We love this sweet diner in our town. It is so fun to take our family there when they visit, and its just perfect for our little towns aesthetics! The first thing I ate was the Fried Biscuits and Apple Butter!! And it blessed my whole soul. The biscuits were fresh and hot, sprinkled with cinnamon, which was complemented perfectly by the cool apple butter. I mean it was like little fluffy balls of heaven! Then I had the buffalo chicken basil wrap! The wrap itself was infused with the basil which meshed well with the spicy kick of the buffalo sauce. The scenery was very nostalgic of The Andy Griffith Show; made up of farm stylings and wide bench like seating. They also had two gender neutral restrooms, with changing tables. The customer service was excellent. The gentleman that served us gave great recommendations, was attentive, and just overall very pleasant. I've lived in Danville for over two years and just now found out the Mayberry Cafe serves breakfast. The potatoes are the star of the Aunt Bee's breakfast. Crispy on the outside and well seasoned. It was a nice country breakfast. The coffee is on the weak side for my taste. Worth a try. Next time I'm going to have the chicken and waffles. read more

Stopped in late on Friday Night 7/19/2019 at 8.25 PM. The place was busy still most people leaving after the meal. We were greeted and seated quickly. Drinks provided we had sweat tea it was wonderful. The rest rooms were clean and well stocked. I had Chopped steak mushroom and onions. Mac n cheese rolls all cooked to order. My wife had chicken steak cooked to order she advised it was excellent. When we left are waitress offered us a Sweat Tea to go and my wife took her up on it. It reminds me of when as a kid my family would go visit mh grandpa. He lived in a small town and we would go to his favorite diner at least once every visit. He would give me a quarter to play the jukebox. One difference, instead of a jukebox they have TVs playing Andy Griffith show. But the food has never been a disappointment. read more

I have to say, for being a local eats place in the small town of Danville I am very unimpressed with the overall quality of the food. The menu is very classic and has a lot of potentially tasty food, but what you get is very unsatisfying. The wings are all bread, no meat and the fried pickles are very soggy and flat out gross. I would highly recommend going somewhere else, because eating "local" at this joint will leave you upset and completely unsatisfied for the value and for the price. read more

We had a group of 8. The menu is HUGE with so many options, no matter your taste preferences. All the food is "country." We had the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes (real!!) and the Country Fried Steak with cole slaw. We also had mac n' cheese. The cole slaw and mac n' cheese was just OK, nothing amazing. A few people at our table tried the Blue Gill and they also said it was "okay." The ambiance is very homey, country...like Mayberry. There were TVs showing the Andy Griffith Show at a low volume. I have been dining at the Mayberrycafe for years. My absolute favorite is Aunt Bees fried chicken meal... it's perfectly seasoned and crisp to perfection. I enjoy it so much we had them cater our wedding, at the beginning of September. We had approx 220 guests and everyone attending was chatting about how good the food was.... especially the brisket (I wish I would've had a chance to taste it, but as we all know that doesn't happen when it's your wedding). I have had people reach out afterward just to find out where they could get it. They were very professional, the pricing was very reasonable and the people were lovely to work with. Had a great lunch at the Mayberry Cafe yesterday. There's really nothing I can think of to cite as bad about it, and tons I can think of to praise. We were met warmly when we came in. The waitress was immediately attentive and very courteous and eager to make sure we enjoyed the experience. The ambience definitely had the feel of grandma's house, which was just perfect for the idea of eating at Aunt Bea's. And the food was fantastic, down-home comfort food that matched that ambience perfectly. I had the Country Fried Chicken and my wife had the regular Fried Chicken meal. We both agreed it was the best fried chicken either of us had had since...well we couldn't remember when! Just like going to grandma's, the food was so good all we could think about was some amazing home-cooked meal we'd had in the bygone and rose-tinted days of youth. It was really that good! The desserts were equally good and the portions were all very generous. One last interesting surprise was that Gov. Pence was having lunch at a table just across from us. This wasn't a look alike--it was the real deal. Whatever your feelings (or mine) about him politically, it was still so fitting that we'd be sitting in this small town cafe and the governor of the state was right there across from us. Kind of a wild coincidence! I can't promise you'll have an elected official dining with you. But I definitely recommend the Mayberry Cafe if you'd like to enjoy a big Sunday dinner at grandma's house. read more

You guys!! This is the cutest place in downtown Danville! The real definition of Small Town, USA! The cafe is right across from the courthouse making it convenient for local folks or folks traveling through on highway 36. You're met right away with an old school police car parked outside and a colorful waiting area next to a yummy candy store. We ate upstairs where it's all decked out in red, white, and blue and has Andy Griffith show playing at all times. The menu is so large that if you can't find something appealing to you then I feel bad. The group I was with had a little bit of everything. You, hands down, MUST try the fried biscuits with apple butter as a starter. It's served with five biscuits so it is filling. We tried the friend chicken breast (it's boneless and super tender and oh so delicious), breaded tenderloin, and chicken fried chicken. Their macaroni and cheese is sure something to write home about. Pasta salad, mashed potatoes, onion rings, and veggies are all good choices for sides. There is seriously not a single thing I had that I didn't like. 5 stars on this cute hometown place. I'll be back for sure! Do yourself a favor and make a special trip here! read more

I was in Indiana this week to visit my dad. While exploring and returning to places I remember, we stumbled on this. Couldn't stop on Friday, but did on Saturday. We went in for a quick bite, before heading to the airport. Nice homey place that, yes could have been Aunt Bee's dining room. My son got the Philly sandwich & I got a bowl of corn chowder, (what else would you eat in corn country). The Philly was made with pot roast, yum. The corn chowder was also delish. This is my favorite place for fried chicken boneless breasts. They decorate the upstairs so nice for Christmas too. They are busy on the weekends so plan accordingly. I have never tried anything other than the fried chicken though. The mashed potatoes are good and I love the white gravy. I love the cinnamon butter too but they did not bring us any this time which was a bit disappointing. Prices are reasonable and service is great. read more

A cafe in a small, quiet Midwestern town idolizing a show about a small, quiet Southern town seems a bit like the story of Narcissus and his reflection, but who cares when they have biscuits & apple butter that are this good! The wife and I have driven by quite a few times and always remarked on how we need to stop in sometime. Well, we finally made it happen and were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked it! The inside is cute, decorated with tons of Andy Griffith Show memorabilia, signed pictures from cast members, and TVs with reruns on loop. It's surprisingly big on the inside with plenty of room in the downstairs dining room and more seating upstairs too. We ended up with a booth on the first floor and a super nice server who couldn't have been better. The wife and I started with the biscuits and apple butter (because how can you not!) and then both ended up with fish, somehow - catfish for me and the fish & chips for her. Both entrees were good and the portions were quite generous for the low prices. We left full and will half of everything we ordered left! As I was new to the area, I happened to miss the Sheriff's vehicle sitting right in front of this restaurant. This place is very cozy with all the memorabilia! Décor made me feel at home. I loved the Opie Taylor Ave. and Barney Fife Blvd. signs. TV episodes of The Andy Griffith Show were playing throughout. As for the food, I got the 14 bone-in, fried wings - 7 honey mustard and 7 BBQ - for $5.99. Awesome value but just wish they were baked instead of fried. However, they were delicious. This place is in downtown Danville. It's in a corner and there's a good number of street parking right across the cafe. When I first came here, I thought they served breakfast such as waffles and pancakes thinking it's a diner of some sort. Come to find out, it's similar to your lunch deli plus more since they serve burgers and have a salad bar. In the beginning, I didn't really know what's the affinity with a bygone show. I thought filming took place there. Apparently, the owners are fans and so you'll see a lot of memorabilia lined up in the wall. I ordered the turkey sandwich with Brie and cranberry. It was pretty good.. gave me a serious dose of thanksgiving. It comes with a lot of side options and I opted for sweet potato fries which they charge extra for. I stumbled upon this little place while browsing Yelp. Being a huge fan of The Andy Griffith Show, I knew I had to visit the Mayberry Cafe. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. I ordered the bluegill plate with a baked potato and green beans. While I was waiting, the waiter brought over some dinner rolls and cinnamon butter. I didn't wait long, maybe 7-10 minutes for my food. The bluegill was perfectly breaded and fried and it tasted amazing. The green beans were just like grandma's, with bacon and onion in them and the potato was evenly baked and so tender. I ordered peach cobbler with ice cream for dessert and it too was amazing, so fresh and crisp. The signs on the walls make the place feel like Mayberry, not to mention they have The Andy Griffith Show playing on televisions throughout the restaurant. I found myself in Indiana for business, but next time I'm here, I'm definitely eating at the Mayberry Cafe again! read more

Had take out a couple of weeks ago, ordered breakfast. My husband got the breakfast burrito and I got the aunt bea's breakfast. His came loaded with jalapeños, lots and lots of jalapeños. I'm not sure if we got the right order or not but he couldn't eat the burrito. My eggs tasted a little gritty and off, so I stopped eating them. Hour later, I paid badly for it. I was in Danville visiting family and stopped in for dinner on this past Wednesday July 8th and after being seated was not even acknowledged by a server for over 15 minutes. The hostess at least was great and got us drinks while we waited. After the server finally decided to show up, she did not apologize for the wait and seemed dismissive of my questions about the menu. They use very cheap meats and constantly change the product based on what Sysco, US Foods, or GFS prices are that month. One of the owners uses his own bare hands while making meatloaf and other dishes constantly. This place is very over priced and if it wasn't for the whole Andy Griffith gimmick, it would not get business based on its food alone. read more

Second or third time we've neen there. Always fun with good service and good food. However this time ,10/16/17, we were very disappointed. Service, although the young servers were pleasant, was poor. Appetizer didn't come until after our meals were served, the soft drink my wife ordered never came. The place wasn't that busy so there was no excuse. We were in a tucked away corner away from most of the appeal and forgotten. Let's face it your score starts on service and if you are not checking our drinks at all? We sent another waiter I reached out too just to find our waiter and remind him. Everyone's food turned out good with the exception of my soup, but I'm particular. They offered something else and I just stayed with the salad bar- lots of options and very fresh. We may go back, we've had good experiences before. read more

The atmosphere of this place is pretty cool and keeps consistent with the Mayberry theme. The place seems to be run by local teenagers, which isn't a bad thing; they are consistently efficient, helpful, and knowledgeable. I'd have to score the food as average because the food isn't overwhelmingly good or bad. Unfortunately, all the chicken dishes are overly salty and difficult to eat. Kids get a token at the end of the meal and they can choose either a prize from up front or an ice cream item. read more
