I had dinner here on a wed night. Service was great, friendly and attentive but not pushy. They have 1/2 off wine bottles on wed! So we were excited to try a usually higher priced one, it was great. My sirloin steak was cooked perfectly ( Med rare) roasted veggies were just right. My husband had the chicken piccata and he only shared 1 bite with me- it was so good. To top it all off, we shared the lemon curd cake. It was moist, delicious and enough for 2 people - now I can't wait to go back and eat there again! We went here for breakfast for the first time this morning with a BOGO coupon that we had been mailed. Ordered the eggs benedict and the biscuits and gravy. The benedict was very good, my only complaint being that the potatoes were a bit inconsistent -- some very hard and crunchy and some very soft. Almost like two different batches were mixed together (leftovers?). The biscuits and gravy was also good, the biscuits were very interesting and made from a wheat batter I believe. Tasty and different. We also ordered two coffees. My wife's coffee had lots of grounds in it, though mine was fine. The rear patio had a nice atmosphere and was a nice place to spend 45 minutes in the morning. This would have been a 4- to 5-star experience were it not for the poor service. When we arrived at 10am on a Sunday morning, the place was rather slow. There were maybe three tables indoors and at least two servers and possibly two hostesses on staff. While we were seated quickly and our server approached the table quickly with water, after our food was ordered we didn't see the server again until he brought us the bill. When the expediter brought our food, she noticed we were out of coffee and said that someone would be by to refill. It wasn't until our server came with our bill and we were nearly done eating that he finally offered us more coffee (and to his credit, noticed the grounds in my wife's cup and replaced it). No one ever came by to ask how our food was -- not once. When we paid the bill on the tablet they bring by (a nice touch), the 20% tip was pre-selected which felt like trying to hard. I would have chosen the 25% option given we used a coupon, but instead left it at 20% for the poor service. While three other couples were seated on the patio while we were there, the inside had emptied out when we left. The place was not busy, so I guess our server just couldn't be bothered. We'll do takeaway next time (or hope for a server who cares more about customer service). read more

Yesterday I had a delicious lunch at Maynard's beautiful new restaurant in Silverdale, WA. We were greeted upon arrival and the waitress was prompt in getting our beverages and taking our orders of Shrimp Tacos and a hamburger. My Shrimp were moist and seasoned nicely & the corn tortillas were delicious and not dried out. My friend said her hamburger was very good also. We both enjoyed the tasty fries. The waitress was attentive & friendly. We ordered desserts to go. Both my husband & I enjoyed the tasty coffee bread pudding at home. It was nice to eat in a beautiful setting and enjoy background music that was present but not too loud for conversations. I will be back and recommend it to others. read more

Normally I rate a restaurant on Yelp if they are superb or a stinker. This is a good review. First time visit! Received a very friendly and warm welcome by Sandy. Due to COVID there was spacing and we were allowed to pick our seating next to the fireplace. Clean environment and wonderfully modern architecture. Morgan, our server, was next. He was prompt, friendly, and helpful. He had an answer for all menu related questions including beers on tap. Throughout our visit we saw staff speaking to customers. They genuinely expressed friendliness and gratitude. At no time did it feel disingenuous. Wonderful staff. Now to the food. The macaroni and cheese. Simply the best I have ever enjoyed. I know how to make good Mac. I have been schooled. I learned a few tips eating this. They use Beacher's cheese. Wife had the cheese pizza. Delicious blend of flavors. Crisp crust. Nothing too heavy or over seasoned. Do not order the cheese pizza and add extra cheese. This thing was heavy. I ordered the ham Sammy. I thought I would never say this. There was too much meat! What? This thing was packed with pork. It was flavorful and tender. The aioli was nice and complimentary. The onion straws were crisp and the slaw balanced with the pork perfectly. Getting to the point, it was terrific. The fries. The fries were the bomb. Crisp and starchy, they married to the homemade ranch dressing like soulmates. It is four hours later and I'm still full. There was an old man that was injured and wasn't even close to the restaurant but on the other side of the parking lot and the Manager still ran to check and help! I was so impressed ! I went there to grab a couple drinks with my friends. We walked in and there were over 5 servers and a manager in view. It took 5 minutes to get an acknowledgment. A man after us got seated and had his order put in. We waited 20 minute and left. I don't know if it's because they're racist, ageist or just awful at customer service. I'm never going back. Not sure if the cooks arent tasting the soups/au jous/meats throughout service, but they need to fix it as the saltiness is in every dish across both visits. Came in for the dungeoness crab. Food was good, what there was of it. Got a plate of crab, a dish of pilaf. Turns out by accident. Waited and waited. Two people didn't get their drinks after an hour. Don't let them seat you in the back corner. Kind man in the next table gave us his. Don't know about other nights, but it was all slow and staff were light on the ground tonight. We finally got three bowls of chowder, for six people..with no spoons! Got a second plate of crab from another diner. One basket of biscuits. Been here two hours, now. I went in on a Saturday afternoon to place a to go order. I asked the employee what the sandwich and soup of the day were and was informed it was some sort of ham and cheese sandwich and given soup options. I said that sounded great and placed the order. It took 20min for my order, which was fine, but when she brought it out she THEN informed me that the sandwich of the day was actually a grilled cheese. She apologized and asked if I wanted something else instead, which I did, because I was really wanting something heartier like the sandwich she had previously told me. Since there was nothing else available close to it I asked just for a simple burger. She let me know that it would be another 20min AND I would have to pay the price difference. Called a week prior to Valentine's Day to make a reservation for a party of 7 on Valentine's Day. The lady on the phone did not know what the Valentine's Day menu would be. My fiancé and I were hoping to share the Tomahawk steak for dinner. However when we got there, they had a Valentine's Dinner menu only. There was only one dish that had steak. The server told us the steak was out of stock. All of the guys in the group had to either choose lobster tail, crab, fish, stuffed pepper, or a beet dish. I ended up ordering the stuffed pepper which was nothing special. My fiancé got the $75 lobster tail. The lobster was ice cold and very chewy. Halfway through our dining experience, the head chef/owner walks up to our table. The chef was so drunk he wasn't even look at us when speaking to us about the dishes. The chef went to the back room and found more steaks. All of the guys in our party ordered a steak meal. The steak came and it was very chewy. We requested Medium-rare and it was almost rare. $200 later and we were not satisfied with the food, menu, or staff who gave us different answers regarding the status of the steak dishes. read more

There are many things I could tell but am limited in space. We had the Sicrito Spanish pork and it was incredible, The meat was tender and smokey. Like a pork chop as treated by a master chef with roots in Kitsap. The words extraordinary, fantastic and magnificent fail to adequately reflect the flavor. The Sirloin served with three scallops with the signature hollandaise was another masterpiece. If you have not been to Maynards lately, you are missing a world class cuisine prepared by masters in culinary perfection. read more

Maynard's Restaurant has a visually appealing interior however the food did not deliver. In this review we will describe our experiences we had. For breakfast I (M) ordered their "Biscuits & Gravy" with a side of sausage patties and J ordered the "Denver Omelet". We waited for roughly 20 minutes to get our food which is a bit weird considering their were hardly any people inside. When our food was finally brought to us it was not what were were expecting. First off the sausage patties were extremely thin and looked dry. The biscuits and gravy did have that eye appeal, truthfully it looked better than it actually tasted. For J the Denver Omelet looked good as well but the taste was not there. The only thing I (M) liked about the Biscuits and Gravy was the sunny side eggs that came with it. With J's omelet it came with a side of potatoes that were cooked to a crisp. After eating we waited to get out check and that took a while as well. Then we wanted to try there café. They had noting there available other than 2 pastry items and we waited at the counter for a while until finally one of us asked them for help. We ordered a croissant and a cappuccino. The croissant was not bad no different than the ones at Safe Way and the cappuccino was just not good. You're better off getting a cappuccino from Starbucks. Overall our breakfast experience was not the best. We rate it a 3/10. For our next experience we decided to try their lunch. J is only able to eat gluten free items. So we decided to try their pizzas. We ordered the "Margherita" gluten free. Like last time it was not busy when we walked into the restaurant. The wait time this time around was not as bad. When our pizza was done we saw it on the counter for a few minutes before it got to us. Visually the pizza did look appetizing! However like before the flavor did not deliver. The crust tasted as if you were eating croutons with marinara sauce and cheese. It wasn't a bad flavor but its not something you think you would taste when eating a "pizza". However the ranch we ordered on the side was actually really good! If you're a ranch lover this is the spot. The service was a little bit better and just a bit faster but once again there was hardly anybody inside. For our rate for lunch is a 6/10. Overall: We believe Maynard's has the potential to be something great but lacks taste and service. Their menu is a bit pricy but nothing to over the top. However if you are high on service and quality you'll be disappointed. Anyways that is our review we will be exploring more restaurants and leaving more reviews. read more

As they claim "kitsap's culinary destination" this place did not hit the mark. Starting with the good - space was clean and modern, service was great, excellent wait staff. On the other end, food was not great for what it costs. Got the fettuccini Alfredo, sauce was way too thick that when it arrived it was congealed and hard to mix. The chicken I added, was dry dry dry. So dry I couldn't even eat it. For a $22 dish, I was highly disappointed. Giving them a 3 merely because the staff made the experience redeemable but would not recommend the food. read more

We went for the Valentine special. We had to go in to make the reservation as no one called us back. The waitress came and told us how tired she was and how long she had been there. The salad had hardly any green goddess dressing and was bitter. The hazelnut chicken had no flavor at all and barely any sauce that was advertised. Plain potatoes ! We asked to add bread and waitress said it would take way to long. Their were 4 girls at the hostess desk doing nothing but chatty chatting. No one checked on us. No one asked how we liked it. When I went before there was a $35 mistake on the bill that I noticed next day. They were angry about going through all the receipts for the day. The building is nice. I was thrilled with all the hype that announced the coming of Maynard's- I pictured an old-fashioned market with seasonal goods and a wonderful restaurant with local produce and... you get the picture. The biggest disappointment was seeing the "market." Refrigerated cases with ready to eat sandwiches and the owner's wife's book. And some other miscellaneous things. My daughter and I looked at the menu and weren't really impressed, but were seated any way. We just couldn't decide, because it seemed like everything was catering toward trendy, and it was very expensive. It was a good thing we had a while to decide because the service was terrible. After waiting fifteen minutes we left. Fast forward four months- decided to try again. Better menu! Saturday at noon, very few customers. Seated quickly, still fifteen Minnie's before being acknowledged. Thanks to Chris the bartender who finally took pity on us! Any way, small portions, still expensive, but qualities is good. My family has been waiting to try Maynard's out and so far have only tried their brunch. We went the other morning for brunch and were pleasantly surprised to find out that there wasn't a huge wait first of all. Right off the bat the only thing that really put us off is that we had our 3 year old with us and they handed us a kids menu but it was for dinner/lunch. I asked if they had a kids menu for brunch and were told no by both the waitress and the hostess. They said that they could make her something but it's always hard to do that when they don't have a menu because you never know what they are going to charge for said items. Ideally they would have a few different kids options but instead there were none. We ended up ordering her a $5 english muffin since there wasn't other options really, definitely not ideal. I would have loved to order her an egg, toast, fruit option etc. ( I had previously messaged the restaurant asking if they had kids menus for brunch and didn't receive a response until after we had already gone, oddly they said that they did in fact have a menu and that they will need to re-educate their staff. I did appreciate the quick response and have managed multiple food establishments myself so the response wasn't taken lightly. I just would have much preferred to have received the proper information for my daughter so she could have had a better meal. ) They started off by bringing us complimentary lemon poppyseed muffins and they were a pleasant little surprise. I tried the biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs and it was really delicious! The gravy was really tasty and the scrambled eggs definitely tasted like fresh eggs (you know how you can just taste the difference with fresh eggs, these definitely tasted that way). My husband tried one of their breakfast burgers and absolutely loved it. The food was quite enjoyable and we were very glad to have gone to try it out. We will have to come back and try the dinner another time. On the way out I did also buy an Almond Croissant to try later, I was disappointed in the lack of Almond paste, it really tasted more like a croissant with almonds on top instead of filled with almond paste. Now, I went to school as a pastry chef so sometimes I can be a bit picky about them but definitely would change up their recipe on that one. Overall though, enjoyable experience. Most of it tasted great and everyone was extremely nice while we were there, just need to make sure that everyone on staff is well informed about the menu so that children actually get a good meal next time! read more

We weren't sure what to expect but I'm a meat lover and cringe at a menu full of inedible grass items. To my pleasant surprise there were menu items that I was familiar with but all had a mild twist to them to push me to try something a little different about a familiar dish. We were seated just after walking in (this was after the hype of their opening died down) but the wait time between being seated and being welcomed by our server was FAR TOO lengthy. Our seats hit the booth and a whole family was sat across of us afterwards, brought their drinks AND their appetizers before our server greeted us to place our drink orders. I was getting a little impatient but we wanted to give this place a fair shot. The wait time for our drinks were a little much and we were decided on what we wanted when our drinks were served but she decided to let us figure it out for a few more minutes. The appetizers came quickly except for one, the bread board. Our entrees made it to the table before the bread board did as well and so at that point we asked to cancel it. We were then minorly hassled about the fact that it was already being made and it would be out shortly. It's not our fault it took so long to be served and we were already finishing up our main courses. But we decided to just wait for it because we heard it was good & it was. Of course the staff was apologetic about the wait times. All of our food was made correctly and tasted great. We even seen a few more menu items we were willing to try the next time we dropped in. We checked out the cafe afterwards and we were too full to order anything, but it looks amazing & the worker at the counter was so friendly. She informed us on some of their drinks and seemed genuinely interested in us. If I were to be invited back here I would accept. read more

We have eaten at Maynard's a few times with good results. I would like to review our most recent experience, Thanksgiving dinner on 11/23/2023. We made reservations several weeks in advance, and when we arrived, it only took a few minutes to get seated. The meal choices were excellent and the offered side dishes (risotto especially) were outstanding. The turkey and the ham dinners were excellent and tasted good. The turkey was actually very moist, unlike most restaurant versions. This was by far the best restaurant Thanksgiving dinner we have ever had and we will returning to Maynard's more frequently in the future. Highly recommended. read more

Maynard's is a more upscale restaurant for the Silverdale area. We ate here with some adults and teenage kids. Not a place to take young ones. I like that they offer cooking classes here and will look into this. Menu had a few specialties but not a huge variety of choices offered. So there has been a ton of hype about this new restaurant in Silverdale. (Lord knows we need more fine dining experiences here in Kitsap!) We went for a first time last night, and overall, we had an enjoyable meal. But there were a number of miscues, some that you would expect with a new launch, and a couple of head scratchers. Our waitress was very kind, but seemed to lack some basic knowledge concerning the menu, but again, bugs to work out. They were out of several menu items. A glass of the Sauvignon Blanc was only $8, but the Chardonnay was $12? One would think you would have a House Red and a House white? I ordered one of their draft beers (a citrusy IPA), but they were out, so I ordered a bottled beer. It was served poured in the glass, without the bottle. It didn't taste quite right, and a few minutes later, another waitress came up and informed me that I had been served the wrong beer. She gave me the supposedly correct beer, but it still didn't taste right. After getting our bill, I realized that they had served me a blonde ale, rather than an IPA. Not a biggie, but just basic details. Additionally, I always find it helpful when restaurants list the alcohol content of their beers. I ordered the Dive Scallops. According to the menu, they are topped with caviar. Actually, it was flying fish roe (tobiko). It was served along with wasabi brussel sprouts (actually, it was just brussel sprout leaves), and a supposedly spicy ponzu (which I didn't see or taste). But still, the dish was tasty, and I ate it all! We were sitting in a booth along the Western window, and the sun was blinding! Some shades would be very much appreciated. I looked at the lunch menu online, and it actually looks more appealing than their dinner menu! I anticipate that the owners will make all the necessary adjustments as time goes on, and no doubt, Maynards will be a huge success! read more

I had been waiting a while for this place to open, then stalled on dining in. When we walked it, it didn't immediately smell very good. It smelled like a deep fryer. The decor is very tasteful, I love the open kitchen. The small details have been weighed and considered. This makes for a very pleasant dining in experience. We tried a little bit of everything. I truly enjoyed the Ruben fries, the house made slaw was perfect and the thin fries were perfectly crisp and seasoned. My husband had the smoked beets and Oregonzola burger. He doesn't usually enjoy fries but he loved how thick the fries were and appreciated that they didn't lose their crispy texture on the outside. He was pretty full by the time he tried to eat the beets but he liked how earthy they were. He was glad to box them and share with a health conscious friend who thoroughly enjoyed them. I had the bratdog and fries as well. I like the choice or mustard and onion on the dog. There wasn't so much that the brat was drowning in sauce, it was very balanced and the brat had a delicious snap with every bite. I also had a daily special - the bacon ranch flatbread. It was my least favorite thing, the bread was a little flabby and it lacked a flavorful punch. However it was still tasty. The raspberry pana cotta was small but amazing. I am a huge fan of pana cotta and in the PNW it's not easy to come by. It was delicately smooth and the raspberry sauce was deliciously tart. The fresh fruit was an added bonus. The only thing I would change is the size, I wanted more to enjoy. The key lime cheesecake was a great end to my husbands meal. He liked the thickness of the cheesecake and the size. He said he would definitely recommend. Over all this was a very nice experience. Our server was both polite and attentive, she kept our glasses filled and our table clean and free of empty dishes. The staff seemed to support one another well, and they communicated well. Note: while the view is "nice" very close to picturesque, when the mid day sun "1:37" came in, it was like blinding light. The blinding light and smell were my biggest issues. The restaurant door is a little obscure. We hope to return again for dinner. read more

This place needs some help. I was there on Friday night in a party of 4, and half of us had decent entrees. Biggest complaint: cold food. Considering the slowness of the service, that's not surprising and pretty easy to fix. The worst entree is easily the lamb. I asked for medium rare, and received VERY well done. If that is the only way they serve the lamb shank, the server should have said so so I could order something else. The bed of polenta it was served on was stone cold, and the vegetables were both cold and extremely undercooked. The charcuturie appetizer (served under a laughably pretentious dome of smoke that left us all smelling like a campfire) was boring, small, and ridiculously overpriced at $22. Service: as I already said, very slow. Also, not good. Two beers ordered resulted in 3 beers delivered, and two tonic & lime with no straws ordered resulted in 2 club sodas with straws delivered. The server had no idea what was on the menu and how to describe it, even though the entree list is pretty short. Management was very responsive to complaints, however, so that is good sign. The ambience: far too brightly lit. The dining room has a hospital cafeteria feel. Surprisingly, it's not loud in spite of the very open floor plan, so this might be fixable. The bar is tiny and criminally understaffed, considering it took nearly half an hour for them to draw a few beers. I'm inclined to give it another chance, in the hope that most of these issues will be ironed out after they've been open a while. The owner/manager is highly motivated, so there is reason to hope for better things. But I would advise waiting a few months. read more

The Brussels sprouts were undercooked, i.e., hard, and when I asked them to be cooked some more, they came back tasting bad (rancid?). My burger was edible, but I didn't finish it. Silverdale is so in need of a new restaurant, and we were really looking forward to this place !! Three of us were there on friday night. The margarita was so sour I sent it back, & ordered a red blend wine, which was good. My friends moscow mule was mostly ice. Beets app' was very tasty. Pasta pappardelle was just ok, the meat was VERY chewy. The sliders were very dry. The lamb shank was good but none of the dishes were hot. Dessert, bread pudding; delicious!, but very small, not for sharing. Service; Very slow. Bathroom; I thought I was at a hospital ! All in All, disappointing, but they're new so I hope it gets better.
