    Tlayuda with steak

Loved this spot! The food here was so fresh and flavorful. My highlights are the enchilada de mole and the guac. The tuna tartare was a little on the salty side, but paired well with the chips that comes with it. They have happy hour deals that we wanted to try, but you do have to sit at the bar for those. It's a cute spot to hang out with friends or for a date night. Our server was also very lovely and knowledgable. Would def come back, especially for the mole!

It was definitely a great experience, the food was delicious, very savory and well made! The service was really fast and the staff kept on checking on us and that made us feel great about the experience! The ambiance is nice, it has decorated walls and some different signs where you can take a group pic!

I came to Mayahuel a few months ago for dinner and am just getting around to sharing how amazing the food was. I ordered the camarones zarandeados (prawns with guajillo butter and mole oil), and wow -- the mole oil brought such a rich, unexpected depth. I'd never had mole on seafood before, and it was flavorful and indulgent in the best way. I paired it with the tlayuda for a full meal. You can order it with protein on top, but I had it plain with black beans, Oaxaca cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. While it wasn't as show-stopping as the shrimp, it was still delicious -- felt like an open-faced, crispy Mexican pizza with a fresh salad on top. My friend ordered the carnitas tacos which she said were very good and Juicy. The restaurant itself was fairly quiet on a Sunday, and the service was attentive. Prices felt fair for the quality. Mayahuel is easily one of my new favorite Latin restaurants -- definitely high on the list for Mexican in NYC. It's a little underrated, so put it on your radar.

Another great brunch experience at Mayahuel. The food and ambiance, are definitely something to talk about. The steak was cooked to perfection, their home fries are the best in town, and the drinks were flowing and strong. The downgrade on 1 star is for the service given today. My party and I waited a little over 30 minutes, before we were acknowledged. We were seated by the waitress and left to wait . Besides that it was wonderful.

Last night, we went to this Bar/Restaurant. The inside was cozy yet spacious, and the ambiance instantly transported me to Mexico. We were there for a cocktail-making event -- and it was an absolute blast! The host nailed everything, from the setup to sharing the history behind the mixtures, gin, mezcal, and even the types of glasses to use. Learning about the anatomy of mixology was fascinating. We enjoyed some delicious food, met new people, and picked up a few new skills along the way. Honestly, what more could I ask for before a weekend shenanigan?

The restaurant is physically beautiful and the servers were nice, but I was slightly disappointed in the food. The mole in the "pollo con mole negro," for example, was a bit generic -- not as rich, complex and flavorful as mole negro should be. The chicken was not cooked in the sauce -- just plunked on top of a small puddle. On the other hand, the gorditas, shrimp aguachile and chiles en nogado were very good.

We were hanging around Astoria exploring and we stumbled on this place through my quick (but thorough) research on yelp I decided on Mayahuel. I love when I go on a whim and it works out in my favor. First impression walking in is that they really thought out the design. the finishes are so well done and beautiful. the restaurant wasnt overly crowded but had a few tables. One of pet peeves is when a restaurant has space and sits you right on top of another table. This was not the case here. They understood the assignment and sat us on a nice corner with a great view for people watching. We ordered queso fundido con chorizo, carne asada tacos and chorizo octopus tacos. I was so impressed with the food. They did a great job with presentation, service, and cookery. When I am in the area I will definitely come back. P.S. They surely make a good margarita!

Wow every dish was amazing. Blown away. Every ingredient was fresh. Every bite told a story. Light and layered. Every spot on my tongue touched sweet, sour, salty, tart, and earthy. The tortillas had great texture abd flavor. The lemon drop was great. The violet hour drinks to die for. The salsa Macha here was nutty and flavorful and not spicy, just perfect spice. The thyuda was the best. So many flavors. The juxtaposition with parm, lettuce, cheese and beans. Yes. The aquaciles insane delicious. Great sauce. Nice hint of heat. The seafood toastsdo perfect. The corn esquite best i ever had. The chicken mole yummy. Perfect chicken and flavor. The steak tacos outrageous. The housenade gansito im still craving. Exceptional staff and beautiful decor. Ivan and uylisus thank you.

We had such a great time last night! The food was a surprise with its elevated simple but complex flavors. We ordered several dishes to share but honestly my favorite was the tuna tartare served with the silkiest avocado mango puree and lightly fried sweet potato chips. Highly recommend! They have happy hour which we didn't even realize till we received the bill. The drinks were really nice, you have plenty of options from the traditional to more swanky type. The staff was so friendly and our server was very attentive. It was our friend's bday and they sang and treated her to dessert. The restaurant is pretty spacious and has three different areas to sit in. It's great for large parties, they easily can slide tables together. I'm definitely going back for the tuna tartare appetizer and excited to try other dishes.

I've been wanting to try Mayahuel for a while. The cocktails and vibe were great. I wasn't a fan of the chips but they weren't horrible. The fish tacos were seasoned well. Will def go back.

We decided to come check these guys out for brunch. When we arrived we were seated right away drinks, we had the unlimited option for Margaritas , also tried the White Sangria drinks were good service was a bit slow I don't think they had enough people working drinks took some time to arrive by the time they came we needed refills. On the Food I had the Enchiladas Suiza they were really good, good salsa verde.. Hubby had the Breakfast Burrito also good & also tried the Steak & eggs which I recall is a small added charge , steak was very tasty. For dessert we tried the Flan & Tres leches they were both very good. Nice looking space, good music playing, it has a fun vibe & decor, service could be better since the wait times were a bit long , decent prices overall good food & drinks we enjoyed our brunch.

What an awesome hidden gem, located at the end of a rather quiet block in Astoria! I found them on Yelp and after looking at their recent reviews and photos, dinner plans were set. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the absolutely gorgeous ambiance. I love how the space just seems to keep unfolding as you walk in. The dining room in the back is pretty massive yet feels quant at the same time. As for food, I got the Tlayuda (Crispy Corn Tortilla, Black Bean Puree Oaxaca Cheese, Salsa Morita), Quesadilla (Corn Tortilla, Oaxaca Cheese, Salsa Molcajete, Guiso Of The day) and the Baja Fish Style Beer Battered Tempura (Salsa Morita, Cabbage, Spicy Mayo, Pico De Gallo). While they were all delicious, my favorite was the fish tacos. I could legit eat 6 of those in a row but a las, I devoured the three I ordered. Would I come here again? In a heartbeat! It was a Monday night so it was rather quiet, though I imagine it's a pretty lively setting on a Friday or Saturday evening.

It ended up being the best decision we made all night. Emily, our server, was nice, attentive, and took great care of us. The food was just as fresh and delicious as at the taco stand at the QNM. The purple corn tortillas were incredible, the chicken was hot, juicy, and flavorful, the steak was delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the mushroom taco. The restaurant has a fun, authentic Mexican vibe with colorful décor, a great playlist that really adds to the atmosphere, and it's honestly a cute spot if you want to snap a few photos. Needless to say, it did not work & rubbery cheese in soup is not it. I thought that maybe the soup from this place was a one off so I also ordered a couple tamales from here on a separate occasion as well. Unfortunately it was not a one off as the tamales were super dry & almost inedible because of that. I won't be returning back. Tamales super dry
