Amazing!!! I moved here from California 2 years ago and I've had the hardest time finding really good authentic Indian food... this place was incredible. Went for the second time yesterday to order takeout. The staff (I assume it's a family) were just so warm and welcoming. I got some tandoori chicken, samosas, garlic naan, and rice. I got the tandoori chicken the first time I tried them out and that's what brought me back to try it again this time. It did not disappoint. It's so tender and flavorful with the perfect little heat - incredibly delicious. I might have an addiction I have to feed every week now. My girlfriend loved the samosas, as well. Always looking for a new Indian restaurant to check out and hopefully add to my list of regular Indian spots. We went on a Friday night, restaurant had only been open for two weeks, so it was understandable that we were the only patrons. We were greeted with smiles, warmth, and genuine hospitality. I had the Samosa to start, which was very good, dough was crispy yet not hard and flaky with good flavor. The vegetable filling was the perfect spice and texture. I would say these were in the top three Valley samosas I have on my list l. I had the yellow lentils and asked if they would fry some onions to put on top. "No problem I will ask the chef". Chef agreed, and the onions were a delightful addition to the Dahl. We also had the chicken tikka masala which was mild and next time we will order medium needed a little bit more heat for our taste. Naan was good, Roti was average, would like to try the Bhatura next time. And there will be a next time! The chef, his wife and son were all working and all took the time to come out and greet us and have a chat. Very kind family who can also cook and run a clean, vibrant establishment. read more

Best indian food in north Phoenix i highly recommend visiting thia place at least once.

The food is some of the best Indian food I've had in the valley. The chicken tikki, naan, and mango and mint chutneys were delicious. The detail in the tikki sauce was rich and flavorful. The basic curry we had was filled with chunks of tender, flavorful lamb (a couple dollars more but well worth it for the quality of meat.. not all lamb is created equal). The sauce itself was good, but I'm anxious to try some of the other varieties as well. I will be back! read more

The absolute best Indian food I've had in Phoenix so far. The chana masala, aloo gobi, and biryani were all excellent. The vegetable biryani was so packed with veggies it was delighful and had just a touch of heat which was lovely. The chana masala was creamy with real depth. And the aloo gobi was also well layered. These are family recipes and they are warm and comforting. And the portions are generous (we will be having leftovers for the next few days). And although we did takeout, the food was prepared quickly with no hitches (solid service). My British spouse is very exacting about Indian food and Maya's impressed them. What an experience! Two big reasons why I felt compelled to write this review. The first obviously being how flavorful the food was. I had Chicken Makhni w/ rice and a Butter Naan. This was different and much better than the typical "butter chicken" you get from your usual western Indian restaurants because you're cooking the chicken in a tomato-like curry until the oil separates which makes the meat more tender. I felt like the dish was prepared very well here. The second, customer service! I was greeted by the friendliest family staff I have ever met with the brightest smiles. I was out running errands and found this place by accident. The paneer tikka masala was pure comfort food with chewy hot garlic naan to soke up the perfectly spiced gravy. A last minute decision on a Sunday night sent us to Maya's Kitchen. Located in a strip mall across from the bowling alley, the restaurant interior certainly wasn't fancy. It soon became obvious that all the effort in this family-owned establishment has gone into the food and service and boy, did they succeed. This tiny gem only has about 7 or 8 tables and has yet to have its grand opening. While we were the first to arrive that evening, the place filled quickly and the take-out orders were numerous. We were greeted warmly by Gohar (a son who was also our very efficient and helpful waiter) and, as usual for the first time in any Indian restaurant, I ordered my benchmark dish, Chicken Korma. It was superb!!! The chicken was cooked in a creamy yogurt based curry sauce. Best of all, my vision of the spice level was the same as the chef's. (I'm really a wimp when it comes to heat and 2-3 is what I prefer). My son-in-law ordered the same (but with more heat) and he, too, was happy. Then I tasted my husband's Chicken Tikka Masala. This is usually not a favorite since many times the sauce reminds me of canned tomato soup, but this was actually divine. There was a slight smoky taste that absolutely enhanced the dish. Gohar stated this was due to the chicken being cooked in the clay oven. In any case, this was suddenly the table favorite and what we would all order on our next visit. This place feels like family -dad and mom cooking in the kitchen, welcoming staff, fairly noisy and even the tables that will never rest evenly on the Saltillo tiles add to the experience. (And, the bathroom was clean. I always check!) We cannot wait to go back. read more

The best Indian food in the Valley. I went with two friends, and we each had a different vegetarian entree. Each one was delicious. I had dal makhani - hard to find in our other local Indian restaurants, and even harder to find properly cooked. This was perfectly cooked and spiced. Ditto for the sag paneer and the paneer tikka masala. We also tried the 3 desserts. The halwa was the real thing (made from shredded carrots, not semolina pudding) and the gulab jamun was light and fresh, as though it had been recently made. I would have liked more of the kheer, but it got eaten before I could have more than a bite. The chai was complimentary and there was plenty of it. This is northern Indian food, flavorful but not too spicy. Maya's is usually only open for dinner but during June and July they are open for lunch, too. I will be going back for more. read more

This place is refreshing for the restaurant scene. We had the paneer tikka masala and the chicken korma. Both were amazing. The chicken korma in particular was especially good because the chicken was moist and almost falls apart on your fork. The spice level was right on for me. I am not a fan of spicy food. The chai was good and the mango lassi was excellent. Both were not too sweet which I really appreciated. The yogurt side was also delicious and tangy. The salad could have been a bit fresher in my opinion, but the dressing was spot on. We also had an order of garlic naan which was crisp and crunchy, like it was freshly baked. Just enough fat and bits of garlic on the outside, it is great to enjoy plain or with your meal. The servers were super sweet and attentive. All in all, a great dining experience read more
