Easily the best concha I've ever had. This was fresh out of the oven, soft inside, lightly crunchy outside, melted in your melt, and overall delightful! It's places like these that keep the community alive. I just know this business is supported by locals and there are great stories to tell. The service is warm, everything is affordable I would gladly pay more, bring cash for tip! You can taste the love in their offerings. Everything I ordered was fresh out of the oven, what an experience. I've never had a fresh concha like this. The coffee was great too, they only offer regular coffee but that's all you need. The bread here at Max's is DELICIOUS! I've never had Pan Dulce this fresh and soft before, and we went there LATE in the afternoon too! They also have the BEST Flan/custard I've eaten to date, sweet and the caramel didn't taste BURNED! Device was wonderful, all my questions about their wares were answered ! They tend to have a very hard texture in other locations. For some reason Max's Baked Goods has perfected the softest concha. My favorite is the Yellow concha. I am not someone to write reviews very much but I am telling you all: finding good pan dulce around here is challenging. Back in the days we had really good panaderías around but then the big chain Mexican store we all know took over and killed the smaller panaderías. So I have to go to LA for pan dulce. Which is a mission. Listen, I refuse to buy pan dulce at northgate because it is not good at all and I'm so confused to why many love their pan. Not trying to knock them down but here to keep it real. This spot here is DELICIOUS. Their pan is always fresh. They don't make a lot of pan or have a lot of variety but once in a while they'll pop up with the little cochinito pan dulce. Or the elephant ears or the little sweet muffins called mantecadas. So it's like a surprise every time I go and I love that! I think they don't make a lot because they don't want to waste and it makes sense too because old pan dulce just isn't the same. It's a smart business move too because the customer will keep coming back for good quality pan. So I really think they want to sell fresh pan. You all ever go to NG and that pan is hard as rock? Ya, not here. And if they do have day old pan sometimes la señora will hook it up! But don't be asking for a discount! I'm just sharing my experience lol So with that don't be surprised if you show up and they're sold out. Their conchas are so good! Oh...my...gosh... so I initially came to get some fabric (across the way from here). As I was walking out, I noticed this Panaderia. I decided to try it out since I was hungry and I was heading home already. Came in and there was nothing much in there. Just one rack of conchas and a case where you have to ask to grab them. It was empty. I was the only person in there, but it was 10am so maybe there were a lot of people when they opened. The lady at the counter apologized and said since it's been slow, they haven't been stocking up. I didnt mind, what i wanted they had. The lady was super nice, we were chatting the whole time. To the point that I forgot I had to pay . Price is not too bad, I was surprised on how cheap it was. So I get home.. get a concha out and take a bite.... I.AM. IN.HEAVEN! It's so soft and delicious and flavorful! Omg where has this panaderia been?? I 100% recommend this place. It's a little unoticable, I've been to that fabric place like a dozen times and I've never seen this place until today. If you're in the area and want some good mexican bread, this is the place to get the perfect concha! I tried one other one and it was so delicious and delicate, cant wait to taste the rest! Gracias!! The best pan dulce that I've searched and then tried, so far! Grabbed a couple of their conchas, puerquitos, cuernitos and this flat, flaky, sugary one. I could feel the freshness as I lifted each bread off of the tray, and the wonderful smell as soon as you walk in to the bakery!
