This past Sunday, I attended Maya Day Club for a pool party. My friend's husband bought a section for her birthday, and there were about six of us in total. First off, I highly do not recommend getting in the pool -- it's crowded with drunk people who aren't even buying drinks. It felt dirty and far from sanitary. As for our section, my friend's husband purchased three bottles: tequila, champagne, and then another bottle when we were getting ready to leave. When they brought out the third bottle, they didn't do any kind of celebration -- no sparkler, no sign, nothing. I politely asked the bottle girl if she could bring out the "Happy Birthday" sign so we could take a picture for my friend's birthday. She responded in a snarky tone, saying, "We only do that for premium bottles." Mind you, we had already purchased three bottles by then. I asked if she could at least check since it was a birthday, but she repeated herself, even more rude this time. Then, completely unnecessarily, she said, "Do you wanna get kicked out?" I was shocked. Moments later, five security guards came over, including one overly aggressive black security guard who literally screamed at me across the section telling me I needed to leave. Another security guard tried to get the story, so I explained what happened, but after I finished, he just said, "Well, I'm gonna side with my homegirl -- the bottle girl." So what was even the point of asking? In the end, even though we had already paid for another bottle that we didn't even drink, we all decided to just leave. Overall, this place is overpriced, pretentious, and offers zero customer service. They don't seem to treat minorities the same, and act like it's some exclusive Vegas or Chicago day club -- but without any of the professionalism or quality. I wouldn't even put my toes in that pool again. To top it off, people were literally walking around the bathroom barefoot. Absolutely one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Okay the chlorine water in the pool is questionable but the ambiance and vibes at Maya Dayclub are immaculate. We booked day party tickets the morning of and check in was smooth. Lots of searching of bags at the door and metal detectors (no complaints). Once inside we found the place was crowded but were able to locate some seating near the pool. The music was good, and the crowd was fun. I didn't interact with staff very much but everyone seemed pleasant. Employees we're definitely busy, there was alot of running around on their part. We ordered a few drinks to cool off and the ice melted immediately. During our time there it was 108 degrees outside! I enjoyed the shade and big fans everywhere. Even with the extreme heat I wasn't uncomfortable. I felt really safe here despite the heavy amount of alcohol flowing all over. Security kept a good eye on the crowds, and no one seemed to get out of hand. The pool in my opinion was on the smaller side for the amount of people but still really fun. My only downside really was no lockers or safe place to store your belongings while you're in the pool. Luckily we met a group of girls there and we all took turns watching each others belongings while away. 10/10 - I plan on visiting again when I return to Scottsdale! read more

Went for a bachelorette pool party in the off season - August and had a blast. We didn't get a table but put all our stuff in a bag on the side of the pool. The music was good and there was shade available in the pool. Keep your card on your so you can get drinks at the bar. read more

I believe I got robbed by the staff. Went to MAYA nightclub this past weekend and wasn't allowed to wear my hat (despite spending $1,500+ on a table). It's a nightclub so obviously had a few drinks and ended up forgetting my hat on the way out (kept in the front with who I've learned is a bouncer called Vegas). I came back the next day first thing in the morning and they said they didn't have it..... was a $500 which really sucks. It was Chrome Hearts so very easy to spot and steal. The day club scene usually is not my thing. But I came here to check it out with a relative and drink. It was good people watching. Surprisingly there was a wide range of ages here. Everyone from your typical college coeds, your desperate housewives of Scottsdale, to your middle agers all hanging out and getting buzzed. The dj was decent and played hip hop music (old school and current hits). There was no cover the day we came here. They have pool parties during the summer. Come fall there is no pool and it's covered by turf. If you want to sit in the patio seating you gotta pay for bottles. We ordered a few bottles, and the waitress poured us all drinks and shots as requested. She often came to check on us if we needed anything. I didn't like that you can't pour drinks yourself, they put locks on the bottles. Also, if you order food, it will not count towards the minimum spend requirement. Until we were inside being served by the awesome and super cute/fabulous bartender Megan...- but then we were informed that all our stuff was thrown away. Now the club sign does say "Maya is not responsible for missing or stolen items"... however, if you guys are collecting items to throw away... why not have a counter for 24 hours each days for people to collect their stuff, make an announcement that the pool is closing, or leave the stuff their for atleast 15 minutes to be collected. He seems like a great manager.. but I think the power of his position may have gotten to his head instead of having a bit of hospitality. Visiting from California, we ended up going to Maya Dayclub. Our first night being here which was on a Friday, my friends and I decided we wanted to check this place out. For a bottle of Anejo, we were quoted $600 for the bottle. As the night went on, the party host brings out the check and to our surprise, the bill ended up being $1,200+. What was on the bill? We ordered a bottle of Anejo and Red Bull. We told the party host that the bill was incorrect and later brought out a bill that amounted to $900. From this point on, the service felt "very shady." Your promoters are quoting us on a $600 bottle but we were charged an arm and a leg. We left a "$0" tip. Why? Because the party host tried finessing us and charging us more than we were supposed to. Imagine you get charged double the amount of the original cost of the bottle. How would you feel? Let's define the word tip: "A gratuity (often called a tip) is a sum of money customarily given by a customer to certain service sector workers such as hospitality for the service they have performed, in addition to the basic price of the service." There was no hospitality as we were kicked out of the club because we didn't leave a tip. The hospitality that we received didn't even equate to the basic price of service. The only solution that the individual(in the picture) had was to take a picture of my party and I, kick us out, and tell us we're never allowed back to this club. If there is a way to post a video, this post will be edited to show you all a visual of the event that occurred. The service here was terrible and the amount of disrespect we received was outrageous. For a mistake on YOUR part and the solution for you guys to just take the easy road and kick us out is crazy. I can't offer any good words for this establishment and its employees. For the last year they have been able to see recent activity on my account and have been trying to scam me into giving them more information. The very first incident of this was immediately after using my card at Maya and the scammers knew the exact amount that I spent there. Be careful using your cards here. So a caveat, before this year I had avoided ever coming to this venue based on the often negative feedback you heard about it. This year we decided to take the plunge to see Morgan Page earlier in the summer and then went to their Labor Day show with Meduza (which was the first time I've ever seen him in Arizona to my knowledge). We've never had ANY issues whatsoever with security here and always found all the staff to be professional and reasonably courteous. They put up with a lot of crap from drunk people at times and along those lines we really didn't see them act in an unprofessional way with anyone at the club both days we were there. Food is okay and associated with their sister "District" location. Being able to get a late lunch before each show was a plus. Now the not so good. There are no lockers or anyway to stash your stuff if and when you want to go in the pool and you definitely need to be there early to stake out some territory on the edge (for Meduza 2:30 PM actually ended up being too late but we were just able to sneak in by asking a couple if they minded if we squeezed in next to them). This is honestly kind of ridiculous but seems to be a general pool party problem. If you don't want to watch the show in the pool, there really is very limited room for dancing with the area near the front DJ booth honestly stupidly small. The other thing I take issue with is the drink prices. A can of 805 was $17. This is a joke considering I could probably go buy a 12 pack for that price at the grocery store. From what we could tell the best approach was to pony up the $25 for a fishbowl with an additional shot of alcohol dumped in it for the low low price of $14. This helps out with the fact that their "concoction" is defenitely on the weak side. Yes, prices in Scottsdale tend to be high, but you can drink at the Talking Stick pool parties for literally near half the price (lots of cans are in the $8 to $9 range there). In general it makes me feel like the game at Maya is to get people in the door with reasonble ticket prices (which are often available on discount deals) and then absolutely kill therm with alcohol sales. So long story short, will I come back for shows next year? Yes, probably, if it's a DJ I really want to see and this is the main way we have the opportunity to ever do so. Would I come here just because to hang out other than during their shows? A resounding: "hell no!" So in conclusion, Maya is alright, but know what you are getting yourself into before you go. And follow their beach club attire recommendations and you won't have any problems with petty security. read more

Went for the Labor Day DJ. There were signs when walking in that had specials listed for 6pm-11pm every day, as well as multiple signs for $12 kettle and lemonade or $12 don julio for Labor Day. Bartenders were not honoring these prices. Saying "the signs were wrong" felt like a major scam that over charged customers.
