I concur with Larry. We've been fortunate to have David and MB Trans as our go-to-guys.

This is an honest review to help others who require auto repair. This was my experience at TL…read moreAuto... I walked in and asked for a quote for my WRX, a clutch and hydraulic replacement, and was given an estimate of over $6,000! After doing some research and checking with local Subaru specialists such as PM Autoworks, I found that TL's pricing was nearly double the market rate for both parts and labor. Unfortunately, TL Auto quoted $4,242.99 just for the clutch replacement, WITHOUT a flywheel resurface or a flywheel. PM Autoworks quoted $2,058.09 for the same job WITH an OEM flywheel. In my case, TL Auto is applying HUGE markups on basic OEM hardware. For example, TL auto charges $942.87 JUST for a "Genuine" clutch flywheel, AND $948.94 for a clutch kit, which comes out to $1,891.81 for BOTH. Fortunately, PM Autoworks charges $921.68 for BOTH the OEM clutch and OEM flywheel, and other parts that make up a clutch kit are also included in the price. TL quoted over $1,700 for the replacement of the master/slave cylinders. I was able to source the high-quality Japanese OEM parts (Seiken/Nabtesco) from PartsGeek for $280.10, and PM Autoworks charges 2 hours of labor (inquired after the quote) instead of the 4+ hours implied by TL's quote. By going to PM Autoworks instead of TL Auto, I am saving an HONEST $4,000 for the same work!! In my case, the price difference isn't just a few hundred dollars--it's thousands! If you work hard for your money, I strongly recommend that anyone, especially Subaru owners, AVOID the "general repair" markups at TL Auto. (See attached photos for proof of the price gap.) *** UPDATE*** Just got the work done (and then some) on my WRX by PM Auto. For all the work performed, the total was UNDER $3k! (Invoice in picture). It only took them 6 hours--straight up skills. TL Auto claims their pricing "reflects the quality of parts we use and the confidence we have in the work performed." That's fine, but high quality shouldn't be an excuse to charge an absurd markup for "exceptional service." They also claim their pricing includes complimentary rideshare and free loaner vehicles, yet a friend of mine who had work done there was never offered those services. Let's get one thing straight, PartsGeek is one of the BEST places to get OEM parts at a respectable price. Just because they are a "discount website" doesn't mean they aren't an equivalent comparison. They sell the exact same parts without the massive markup. Some businesses, like TL Auto, clearly don't like it when customers do their research and shop smart. Even more telling: TL Auto failed to admit they overcharged on their estimate for the SAME OEM parts that PM Auto sourced directly from the dealership. I'm sharing this to be transparent about my experience. I don't want others to be robbed by shops like this. I will never take my cars back there, and I'll be advising everyone I know to stay away as well. (Final invoice in the pictures)

I brought my car in due to an intermittent gear slipping issue, which I had already traced to a solenoid problem--a very common issue with my Pontiac G6. The symptoms only occurred twice, very briefly. My check engine light came on both times but turned off on its own. I was still able to drive the car on the freeway at full speed with no issues. The problem only showed up during city stop-and-go traffic. I specifically asked if they could just replace the solenoid, and was told no. Instead, I was told I "only had gears 1 and 2" and that I'd need a $4,800 transmission rebuild--which is objectively false, as I literally drove the car 70+ mph on the freeway both before and after leaving the shop. My engine light was off before coming to the shop, turned on once at the shop, then turned back off shortly after leaving. There is no way my car had only gears 1 & 2 I know what that feels like as it happened twice briefly. So to say this to me is insane. Mind you wouldn't have been able to go more than 25 with out the car struggling they must have assumed I don't know a thing about cars. Possibly because I'm a woman and I went alone. They also claimed the solenoid was too difficult to access without replacing the computer and warned me about my car's mileage, as if that meant it wasn't worth fixing. But then, on my way out, they admitted it's a "really great car" and "this is the only issue." It felt manipulative. I decided to trust my gut, went to a different shop, and had the solenoid replaced--and now my car runs perfectly fine. No rebuild needed. If I hadn't known what I was talking about, they would've gladly let me spend thousands on a completely unnecessary repair. Trust yourself. Do your research. Don't let fear-based upselling push you into something you don't need. Also from reading the reviews it sounds like the routinely tell their customers they need a rebuild and successfully do the rebuild. (more than likely something very easily replaceable) However a good transmission shop doesn't just rebuild, they properly and honestly diagnose and repair. He also tried selling me cars on the way out. Notice how he hasn't replied to this yelp review and also told me he feels bad for me in the text? Very unprofessional I don't need your pitty I needed honesty which I didn't get from this shop. He also told me don't buy a used car you can't guarantee you won't have problems it's best if you fix this one with us. Also told me not to go to another shop because id want a local shop lol

We were told that one of the closest "certified" carvana shop was AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car due to the fact that it was the transmission being the issue this would be a better shop to go to- WRONG! So now that you have context, i'll explain the terrible service we've received. We dropped the car off at AAMCO on June 18 (thursday) @ 12pm and we were told we wouldn't hear anything back until next day. So far, normal. Right? Well here is the frustrating part, we got a call on Friday with great news that the car is ready to be picked up, we were asked to give them about 30-40 mins to get paperwork together (which worked out because that's about the time it takes to get there) Alas, we got back to the shop around lunch time (closer to 1) on friday and first of all- they had the vehicle parked in a red zone, in front of a fire hydrant. (see photo) When we walked in, the gentleman we dropped it off to recognized us immediately and said "You're here for the tahoe right?" we responded with yes. Now another gentleman sitting in the lounge, eating his lunch interrupts and immediately says "you can't take the tahoe, oh no, the tahoe isn't ready yet" Baffled we asked, "So why did we receive a call from someone here saying the car was ready? " his response - "who called you?" We responded with "a gentleman named Isaac" he proceeded to argue back "noooo, that car isn't ready yet" he then asked for our phone number and when provided, he realized HE was the one who reached out and told us the car was ready. But it wasn't. As he realized - there was no apology , no sincerity in his voice, and just blatant disrespect by laughing it off. Noticeably upset we continued to ask questions "so why did we get a call that the car is good to go and ready?" and he just said "oh that was meant for someone else". Now even more upset because he wasn't taking accountability and giving us zero information about the actual vehicle. Until we finally turned to the other guy who pretty much told us that we have to get a brand new transmission ‍ Which was entirely brand new news from the last phone call we got. Now, we aren't impatient people and understand that mistakes happen and miscommunications happen all the time but what we felt was disrespectful is that he just laughed in our face, while this has been a stressful task to begin with. With gas prices these days, driving back and forth for no reason is upsetting. Again, no sincere apology from him just laughs, while continuously stuffing his face with food mind you. WAIT WAIT WAIT- UPDATE! We showed up today June 20 (saturday) to pick up the car so that we can get it back to carvana, lo and behold - NOW THE CAR ISN'T EVEN STARTING! Carvana sent us a lemon and now they are making us deal with disrespectful sexist men. Yes, due to the fact that we are women is the reason I believe we were treated like this by Isaac. Interesting how the whole time it's been in our possession since Monday it has started totally fine, now we take it to the shop and they told us it was a 50/50 chance it would start. Again, the one younger guy that was there was decent but the older gentleman (i believe his name was Isaac) is a poor excuse of a human. Anyway, management- Isaac needs a refresher on how to speak to customers or just a reminder to be kind and to just take accountability. We're all adults here. Never recommending this business to anyone!

When I was trying to pre arrange to bring in my car to get checked on he wanted to have it there on his time and not mine. Once I agreed to his time and date he acted like he gave into what I needed he asked why I showed up that day and claimed he agreed to Monday. But I'm a very meticulous person I had Friday on my calendar he even made a comment for me to uber to work bc I said It would be an issue to bring on a work day and a non issue on my free day. When he finally got the part for my car he waited until I showed up to tell me the part didn't work out. So he left it in when I asked why he didn't simply communicate with me and put my old part back in he said it was too much or double the work. Then later proceeds to call me to say he needs the car back to take out the part and put my old part back because he needed to return the part. Very strange bc he could've saved both of us some time just doing it then and there. When I asked for my money back he said he was going to deduct 100$ for the "work" but I don't think it's just taking in consideration that my car was not fixed. He ordered another part and claimed it arrived broken so I'll just take it to Honda and pay whatever their fee is to get it done correctly. He also refused to give me any invoices / itemized receipt for the parts / work being done. Saying it would've been more to write it up in the shop meaning I don't know if I'm being charged accordingly or overcharged.
