They answered all my questions, stuck around until we got the system working and gave me some tips for future installs if I ever needed to rebuild the platform or level it again. I would recommend these technicians and this company. I want to focus in on the pricing. I called 3 other companies and for the same job MAXAIR was beating them by over a thousand dollars. Called in for service since the property I bought in August the maintenance wasn't up to date. Had the service tech "Romy T" came in and he checked everything, cleaned my condensate line, cleaned my filter unit, and informed me that one of my capacitor was weak and gave me an option to wait till the spring to replace when they come back for cleaning but I informed him to just replace the part. Very polite guy, honest, very professional, put on booties before walking onto white carpet and got the job done. I recommend Max Air to all my family & friends with this fast service. MAX AIR solved the problem with the heat exchanger in our furnace in a timely and professional manner. Furthermore, they identified the root cause of the issue which was bypassed by another local HVAC service company. MAXAIR worked closely with our home warranty company to ensure the replacement "heat exchanger" was covered under the manufacturer warranty. We were so impressed with Marvins knowledge and professionalism that we decided to upgraded to a controllable thermostat, which he installed and trained us on. Way to go MAX AIR ! I called MaxAir to look at my air conditioning unit, which was not cooling the upstairs portion of our house. I was required to use MaxAir because they are associated with my home warranty. I received a phone call, informing me of what the technician would arrive, and he was right on time. Juan, the technician, was very knowledgeable, and helped me identify the problem with my unit. Nothing was technically broken, so no further action was necessary. Therefore, I cannot rate them on fixing a specific problem, but they were very helpful and informative. read more

This is the second time we have used MaxAir, and both times we have been impressed with the technician's (Dereck's) knowledge, professionalism, and efficiency. When he visited last Fall, he inspected both units, cleaned them and the drain lines, as well as removed leaves impeding air flow. Today, Dereck replaced two duct lines with insulated flexible duct.
