Atmosphere is nothing special, but nice, not grim like a fast food joint, which is most of the competition in this restaurant deprived neighborhood. I' vegetarian, and was able to find something I really liked on the menu. One star off because I feel like I ended up paying more for my vegetarian selection than I would have if I had ordered one of the meat dishes. That isn't right. Honestly please don't go there, we came in inside and everything was extremely like extremely dirty, they guy who was I guess the waitresses was extremely rude, we came in and he didn't say anything just look at us bad and we asked him if we can take a seat or if we should order and he being rude told us seat where you want but all the tables where dirty. On the outside, Maya was part of a revitalization effort led by LA Mas, and sponsored by City Councilman, Joe Buscaino. The mural on the southern wall is by a local artist, Ms. Yellow, reminding us all of our cultural and traditional roots. I know that every time I frequent Maya, I will get a warm welcome by the waitresses that have been there for years! Always my favorite place for a wet carnitas burrito. We discovered this place in high school and have been coming back for years. The green sauce is perfectly spiced and tangy and the crispy carnitas just melts in your mouth.
