Tiramisu, leaf cookies, and powdered sugar almond cookies
    Jessica F.

Was looking forward to coming here because I heard such great reviews but it was not it for me. I ordered the tiramisu, leaf cookies and the powdered sugar almond cookies. The tiramisu tasted like it had definitely been sitting out all day but it also lacked flavor and the cookies tasted stale. I came close closing, so I'll have to come back again when they first open for perhaps a fresher selection and the lard bread they seem to be famous for. This is your typical run of the mill Italian American pastry shop vibe. I read some reviews the staff was rude but they were fine. This is a cash only joint so make sure you bring some.

    Lard Bread/Prosciutto Bread

I've lived in New York my entire life and not exactly sure I ever had lard bread also called prosciutto bread before. I think I may have had it as part of the bread basket at Park Side in Corona but today was the first time I specifically looked for it. I actually heard of this place from this Italian guy on IG called Brooklynbitess that awarded this the number one prosciutto bread out of the 10 or so spots he tried. The food: Prosciutto/Lard Bread- I had it cold and I thought it was still really good, I had it heated the next day and it really was much better after heated. It's very pepper forward and I enjoyed that the bread wasn't too salty from the prosciutto. I really enjoyed the chew from the bread, it had a nice softness but the outside had a nice crunch. I would definitely get this again. Also, this place is a few blocks from Lucali so you could do both in the same trip. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Kckttdy05BqTkuhG4ALuQw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Chocolate Croissant- I ordered this as a rec from the woman that was working there and the croissant was much better than what I was expecting from an Italian bakery. I liked the texture of the croissant and I thought the flavor of the chocolate filling was good and it also wasn't too sweet.

Amazing Italian American Bakery in NYC - likely the best in USA! So fortunate to discover this in Carroll Gardens.

    Best thing Lard bread

What can you say about a local bakery? My favorite thing is the lard bread. Take it home then slice it thin and then toast, so good by itself or with some avocado on it. I love their plain Italian bread. It's a side for sore eyes since I used to live in the area.

Delicious bread and pastries, reasonable prices and long hours. Closed before 8 on Saturday, so perhaps hours need to be updated.

The space is relatively small, with a line inside and outside and a few tables outside. The length of the line and wait time varies based on the time of day and if you go on a weekday vs weekend. Go early if you don't want them to sell out of anything or purposely go a little later if you want one of their lunch sandwiches on focaccia. I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I also had the shakshuka focaccia which is divine and I would absolutely recommend both. I need to come back to try their sandwiches as well. I am not a sweets person, but everyone I know loves their pastries. Getting someone a gif tcard here makes for a great gift.

Dropped by Radio Bakery on the Tuesday morning after Memorial Day and the lines weren't too crazy…read more I got there in time to grab some breakfast items and baked goods, and then waited at a table outside for the lunch items to get set out around 11AM. I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

Radio Bakery... is perfection. I completely understand the line…read more I first ordered the heirloom tomato & feta sandwich, which was unbelievable. It is so clear that they use incredibly high-quality ingredients and carefully curate each component, which is exactly why everything comes together in such an elevated way. The tomatoes reminded me of the ones I grew in my garden during California summers as a teenager. Perfectly salted, layered over soft, not-too-tart feta. The focaccia was made with beautiful olive oil and, while a bit chewier than I usually prefer, gave the sandwich a satisfying bite. I had to close my eyes while eating it just to savor it. The chocolate cherry almond croissant... wow. Such a creative combination, and it did not disappoint. Soft, buttery, and filled with a sour cherry compote that reminded me of a cherry cordial from a box of chocolates. 5/5. Hainsley, who helped me, was exceptionally lovely. Everyone even in line was very nice, the vibes were awesome. I'll definitely be back to try the spicy tofu sandwich and the heirloom tomato tart!
