We came during lunch to order chopped chicken and tri tip sandwich's. My husband said the tri tip had too much sauce and he'll just ask for it on the side next time, but still enjoyed it. The chopped chicken was nice and hot. The wait for food wasn't too bad, maybe 20 minutes and the staff was pleasant.

Wait is a bit long because there's only 1 cook. But the tri tip sandwich is sooo good. Meat is very tender. Just the right amount of bbq or whatever sauce they use, and onions were the perfect finish. Staff is super friendly and you can tell they love what they do. The cheesesteak was okay! I think it needed a little more flavor. It gets a bit busy during lunch.

I am torn about whether to write this review because I do not want to have to share this little gem in Hayward. The store and the cases are extremely clean. The cases are filled with beautiful looking meat from chicken to beef to lamb and more. The owner, Yaya, was so friendly and nice. He spent time explaining the types of meat that they offer. They had a chef cooking hamburgers and bacon hot links outside. After we bought lamb and steak we had to try the bacon wrapped hot links. They were delicious. I bought banana pudding for dessert. It was good too. When we cooked the steak and lamb chops they were absolutely delicious. I called my neighbors to tell them about this place. I would give this place 10 stars if I could!

This is supposed to be a ribeye steak

I've been supporting this business for over a year now. My main reasons for returning were the meat quality and customer service. I dont understand what happened this past Sunday, but I am thoroughly disappointed. I arrived in the afternoon and there was a free bbq and cooked meat giveaway. What a very nice and generous offer to the community and customers. I stood in line for about 30min waiting to purchase some fresh meat. When my turn came, I asked the butcher for chicken wings (all flats) which is not allowed btw, but he gave me a generous amount of flats nonetheless. Then I asked for bone-in-ribeye from the farm. I wasn't allowed nor asked which steaks I wanted. I also chose a few lamb chops and was not offered the option of choosing what I wanted. Turns out the 2 steaks that were chosen for me still had the fat cap on the side amd to my surprise, is very tough. I just prepared one of the steaks and can barely cut into it because its a tough cut of meat. And there is barely a bone on both pieces of the ribeyes. Again what was chosen for me is not what I would have chosen for myself and my family. I usually always speak very highly of Mayar, but today I am not happy. I spent over $80 for my purchase. I could have just went to a 5 star steak house for that price. While I am dissatisfied, I will give them another chance to see if things improve. I have spent good money here and am usually very happy. I would definitely recommend Mayar, but if you go based off of this review, make sure the butcher allows you to choose your own cuts of steak/s at least when that price is over $26 per lb. I dont think these steaks are ribeye as a matter of fact but I am stuck with them now unfortunately. I hope the lamb and chicken are better.

Great, clean, friendly newer butcher spot in Hayward! The place is so organized with so many options and unique pieces and cuts! Price is VERY reasonable for fresh meat! They also have packages and deals! Got prime rib for New Years and it was so fresh and pretty lean for prime rib! The bone in chicken was great too! Can't wait to go back and try other cuts! I have my eye on some beef ribs!!! Try and support this great local spot!!!

    Ready to eat

Today we visited Mayar's for the first time and the experience was memorable. We chose a whole chicken which the butcher cut it as spatchcock style that was superb. Grilled it golden brown and it turned out amazing. We also selected a tomahawk steak that was absolutely the best steak we ever cooked in our Traeger. Topped with some homemade rosemary and garlic blended butter. Absolutely delicious and we have now raised the bar for flavor and balance in the plated steak. Outstanding to have fresh never frozen tomahawk steak. Best I've ever have eaten.

A gem hidden in the industrial area of Hayward! I bought Chuck roast beef. I told the guy I will make curry with it and he cut it into perfect small pieces and even removed a lot of the fat. While I waited, I ordered Philly cheese steak sandwich they were grilling outside of the store and it was hella good! Definitely coming back to this place to get meat again!

$12 for a smash burger and it was super small. You could barely even taste the meat because there was so little of it. Definitely not worth the price--I expected much better value.

Grabbed a cheesesteak from the outdoor food tent, it was flavorful and cheesy! I would definitely come back again.

Best meat I ever had! The only thing that can compare is if I went out and slaughter and blessed the cow myself. Clean, neat, respectful market. The is exceptional

I don't see how anyone could rate this place poorly. They excel in what they do, and quality is there to prove it. I came to Mayar's Meat Market back in August, and it was truly an experience. I drove about 30 minutes, and had to drive another hour to get to my destination. The worker there, Sergio was very professional and answered every question I had. He even added ice packs for the lengthy drive I had to do afterwards. The Ribeye, and Picanha that I bought from here was truly phenomenal. They have a lot of cuts of meat, and if you don't know what you want you can always call and ask. They'll make it happen. I would give this place a 6 star if I could. Thank you to the business owners, the butchers and the workers.

[From the web] "A Denver steak, also known as Zabuton, is a relatively new, well-marbled, and tender cut of beef from the chuck primal section under the shoulder blade. It comes from the serratus ventralis muscle and is prized for its rich flavor and buttery texture, similar to a ribeye, despite being from a traditionally tougher area of the cow. It is best cooked using high-heat searing methods to fully develop its flavor and tenderize it. After cooking it, it wasn't as tender as we had hoped. He said you need to braise it. D'oh! And after gazing at their product listing one day, I can kinda tell that they probably service a lot of ethnic shops like taquerias and small brick n mortars. You actually don't see or interact with any of their products directly. Upon opening their public door, there's a small office with a window. There's a current product sheet there with current pricing. You have to go by this and not with what you got in the past, or internet postings, as this sheet will be their current inventory and pricing. And pricing these days can vary greatly from week to week as well as supply. There's also a hanging bulletin board that has a lot of weekly specials. Once you've found something, you just place the order with the nice receptionist. She'll draw up a receipt and take your payment. CASH ONLY (for some reason). You then have to go outside where your car is and wait for a warehouse employee to bring it out to you. They are quick, like I've never had to wait more than 3 minutes. I've tried this place like 3 times now since I work nearby and just hit this up on my way home. Here are some finds: *In a very industrial zone of San Leandro. Close to the Costco but much deeper in industrial streets. Can't see it from a main road. Gotta go under an overpass then parallel a railroad track. Now that I know where it is at, it's a breeze. But first time looking it was a bit of a challenge. *All meats I've gotten thus far are frozen solid. But nicely frozen where you won't have to break anything separating things. Lots of things are well sealed in tight cryovac. So will have to spend time defrosting goods, can't go home and start cooking. But I just put whatever I'm planning on cooking in the fridge for a good day and just cook it the next day or so. And in what meats I've gotten even though frozen at one point is still of really good quality once defrosted. *Beef seems somewhat 'Choice grade' but I haven't seen any labeling to say so. Steaks I've tried are meatier and chewier than most grocery stores in my area, but in a good way. Feels more natural and not as 'water-y'. I've only tried 1 lb Rib Eye Steaks and thin cut NY strips so far, and have been more than pleased. Also tried some lamb shoulder chops and they too made for good dishes. *Pricing less than retail grocery stores unless there is mass grocery sale. Competive with Costco beef pricing but here you'll have to defrost something slowly. But you won't have to go through the Costco grind of getting aggravated in the parking lot, weaving through hundreds of people and waiting in life-sucking lines. I mean I'll still go to Costco, but if I can go to Costco less, then I've just freed up a big part of my personal time. *If I'm ever gonna feed a big group, big bbq, holiday party, big potluck etc., this will be a legit option. You can get cases of stuff here, whole ribeyes and briskets, cases of chicken/pork/lamb. They even have bacon, sausage and common cheeses on wholesale. And a big draw here is they have a ton of ethnic meats, which is why I'm sure they deal with a lot ethnic mom n pops. Tripe, suadero, beef cheeks, pork necks, livers all here. Probably won't find that stuff at Costco. *Warehouse hours, open like super early like 6-7 am and close by noon. Works for my hours but not for many others. Good fit for me, so they'll become a resource for me.
