Love this place, has turned into a weekly spot. I love the koobideh skewers and lentil soup.

This spot is currently to-go only. I was looking for a good Mediterranean restaurant while visiting my home town and stumbled upon this spot. It's next to Gondola's, a pizza/Italian joint I frequented when growing up. The cashier was very friendly and accommodated both my cousin's and my order as she's gluten intolerant and I'm not the biggest fan of tomatoes. We both ordered the filet mignon plate. Comes with basmati rice, hummus, a small salad, and typically charbroiled tomatoes (but I asked for these to be replaced with onions and peppers) *as seen in the photo* everything was good, filet mignon was chewy but very good and flavorful. We even had an issue with our grape leaves missing, but we called back and they refunded the grape leaves for us when we realized the mistake upon getting home. Great experience along with good customer service despite the little hiccup, but I would definitely recommend this spot for your Mediterranean fix. Cheers! read more

Wow this place is amazing. Food was so delicious we got the mix grill from the catering menu. Meat was delicious, rice was so yum: It was affordable and portions were very generous. Positives: Good Portion sizes. Fairly quick. Improvements: Masks were not worn at all times. The person who I am assuming was the cook brought our food from the back with no mask. We ordered a Beef and Chicken Shwarma plate. Both had little flavor. Hummus was way too bland for my liking. The garlic sauce was the only thing that gave the chicken flavor. Tho if you go to a place like mazaya and the hummus isn't good, you probably shouldn't eat there. If they can't do hummus right, that's a red flag. But these guys are great! 1 star for their hummus. I was craving for some Mediterranean food after grocery shopping and this spot was the closest one, yelp reviews were pretty good so I said alright might as well try it, got there, place was dead. ordered the filet mignon kabob and my boyfriend ordered the lamb and chicken kabob to go! Food smelled good, so I expected it was going to be good. Got home started eating and I was sooo disappointed! Everything in my plate was dry and bland, from the pita to their meat. I've had Mediterranean food from different places and trust me when I say this place does not compare to any of them, not even a bit close. I'm very picky when it comes to my filet mignon, what they served me was rubber. I couldn't even chew the meat it was that dry, the tabbouleh was bland, the rice was bland, hummus was not bad though its the only thing I liked! I hope this review helps them improve their food quality and taste. This review is meant for their improvements. But I don't even know if I would ever come back to this spot. Just disappointing. Also I attached some photos of my food for reference. PS!!!!! my boyfriend got food poisoning, he ordered lamb and chicken kabob. We will definitely not come back!! Take precautions people! I love the friendly service and the clean restaurant. I I wouldn't ask for a tip on your Clover cash register unless you offer table service. Seems harmless enough but I know of people that won't return just based on that. Ok, so the food. I only tried the beef shawarma but the rest of the menu is everything else I like about Middle East food. The hummus was perfect with a smooth consistency but not paste-like. Strong sesame flavor from the Tahini and only a hint of garlic and lemon. The beef had the flavor I expected but it was dry. I will try something else next time or ask for some garlic sauce to put with it. The salad was very lemony with large red radish rectangles on it. It was a good contrast to the dry beef and rich hummus. The basmati rice was the best part. It was fluffy, chewy, and fragrant - I swear no matter what recipe I try I cannot get it this perfect at home. This is probably the best $10 meal you can get within 5 miles. So we've tried a few schwarma joints in the area and so far this is the best. They had a great amount of food and was very reasonably priced. The place was very clean as well. This place is spot on! The kofta was perfectly seasoned and moist with the right amount of char. The Baba ghanoush was delicious, smokey and creamy. We finally had a family gathering in February, outside. We usually make food, but this time, we bought food from Mazaya. Wow!!! Everyone complimented the food. It was SO good! The prices were so much better than trying to do it ourselves, the presentation was lovely. We just put trays of chicken, rice, hummus, flat bread and the amazing, yummy garlic sauce and even our veggie-only family loved it. Thank you Mazaya for making our family gathering about visiting instead of making food. I'm so sorry I don't have photos of the food. I ordered two chicken Kabob Twook plates. One plate had hair on the lid of the take out container as I opened it. The second plate had hair inside the Hummus!! Disgusting!!!! This is my first time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered more than one plate of falafel and fries on a Saturday. AFTER I PUT A WRITTEN REQUEST to please make sure the food is made FRESH. The falafel was old and dry. The fries were dry and the Arab bread was a JOKE. OLD! I don't buy the comments that they give generous amounts of food. DO NOT waste your money and time with Mazaya. If you want REAL and FRESH Mediterranean food, my thoughts. Go to Al Tannour or Kareem Falafel in Anaheim. We would of that day but they were closed. Disappointment overall.
