The best steak and fried pickles in town, I love how you can't smoke in the bar anymore, real laid back place. Love it.

BJ's in Palmdale gave us the tip on Maxdons last night as we were craving fried pickles. What a great favor our server did by recommending Maxdons. We had 1 large and 1 small ribeye tonight. Oh my gosh!!! They were perfectly cooked and oh, so juicy. The mac and cheese was great. I can't say enough about the fried pickles. The salad bar had everything we wanted. Mellow, baby, mellow. Stopped in after a day full of meetings for a cocktail and some down time. It does feel like you've stepped back in time a bit -- from the red vinyl booths to the prices! I asked for a Manhattan, and a few minutes later the bartendress asked, "You wanted it up, right?" I said I did indeed, and she presented me with a large tumbler at least three fingers full of bourbon. Warm bourbon. I know I didn't ask for it ON the rocks, but I figured rocks might have been part of its making (and shaking). "I lied," I said, "I'll take it on the rocks, it's 103 degrees out." A super dive bar this place needs to be redone ducktape to cover tares in the seats odd red lighting kinda old school btw they have red seats also too much red for my taste. This place never lets me down when I'm craving a Bloody Mary. Its an old school dive bar but when you don't feel like impressing anyone,dress very very causal and just want to chill for bit, its perfect. read more

By far the best bar in town. The food is always good, the servers always friendly, and they have an endless supply of jello shots for Monday Night Football. My only gripe is that they have no beers on draft, only in bottles. read more

This bar should be closed. They don't follow the correct way to manage a business. The waitresses are rude and always drunk or on something. If you ever go into their kitchen, you'd see how dirty and unkempt it is. Definitely a safety issue when it comes to the food they serve. This bar was pretty cool. We went on a Saturday night so there was a live band. It wasn't very crowded but I'm assuming it was because it happened to be the weekend before thanksgiving. It has a really chill atmosphere, cool people who were nice and easy to talk to, and the drinks were good! I would definitely go back to this place again and bring friends. I came to Maxdons to have a beer with my friends, and a bartender named Shannon refused service to one of my friends. Didn't know why until another bartender told us that she refused him service because of rumors about him. This is really outrageous since we had money to spend on drinks. Shady way to run an establishment. I wonder if the owner knows what these bartenders do when he's not there. Bad service bad review! read more

If you ever want to get hepatitis, this is the place to go. Weird people are there. It stinks like smoke. Uncomfortable seating. Price is good but that's because the place needs to be in order to survive. I went there once and i don't intend on going again. Service was blah. It's been 36 years since we've been here and if not for Yelp, time may have continued without another visit. My husband and I were greeted as soon as we walked in and invited to sit wherever we chose. Chantal was our server and was attentive without being annoying. We ordered drinks and dinner, only to find that she was also our chef! My husband's burger was cooked perfectly and I had the steak salad, which was cooked medium rare, just as I ordered. Salad bar was really nice and the blue cheese dressing was very good. It really does have the "Cheers" vibe, but we never felt like outsiders. We will definitely return and bring friends. read more

While this place has great prices, good food, and good drinks. None of that makes up for the really poor service we received we were here for over 3 hours and they barley ever came to check up on us. There is really no excuse for it since it wasn't busy and the place isn't very big. I would have highly recommended this place is it wasn't for the really poor service. read more

My opinion one of the better bars in Antelope valley. It's like walking into an old-time bar beautiful Red upholstered Booths. One of the best owners in town. He has owned the bar since he 70s. I don't think I had a bad drink here. Love the all female staff they are wonderful. Keep up the good work. Make sure you bring your ID. read more

Gotta update! Just stopped by to the ol' drinking hole a few weeks ago and was surprised by a few things... they don't have a minimum for credit card use anymore. Now they charge a small fee per transaction. I was disappointed to learn that they stopped serving grolsch in the awesome tall bottles, but whatcha gonna do? Maxdons is hands down the ONLY bar to go to in town. This is the bar you go to where everybody knows your name. The bartenders are all top notch, very nice and just good people! Only if you love to hear F....this, F....that all night long, enjoy food that is high priced but poor quality, and feel like you're sitting at the bar because the dining room is that close! The service was good, but the quality of the food along with the high price (steaks) will not get me to come back! Speaking of the steak. The ribeye was cooked perfectly, thanks to our waitress, but the enormous amount of seasoning, or possibly marinade to tenderize, is a big NO NO for a real steak lover. Divey little place you might not even know was there unless someone told you about it, but they have the best steaks you can find in the AV, and my personal favorite: fried pickles. Sometimes I literally just go to get fried pickles. The drinks are good, service is always up to par if Shannan, Nikki or Jeannie are there. They have live music on some nights which is fun, also, they have darts and an outdoor patio if you're there with friends who care for cigarettes. I have grown to love this little place! read more

I have been to Maxdons several times to watch Dodger games (yes, they have the Dodgers) with my son. The food has been excellent as has been the service. The atmosphere is your dark cozy local bar. I have only been for the games, so not sure about the live music or night, life. Had steaks last time and they were excellent. read more

I recently moved to Lancaster and noticed Maxdon's. I stopped in a couple days ago. Ordered a 1/3 lb. burger with lettuce, tomato and lots of onion. Also, iced tea. It was excellent. Apparently bikers go here. There's a warning at the front door that "colors" (gang or club identification) are not allowed. But the day I visited, no bikers. read more
