The bessssst steak sandwich in town. It's kind of a dark place with low light but when I am looking for good food I don't need to see who else is around. The staff is always happy and willing to help. The fish sandwich is also amazing. Each come with fries which have always been delicious but you can upgrade to a side salad for an extra $1. The nice thing is the salad is not your typical side salad but instead a walk through the salad bar that features a fresh variety of veggies and dressings. The tomatoes are cut fresh instead of packaged as most of the veggies are. The dressings are top of the line instead of generic salad bar stuff. There are lots of televisions usually showing sports and they have a juke box. I usually go for lunch and its never very busy which for me is nice. It would be even better if they started offering lunch specials. I did notice on my last visit a new Happy Hour menu so it looks like a lunch special may be in the workings. I haven't been to Maxdons in years. It has to be at least 4 soon approaching 5. Maxdons is a dive full of different kinds of people. When I was in my early 20s I used to come here to hang out with all the other punks here. It seemed like Maxdons was the place where punks could come hang out, I was new in the valley and the guys I met at the community college would come here. Hell even their jukebox is (or was, not sure now) full of a lot of old school punk rock that seems like it fits right in with the decor, very 70s-ish. I'm surprised to read that smoking isn't allowed inside anymore. I along with majority of my former friends smoked. It didn't bother me but for non smokers who are picky they will surely hate it. If you're a non smoker who is always around friends who smoke you won't mind it. I can imagine after all these years of people smoking in there that it just permeated everything inside the place. I remember thinking drinks here were reasonable, then I found out they charged more than I thought for a few mixed drinks, especially when I finally transferred out to my Uni and went out to bars in Nor Cal. The last thing I remember being at Maxdons is having the bar girl pulling out one of her tits to show my friend at the time that she had gone through with piercing her nipple. There are times I wish to relive some of those nights at Maxdons, at the time they were some of the most fun times of my life. Then I remember, some people here never grew up and got stuck living the angsty punk rock drunk life. If I'm ever in the AV I probably won't ever go again, I out grew a lot of this in the 4 years that I've stayed away. read more

Local hole in the wall dive bar, you can smoke there...the smell doesn't bother me but it will bother many non-smokers I think. Retro pleather booths add to the flair. They have a giant steak dinner that two people can split with a salad bar option which was half decent but it has been a few months since I have eaten there, other than that there is standard bar fare. Great dive bar! They cook the steaks right there on a grill in front of you - and they're so good! Salad bar is great too and the bar food is awesome as well. Drinks are good and staff is friendly enough, but doesn't hassle you. It's nice to find a dive bar to relax at where there aren't obnoxious 21-year-olds running around all over the place. read more

I just heard of this place yesterday. I love a good steak... so decided to give it a try. Steak was amazing and HUGE. Moist and Tender. Flavorful. I Got the 16oz Top Sirloin and Jalapeno mac n cheese. Excellant meal. While the atmosphere is more a BAR than a GRILL, if you want a Great steak..... give it a try. My favorite dive in the AV. Reasonable prices, long-cut fried pickles, jukebox connected to the internet. I love this place. Have been coming for over a decade. But... sometimes it's hard to get a cab from there. This is especially true around 2am. So good luck with that. read more

Went with a larger party everyone had separate bills. When we got the bills they weren't itemized and way higher than expected. One person got one long island and two beers and their bill was almost $50. For two people our bill was $140 and we only got one meal and a few drinks. I want to say "this place has an eclectic mix of people" but that's probably only true after I walk my straight-laced @$$ thru the door... most of the wait-staff and some of the customers are seriously tatt'ed and pierced... they're a good-looking, friendly crew. The place is small and reminds me of a 70's lounge being dimly lit with low lounge chairs and tables in the middle of one big room with booths on one side of the room and a bar on the other. There is also a big screen TV tuned to the big game and a patio. Service is always quick and the drinks are poured strong. Although it's been a while since I've been there on a Friday or Saturday, the couple times I was there, the place was packed with a casual crowd. I liked it. The staff were very nice and polite. They only have Stella on tap which is nice but I wish they had more options. I had the steak sandwich which was okay but friends had the wings but came out cold. After a warm up they were all good. Good French fries. Ladies were eating food at bar, service was poor cause they were too busy eating. Cook was texting and makin food at same time, touching food w screen grease hands, bartender blew her nose behind bar, did not wash hands and served drinks. The bartender/waitress had a horrible attitude this time and at previous times. We told her the drink wasn't right and she got nasty and argued with us. Terrible service and the steaks are getting worse and worse. The crappy attitude of the wait staff was the worst. great salad bar and usually good service but not this one server. What a gem of a place we were lucky to find on our trip out to Lancaster to see the Poppy reserve we found Maxdon's for lunch! This was the best steak I have ever eaten! I had the 12 oz Rib Eye and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection! My gin and tonic was made perfectly as well. Vibe was chill, there were great tunes on the jukebox. Jeannie was our cook/bartender/server she was fabulous and fun. The soup and salad bar was delicious as well. I had both a salad and broccoli cheese soup which was mmmm mmm good. We had the bacon mac and cheese as our side with dinner...I highly recommend it. Come here and have a steak as it is much better than a lot of places we have here in Las Vegas. Thank You Jeannie! I really enjoyed the bar but until last night I had a horrible experience all the girls were drunk as f*** but one in particular brunette with glasses was extremely rude and told us that she spit in our drinks and gave us terrible service she was extremely extremely drunk and could not remember our names or our drinks she should not be working intoxicated because she could not handle herself . Was referred to Maxdons from the Hotel oxford inn to get a good meal. We stopped in and was a cozy dim Bar/Restaurant. We both ordered the Steak dinners that were very good! Steaks were thick and juicy and cooked as requested! If you want a awesome tasting Steak this is the place. very friendly service Kimberly and Thuy were great! We hung out there for a few hours listening to juke box music and having drinks and chatting. Was a fun experience and seems like it would be a cool hangout for the locals. Gone twice and my only complaint is that both times we received our appetizer at the same time as our meal. Not sure if it was just bad luck twice, or that is their standard policy. It wasn't busy, but this might be a drawback of having your waitress be the bartender and cook. We have probably been to Maxdons six or seven times and it always has been absolutely perfect the steak is perfection the services 90% however tonight we brought a group of people in from work that I was trying to impress with their great steaks and the two waitresses that we're working on Wednesday tonight June 20 were the absolute worst waitresses in the United States we had eight people who got their dinner and the ninth person got his steak 20 minutes after the rest of us were done eating and it was chewy and when I asked the waitress about it she said that's how we do business here it was the absolute worst service I've ever had in my entire life and we will not return to Maxdons please do not go there. I have lived in the AV for all of 2 years : ) I moved from LA, so it was a HUGE change. Maxdons is the only bar out here that I LOVE!!! The bartenders are freakin' fabulous! I love the drinks... specially the big sticks the girls make for me... and yes, I guess I've become a regular. I don't know what just happened, but I got a $24 steak that was half fat (I understand you can't control the cuts that closely,) and my double shot of hornitos was $18. You can ask your waitress where she got her tattoos and they even have a punk night. They have live bands occasionally, yet there is no room for a stage. The salmon salad was surprisingly edible. I was told that I couldn't be served bc my license just happened to expire 12 days earlier without me noticing. I'm 28 years old! And they refused to serve me bc I forgot to renew my license?!? ... I LOVE a good dive bar. Darkness, laughter and music. I wasn't expecting much from their food because it's small place but I was totally wrong. Maxdon's fried pickles are the BEST! Way juicer and less salty than BWW's fried pickles. They can also make a pizza however you like it! I ordered one with just cheese and jalapenos and our waitress was happy to make it happen.
