We've been coming here for years I loved the food and ambience. The bartenders knew how to make just about any drink you wanted. But in last month, they can't make a decent drink. They have problems making simple drinks that taste great. If you love your steak medium rare or medium you are out of luck. If you love it raw or well done this is the place for you. It breaks my heart that I need to find a new place to drink and place to have a great steak. Racist place to go eat at, guy claimed to be the owner and yelled at a homeless man sitting outside no bothering anyone just asking for money in the parking lot, I was dining and eating and hear everything he said to him and told him to go across the street to a Mexican restaurant where they said he'll fit in better hence the homeless man being Hispanic. Came here because the steaks were reccomended, got the ribeye. The salad bar was nice, the soup (broccoli cheddar) was okay, it might have been canned. I was dissapointed by the steak, i asked for medium rare but it was pretty much blue rare, some gristle and hard to chew through. Meh, I don't like how when I come here with my friends, no one gets carded, but when I come here with my family, suddenly "we card everyone hun". Had to walk out twice now with the family because someone figured why tf would I need ID I look 100, which is normal, but not here. Unless you come in with some regulars. Don't know how to make any drink beyond pouring a beer or mixing soda and liquor. Service very unfriendly here, sort of a "I don't recognize you so I don't give a shit about you" vibe, every time. When I come with my friends who are regulars, we get better service, when I come with my family or friends that aren't regular, it's like they don't want you to be there. They used to make a much better steak, it seems they season the crap out of it now and overcook and just don't seem to care. That's the #1 thing I think is the problem, Noone seems to care about anything, very apathetic towards life. Did the owner die or something? Is the staff just been grieving or something for the last year and half? I don't get it, but that is the vibe here, like everyone just left a funeral. When I requested the check, I watched my waitress walk out back with some guy. 25 minutes later, she returns and gives me my check. Due to the wait, and overall poor service, I tip $0. Now here's where it gets good... I check my bank statement, and those frauds charged me $10 extra dollars. I called them to question why I got charged $10 on top of my bill, and they said my '0' in the tip section of my bill looked like '10,' which was impossible considering I didn't write '0.' I just lined through it. I told them I was coming in to get a copy of a receipt, and when I arrived I was met by a suddenly very friendly manager who promptly gave me $10. Hmmmm. My first time here, and I was disappointed. They seem careless and don't live up to their reputation. I ordered a Gibson, but the bar didn't have any onions. I ordered a small ribeye steak - medium rare charred. It came out medium-rare, but no attempt to char it at all. Maybe the kitchen doesn't have a hot enough broiler. I ordered garlic mashed potatoes, since they don't offer baked. it came out without any butter, so I asked for butter, and the waitress forgot to bring it. I sat out on the covered patio, but regretted it, since the tables had ashtrays full of stale cigarette butts, and the floor was dirty. I was early on a Saturday night before very many people were there, so they should have been well prepared. The salad and steak and Martini tasted OK, but the other items were downers. Decided to go and get dinner as a family. We've come previously (with my guide dog/service animal) and had no problems. Today came with my infant and guide dog and as we were getting to a table a waitress stopped us. Told my mother that we couldn't be in there with my baby or my guide dog, that it wasn't allowed. We left (not wanting to make a scene) but I feel horrible about it. I kinda understand not having my baby there (any other location with a bar is fine with him thus far) but I am upset about the guide dog bit. I have had here there previously and no matter what there was no reason to refuse service to us as she is well groomed and was perfectly under control. She actually was more focused on guiding me as the place is really dark and hard for me to see anything. my family is talking about not returning as this same waitress has given poor service in the past as well. HORRIBLE SERVICE/EXPERIENCE: Came with my best friend to test the slogan pasted outside their restaurant: "The best steaks in town!" I ordered a steak (medium) and my friend also got a steak (medium rare). We waited for our food patiently. The steaks didn't arrive at our table until 30 minutes later, which was no problem; however, the steaks were completely cooked, actually burnt. The waitress even had the audacity to say "Who ordered the medium?" while holding the charred piece of meat. After immediately seeing the steaks, we sent them back. We waited another 30 minutes and still no steaks. We were starting to get frustrated because they were serving the only other 3 people in there, but never made our steaks. Especially since the steaks shouldn't have taken over 30 minutes to cook. We finally asked the waitress why our food hadn't been delivered and they waitress yelled from our table to another woman working in the kitchen and said "Are those steaks done yet?" clearly trying to tell her to start making them because they had forgotten. We realized that it was taking way too long and decided to leave. As we were leaving, the waitress got all upset with us because we were leaving. We told them we were leaving because the steaks were taking way too long. The waitress literally said, and I quote, "Well it takes more than 5 minutes to cook from fresh." This place has had its moments and definitely has a horrid past that it clearly tries to hide but if you've been around for some time you know life's caught up with it. The food was good. Steak was tasty. Service needs to improve. I made a "reservation" and gave my number, told i would be called and minutes passed, i was never called. (Wasnt even busy) I go to check on my table and they tell me they called me and when i said i didnt recieve a call i was given attitude lol. "Ok well- your table is ready you can go walk to it" so we seat ourselves. My dates order was taken, but i had to tell her mine before she walked away. Cocktails were good. Passive aggressive the whole time. After we ate we sat there for 30 mins waiting for her to come back, we just decided to get up and ask for the check ourselves. Three stars is as high as I'll go for this unique bar/restaurant/dive. It is quite an anomaly, having the kitchen out in the open and seeing steaks grill away to meaty happiness. The salad bar is generic, but satisfying. The prices...well, okay, for beers at happy our the prices are great. On the food, notsomuch. I think our steaks were something like $25 each and they really weren't worth all of those pennies. This is a review for their food. I must say, I am super impressed!! I came here with my coworkers, not expecting much for a dive bar. I was super wrong! The servers are very friendly. We were greeted really quick and bar service is very fast. The menu is actually quite impressive. Besides steaks, they have other stuff like seared ahi tuna and swordfish. All of my co-workers got the rib eyes, and I got the swordfish with chipotle sauce. For under $20, it comes with a soup & salad bar, and choice of a side dish, as well as garlic bread!! The salad bar was stocked, fresh and clean. I would just recommend labels because I wasn't sure what dressing I was putting on my salad, and I wasn't sure what kind of soup the creamy stuff was (although it smelled deelish!) The most impressive part of this dining experience is that the waitresses COOK the food! No really!! That is awesome. I saw them flipping steaks in between taking beer orders. I am not much of a steak person, but had a bite of it, and I must say, it was on point. My swordfish was deelish. Yes, this place is kind of in a time warp, but that's knd of what makes it so cool. This place is a diamond in the rough. From the outside it didn't look like much, but after stepping inside it was a real treat. My friend and I walked into this dive pretty early on a wednsday nite and thought we had taken a hot tub time machine back to the 70's. Dark hard wood, red leather booths, great music form the jukebox and a super friendly staff make this place great. It was pretty dead when we got there (7:30 ish) but by the time we left it had a decent crowd (10:30). They have multiple TV's playing the games on one wall and an indoor grill where they grill up a mean old rib eye which would make any meat lover tear. The jukebox was connected to the internet so you could find pretty much any song, and it was constantly playing some great songs. I ordered the rib eye dinner which came with an all you can eat salad bar, rib eye, couple slices of garlic toast and steamed eggies. Th server threw a huge thick slice of meat on te indoor grill and cooked it perfection, not usually a fan of steamed veggies, the veggies were tasty and not bland nor soggy. Cheese toast was excellent and would go great with some pasta. My friend ordered their pineapple burger which came with a huge slice of pineapple and lots of fries. For the price, both meals were well worth it and if I am ever in this middle of nowhere town I will definitely be back! read more

What a great experience. When I walked in I believe I was teleported to a bar that Jack, Chrissy and Janet would have set up Larry, dark, cozy. Had there been more light I would have expected to see Jim Rockford on a corner booth meeting a client. I was relieved to see the sign "No one under 21 allowed". Even if the food hadn't been so good, it would still have been worth every penny to not a bunch of kids carrying on as they do at pretty much any restaurant nowadays. Salad bar was complete and clean with no superfluous items. The steaks were as good, perhaps better, than any place where one would go for a steak. Garlic mashed potatoes were remarkably good as were the fries-steak fries; no coatings, no seasonings, just...fries. We were recommended this place by Eddie at Hampton Inn for a "great steak" and we were not disappointed. Don't let the rustic dive bar appearance fool you. The steaks are truly excellent, cooked perfectly and served by fabulous staff. Our waiter was Allie and she was very attentive even though she was taking care of a large Christmas party next to us. Had dinner here with my spouse on a Saturday after watching a show at the LPAC. I ordered the $26 ribeye steaks and she ordered the tenderloin. The lady that took our order is the same lady who cook &prepared our steaks. It took over Half hour to cook our steaks but that's not the worst part. The lady went out back to the kitchen brought out a Tupperware w/our garlic mashed potatoes in it & microwave it right there next to the grill she also took out a mix vegetable with the ziploc bag in it and throw it in microwave to heat it up and plate it. Not sure if she ever wash her hands coz she also handled our garlic bread w/her bare hands while dealing w/pen and pads and taking other people's order and prepping food at the same time. This place is awesome. Total dive bar with decent food, good drinks and hot bartenders. The crowd varies depending on the night you go. They do allow smoking inside so if you don't want to smell like smoke make sure to get there early and leave before 9 pm. They make good, stiff drinks and they sell tall boys (22 ounce cans) of and PBR. Nothing on tap but good beer selection. Definitely worth checking out if your in the Antelope Valley read more

How have I not written about Maxdon's yet? One of my favorite bars ever. The vibe is so chill. The drinks are reasonably priced and usually pretty strong. Their food is surprisingly great! Just plain old good bar food. My favorite are the fried pickles! The girls who bar tend are all friendly and helpful. :) We usually go here to get a bloody mary.
