Avo Playhouse is a repurposed movie theatre in Vista...a very cool revitalized area with quite a few restaurants and at least 3 breweries within just a couple blocks. We saw the Beatles tribute band "Ticket to Ride". Our tickets were reasonably priced and the venue is small enough (seating for under 400) that there really aren't any bad seats. As a bonus, I was really happy that the bathrooms were large and clean. Only real disappointment was that there were no refreshments. It would be nice to have something simple, maybe just water, coffee, and tea? Definitely worth going back! BTW there's lots of free parking nearby.

I am so glad to see that they have their own theater now so they can do more for our community. In the beginning when my girls wanted to participate in something such as this and on this level, as a father I was very worried because you hear horror stories about crazy people or creepers in this feild but over years the family that runs this program has always been professionals who want to teach and share their talents with the next generation. Over the years I have witnessed the owners go out of their way to offer a helping hand to young people trying to get a start in this business... They have a little mini concessions with extremely reasonable prices and a great selection of sodas, chips, candy, and some yummy baked goodies. Walking into the theater you quickly see that there's not a bad seat in the house. These are the most comfortable cushion seats that can recline a bit and there are drink holders for the ice cold drinks from the concessions. This theater is small and intimate, but the show is big! Beautiful voices, beautiful music played live by a band, great lighting, and you feel every emotion these phenomenal actors portray. There's a selection of restaurants in the immediate area for a bite to eat before this amazing show. So glad to have found this gem and will definitely be back to see their future performances!

They also have a cool check-in counter with a few light snacks and canned drinks. I got some Oreos and a sparkling water! The ladies at the wine and concession booths were wonderful! THE BAD: Lots of mosquitoes, as I write this I'm dealing with the aftermath of becoming their late night snack. Bring bug spray if you want to enjoy! We saw Hamlet and cannot wait until next season's King Lear. Since we're at a local Temecula winery, they serve both food and of course, locally produced wine for sale. The seats are comfortable. I have been attending Sohaila's belly dance classes on and off for the past few years. First time I…read moremet her I did not know she was a belly dancer but I was mesmerized by her beauty, she reminded me so much Brooke Shields. That was in Julian, I was having lunch with my lovely ex husband, at least 10 years ago, and she was there shiny and all smiles. All the heads turned to her, and same did mine, like the girl in The Exorcist...who is this glam woman and what is she doing in this country town? It happens that she was recording some promo for the town and she handed some business cards about her belly dancing classes. And then is how I got hooked up! I have taken several of her classes through the Poway adult community education (you can get those brochures at the public libraries or at home if you live in the area) and absolutely loved every single hour spent perfecting my shaking. And as Shakira sings, hips don't lie! Anybody can benefit from her classes, both if you are into learning the techniques per se or if you want to gain some body self-awareness and confidence. My body posture improved a lot and I also made friends in each of those classes as they tend to be big in number of attendees and is always fun. If you are not into online shopping for goodies you can use at the class (like those hip scarves with coins), you can also get them from Sohaila, as she usually travels to Egypt once or twice a year and bring belly dance paraphernalia to sell. Prices are reasonable and the prices for the belly dance via community classes are super affordable.

My review is not for her classes since its a little far for me to travel for classes, although her studio is lovely and looks like a great place to take belly dancing. This review is about her belly dancing supplies. She has really beautiful coin skirts and scarves for belly dancers. You can make an appointment and go through the racks of really pretty dancing gear. Very relaxing too, it felt like visiting your cool belly dancer sisters big ass closet of belly dance wear, not like a store at all. Me and my friend were there for a few hours and there was no pressure to buy or be on our way. Very fun and if you want to belly dance a must see for your supplies.

The costumes are quite authentic made mostly by hand and designed by Linda and the community is incredible. They do a whole Hoike celebration every year and kids from ages 3 to 80 dance in different groups. I am so glad we got connected with this group. It is a group that is not competitive, The group needs to work together and build each other up; different for this day and age. At the same time the teachers challenge each individual to grow in spirit strength and skill. If you want to community for your children or yourself this would be the group to join.
