The best Mediterranean food you can get in the whole upstate New York. Mazadars delicious taste is a taste that I can't forget! I'm very happy about their portions, which are very considerate. They offer squeeze bottles which means unlimited amount of sauces onto your plate which is very wonderful! I would say this place is a hidden gem in our community. Also, I was expecting it to be a little pricey but when I went in it was a casual and very clean Mediterranean restaurant with prices that can't be beat, hands down. Awesome. Simply awesome. We got the chicken kofta wrap and lamb kabob. Seems silly, but they looked just like the picture! Very well seasoned and quite tasty. Portions were great, maybe a little too much rice with the lamb kabob. Lamb kabob was juicy and tender. The chicken kofta wrap was delicious and hit the spot. My wife and I had our first visit to Mazadar and each had the traditional kabob dinners ( chicken and lamb). Both were adequate sized portions of meat, rice and a small salad. The nan pieces were tiny and it was disappointing that they cheaped out on this part of the meal. Overall it was a good, fresh meal and we would try something else on the menu next time. I kept walking by here when I went tanning and I noticed it was a nice restaurant. Looks very clean I always saw people in there. I was hesitant I didn't think I'd like this style of food. Wow was I wrong. I've eaten here 3 times now, I've had the wings, chicken kabob salad and the steak wrap. It's always fresh and it's something different instead of the same food everywhere. We Heard about it on Food Friday on WAMC.org, so when we happened to be in Albany we went. The food itself was fresh and decidedly spiced with interesting flavors. Over two visits we had the meat and peas dumplings, eggplant borjani (sp.) and pumpkin appetizers. All were delicious tho for our taste buds the pumpkin could be a dessert, as there seemed to be added sweetener in it. We have also eaten the falafel salad and loved it. the eggplant dish was so good we went home and made it ourselves via a YouTube recipe. The restaurant is more like a fast food place where you order at the counter and then it is brought to your table. spacious clean and bright place. we Will return. read more

I love Afgani food. The spices and the quality are just incomparable. I went here for a OYE a few months back and loved so many things and finally had an opportunity to go back. One of my favorite items on the menu is their pumpkin appetizer. It's called a more traditional name but if you say pumpkin appetizer the cashier can point you in the right direction. The pumpkin is phenomenal in any season. It comes with this delicious white sauce and I could eat a whole bowl of it! I then offered the lamb which is my favorite type of meat in any Mediterranean restaurant and it is cooked so well. A nice touch to this restaurant is eating on glass plates and using proper silverware. It really makes everything taste that much better, or at least I think so. Mazadar caters, does take out and it a wonderful place to sit down and take a load off. It's great for groups or alone. Go visit, see what you think. read more

We have had some good Afghan food but this was the some of the best Afghan food we have had! Everything was so delicious. Loved the juicy tender lamb kebabs, mantu were super tasty, the veg platter (sampling all veg) was incredible, rice and bread, everything just so yummy. Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff, super super clean interior. We took takeout and it traveled incredibly well home. Can't say enough good things -- go now!! read more

I don't get the hype either. In terms of decor, this place looks like a total chain, although they will run your food out to you after you order it. My eggplant appetizer was the highlight and definitely well-spiced, although it was quite greasy. I appreciated that it came with the warm afghan naan that also accompanies the platters. My partner and I both ordered falafel; I got the wrap and he got the platter. The wrap was served in a different type of bread that was larger than the naan, but not nearly as delightful. The shape of the bread made it impossible to pick up and eat the sandwich without all of the contents falling out. It was a mess. The falafel was also smashed into pieces for some reason and dry. (Note that the sandwich is supposed to come with a yogurt sauce that I couldn't eat, so perhaps that would have also masked the dryness?) Thankfully, the house-made cilantro and hot sauces were delicious, although nothing to write home about and applying them added to the already completely inedible mess of a sandwich I was dealing with. I also was not impressed with the vegetable component of the sandwich, which included some lifeless iceberg lettuce and tomato slices. I suppose the vegetables are kind of after thought for people who are getting meat kabobs? read more

Second time coming here and the food is always fantastic. Just a flawless food operation being run by the folks at Mazadar Mediterranean Kitchen. After browsing the menu, my girl and I decided to go with the Hummus starter and split the chicken kebab meal and the chicken kofta gyro. Table was set to perfection when the gentleman dropped off the three sauces ahead of the meal delivery to the table. White sauce is delightful and along the lines of your standard white sauce on gyros. Red sauce is a little spicy but the tang combination makes it a welcome addition to all entrees. Finally the green sauce provides some high notes with a cilantro/green salsa feel. Afghan naan was baked to perfection and came with the Hummus starter and the kebab meal. Chicken was tender and so amazingly flavorful. Only regret is not trying the lamb that the folks at the table over were raving about. Guess it'll have to wait until my next visit. 13/10 would recommend this joint to anyone who does food and likes to do food right. Bravo! read more
