They the called us to the upstairs dinning room and sat us by the window overlooking the path down through the open space towards the Spa. The sun was setting at the tree tops. We decided to try the 4 course dinner instead of the 3 because all the dishes sounded so good we didn't want to skip any. Anthony took care of us but there were also others making sure we had everything we needed. I added pictures for each. The bread was fresh and tasty, shrimp cocktail and a whole radish with a nice dip, the salad was great with watermelon and plums, the game bird (can't remember the name) was perfectly cooked with fresh figs, the pasta starters were fantastic one with red sauce and sausage the other with a pesto sauce with pine nuts -yum. The main was a filet mignon perfectly cooked medium rare with creamy mashed potatoes and a delicious sauce. Finally the desserts were great, 1 chocolate mousse and one cheese plate. That caught my attention. I'm a great lover of historic buildings. This one has enjoyed several different lives, but the newest iteration opened in 2024. The owners have paid close attention to many details that show they value the history of the building - from the furniture in the multiple small dining rooms to the reproduction wallpaper on the walls. I loved the use of large candles in the fireplaces to replicate the light of a fire. Our meals were from the Prix Fixe Menu for $50 per person. I was delighted to see later that Lost Fox Inn advertises a Prix Fixe Menu on Thursdays for $60 per person. I enjoyed the Corn Chowder soup appetizer, which was different from any chowder I've ever eaten but very flavorful. My main course was Orecchiette, a delightful maitake and shiitake mushroom pasta dish that is flavored with lemon, pecorino Romano, rosemary, oregano and topped with breadcrumbs. Dessert was a chocolate mousse topped with pickled blackberry and mint. Really delicious. We booked an early dinner and were delighted to find that we were the only ones seated in our small dining room. As the hour progressed, more and more people filled the room, and interestingly each group took advantage of the restaurant week menu (many of the items are on the regular dinner menu). The wait staff was very attentive, checking in and answering questions about the menu items. I look forward to a return visit because the food was really outstanding.

We booked a three-night stay directly through their website (which they conveniently blame on a "third-party system" when it benefits them). On the second morning, I received an urgent call that my son had been injured back home and we needed to leave immediately. We packed up, went straight to the front desk, and explained the situation. That's when the misinformation and dishonesty started. Despite the emergency and the fact that we did not cancel, we simply checked out early, the staff refused to process a refund for the final unused night without "manager approval." The excuse? A mysterious "no cancellation policy" they suddenly hid behind -- which makes no sense because we weren't canceling the stay, we were leaving due to an emergency. Instead of showing even basic human decency, they treated us like an inconvenience. They continued to argue that because I "didn't book directly with them," they couldn't help -- even though I booked directly through the official website. They just happen to use a third-party reservation platform, and apparently that gives them an excuse to hold your money hostage. This is deceptive at best, predatory at worst. And honestly, the room wasn't even worth fighting over. The Inn itself is essentially a collection of temporary modular buildings disguised as a boutique hotel. The property is poorly maintained, the beds were uncomfortable, and the overall experience did not match the price tag -- which was $255 per night. For that rate, I expected quality, hospitality, or at least professionalism. Instead, what we got was subpar accommodations and staff who were cold, dismissive, and completely lacking compassion or customer service. Bottom line: This place cares more about squeezing every dollar from guests than providing a safe, comfortable, or humane experience. If you need flexibility, basic respect, or even the slightest sense of hospitality, look elsewhere. There are far better options in the area -- don't waste your time or money here.
