I really wanted to give a good rating to Mazaya. I ordered the falafel plate, the falafel sandwich and the spicy potatoes. The food was just okay. The spicy potatoes were not spicy at all. I sat down around 10:22. Within one hour of beginning my meal, I began to sense that I would have an upset stomach. I drove home, arriving home at 11:45 and went to the restroom. Absolutely loved it. Tasted fresh and flavorful. Loved the fresh cooked beets in my salad. Loved the hummus. The garlic sauce. The fresh grilled veggies were a plus!!! (Tomato, onion and jalapeño!!). The food might have been good, but the 45 minute wait made the over all experience horrible. When they finally brought food the order was wrong and took another ten mins to fix. We were a group of 3 on a Friday at 1:30pm. Service was amazing the young man was very informative, helpful and courteous. The lamb sandwich and lentil soup was flavorful. When the young man served me he recommended adding a lil lemon and that was the best recommendation. The Lentil soup comes with Lemon and Mint on the side and the Lamb sandwich came with lamb sauce which has a horseradish taste to it. I would definitely recommend this spot to a friend and they will definitely be getting my business again in the future. I ordered take out from here, the salmon plate. The salmon was unbelievably dry and the pita bread was stale. After trying about half of the salmon I decided not to eat it anymore in fear of getting sick. I ate the rice and salad only from the plate. Now a day later I am sick with an upset stomach. I know without a doubt I got sick from the food here. I am disappointed since the reviews for this place are very good. Was excited to see a Mediterranean spot open so close to me and it did NOT disappoint!! I tried the lamb kebab, which comes with hummus, basmati rice, salad, and pita. The lamb was tender and flavorful, the rice was cooked perfectly, and the hummus was some of the best I've had in a while. The man working was also extremely friendly and helpful. A hole-in-the-wall hidden gem! We found this through Yelp, and I'm so glad that I did. It's located in the very non-descript strip mall with the large Ross store. When we came, there were a few other people who had ordered take out and were waiting for their order. We ordered the lamb chops and beef shwarma. Both were delicious and very reasonably priced! In fact, we were very impressed by the amount of the meats they gave us! Both meats were very tender and flavorful. The lamb didn't smell gamey at all. When we picked up the food, the cashier made a point to show us the lamb and ensure that we had the right order. They also provided a very delicious garlicy sauce -- not sure whether that is supposed to be for the meat or the bread, but we loved it! But be warned that it will have your breath scarying away vampires (and anyone whom you'd like to kiss). The sleeper is the salad. It's *just* salad right? I really liked the dressing: tangy and light. The sumac was a nice addition. I also really like the picked radish (?). Overall, a delicious meal that is very reasonably priced! read more

Mazaya Mediterranean Grill in La Mirada is a great little restaurant. I had the Chicken Tawook dish and it was delicious. Loved everything about this meal, hummus was creamy, the salad was fresh and chicken was perfectly grilled, perfectly spiced and delightful. My daughter had the garlic/chili potatoes and she said they were the bomb. I seldom give five stars, but both the service and the food were outstanding. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. First timers. Ordered Delivery. We are spoiled having had the most wonderful Greek food around the corner from us for the past 10 years in our old neighborhood. The husband tried to satisfy my Mediterranean craving so I had not read the menu. This place has room for improvement. Not awful, but not outstanding yet. I've never had a lamb sandwich with pickles, or without tzatziki so that was a first. Some of the lamb chunks were perfectly cooked, others were undercooked. A Greek salad type companion would be nice. The falafel unfortunately was pretty over cooked so although it had good flavor, it was a bit tough and dry. We love this place, eating here about once a week. The kafta is delicious, seasoned perfectly. The chicken shawarma is succulent and so flavorful. The falafel are perfect, not greasy at all. We used to patronize a different Middle Eastern restaurant but the owners sold and the quality of that food declined. Mazaya's food, on the other hand, just gets better and better. Very disappointed with MAZAYA. Never had a problem until today. We got home and realized that my order was wrong. We called the restaurant to let them know, and the young man who answered the phone was condescending and disrespectful, going as far as saying that we were "pushing it" over incorrect sides. There was absolutely NO effort made to rectify the error, and there wasn't even an apology for their error. I was only able to try the meat, which was so overpeppered, that it was inedible. $20 down the drain. They officially lost a customer and any referrals, and we strongly discourage anyone from coming here, unless you simply enjoy being treated like a dollar sign. We highly encourage you go to Zankou Chicken in Anaheim instead. read more

The food here was actually decent. I definitely can't say it was bad. The only negative I can really say is that the spices were so heavy I was still tasting them a day and a half later. This is after brushing my teeth and using mouthwash numerous times as well as chewing gum. I've never experienced this at any other restaurant in my life. It was definitely unique. The portions were all pretty good size here. I tried the chicken shawarma as well as a little bit of the kebab or whatever they call it here. The staff was pretty friendly. The only other potential negative depends on how you feel on the whole mask situation. In LA County you currently have to wear a mask to enter any business. For restaurants once you start eating obviously you can take your mask off. The staff is supposed to be wearing masks. I personally don't care as I am vaccinated. I am OK being around people maskless. This is more for the people that are concerned about the mask situation. None of the employees working in the front area were wearing masks including when they took my order. They are supposed to be, but like I said, it doesn't bother me. I just want people to be aware if that's an issue for them they may not want to come here. Would I come back again? I'm not really sure. I'm leaning towards probably not. I am still searching for the best Mediterranean spot locally since my favorite went under during the stay at home order. read more

Decent food, nothing spectacular and at a decent price. We came early for a weeknight dinner, immediately ordered and was ~5 min before the first dish came out. Chicken Shawarma was like a large taquito, mostly chicken and garlic sauce with a sprinkling of pickled vegetables in there. Garlic sauce carried the shawarma with the chicken contributing a kick of spice. So few of the pickled vegetables that they did not contribute much to the overall experience other than a crunch for texture. Lamb kabob plate was very large, enough for a whole meal. The lamb itself was dry and/or slightly charred on the outside and the flavor was just soso. Lots of delicious and smooth hummus, good portion of rice and pita bread. The side salad had balsamic vinegar type dressing, enjoyable, and some grilled vegetables too that needed some seasoning. Last to come out was the falafel plate appetizer. I love falafel and was a bit let down by these. The seasoning was solid and they were served hot and fresh, but slightly over cooked to the point it was hard to pierce the outside with a fork, took a dedicated force and so the outside was very crunchy. Chicken kabob was burnt, lacked flavor, hummus had no flavor, I will not be coming back. People on here saying food is delicious- you all need to try some REAL Mediterranean food!
