The new owner is a crook. He overcharges and hounds you for payment for work they haven't done. His workers are good but he's a nightmare to deal with and you can't trust him. Tried to bill me thousands of dollars for work they didn't do. Don't use this guy you will regret it. The previous owners were much much better. I would give him less than 1 star. read more

Our 40 year old furnace decided to die the second week of November. I contacted MC and they came out right away to see if it could be fixed (we knew it was a goner!) and start the estimate process. Miguel provided an estimate quickly and offered us several options regarding the install. Maria at MC was wonderful in keeping us updated on the furnace order and our change requests. I think we went from the call on Nov 8th or 9th to completed install on the 19th - amazing (especially these days!). My apologies, I cannot remember the names of the men who did the work but they were wonderful! They came right on time, put covers on our floors and were finished by mid-afternoon. They installed a Bryant 2 stage furnace, the prep for the AC which we will do next year and our new Ecobee thermostat. So far, everything is working great. I call them to diagnose my wall furnace. They told me it was too old and they could not find the parts to fix it. They did not even tell me what was wrong with it but send me a quote for almost $4,000 and said I needed a new one. I then called a local handyman and he came out and fixed it for $75 by replacing the thermocouple. I do not recommend this business as they are not honest. And only want to install new ACS and heaters. Buyer beware shop around and get at least three estimates. Most of the time heaters malfunction is because of the thermocouple which can be replaced with a $12 part from home depot. And 5 minutes of your time read more

Miguel and Carlos are the finest in the air-con industry. Last year we called MC Heating and Cooling to quote out a ductless mini-split installation in our townhouse (there was no way to install a standard air conditioner). Between the home survey, planning process, and actual installation they stayed in constant communication and kept their word on the cost. The installation went smoothly and the team did a great job. After a long year of the units just sitting, we had trouble getting them started. Not long after picking up the phone, one of the guys from MC showed up and informed us on how to reset the units (it was just a silly remote issue). Later on, I decided to see if we could get the units hooked up to WiFi. I reached out and they gave me the necessary information over email. The team at MC Heating and Cooling are truly easy to work with and very reliable. This brings me to last week where one of my units was not draining properly. Carlos arrived the next day and looked it over. After running some tests, he discovered the pipe was kinked behind the unit. To get the unit off the wall he needed the rest of the team. They immediately scheduled us for the next day and got us taken care of :) Moral of the story? Miguel and Carlos (and team) are punctual, super knowledgeable, respectful, and very professional. MC Heating & Cooling installed our central air back in mid October. Service was efficient and everything worked great! And they had the most competitive quote when compared to others who gave estimates. Suddenly yesterday our heater wouldn't turn on, and we were worried something happened to our thermostat during that October installation. We called on a Sunday evening and left a message and they were here at 9am Monday morning. Turns out it had nothing to do with their installation and was just a fuse that was broken on our furnace, but they were able to replace it super quick and now we have heat! TL;DR: We've had great experienced with them from the beginning when we got a quote to a follow-up visit where we had an issue with out heater. We'll be calling them anytime we have heating/cooling issues and would highly recommend them! read more

M/C Heating & Cooling just completed the installation of our new HVAC system this week. I highly recommend them. Since our San Mateo Village highly inefficient, subfloor, passive gas furnace was original from 1948, and no ducting or vent work was ever done, we assumed dealing with it would be expensive and so we just procrastinated over the years. Then then gas wall heater in the family room extension broke down late last winter so knew would finally have to deal with the situation. We had a wall A/C unit in the bedroom which was also not in prime condition, thought about the increasing high heat days, poor air quality in fire season, and figured might as well go the whole nine yards. Got one quote that was crazy expensive and then a friend recommended M/C Heating & Cooling. I called and spoke with Maria on a Friday. Miguel came out the next Tuesday, gave his recommendations, and their quote was competitive and reasonable. Its pretty busy now so we were not surprised it took 3 weeks to get on the work schedule. The job was completed in less than two days (all done in the attic). The work crew was friendly, efficient, did a nice job cleaning the work areas both days. And they removed the old wall heater and shut down and safe-made the old furnace which we just left in place. We then got a nice demo of the new furnace blowing hot air for a few minutes, and then even better switched to A/C and felt the whole house cooled down. read more

This team did our new furnace and Air Conditioning last year. Their work was great and timely. This year I called them because my AC was not turning on, the technician came and did not check my system in the attic, he only reset the thermostat and while the reset worked for the AC but messed with the heater set up and a few days later when it was cold, the heater would not turn on and the technician would not answer the phone. I ended up looking into the issue and setting it up again. So I guess their service level will depend on which technician is sent and that's unfortunate. read more

Miguel and his team were fantastic. My husband and I had remodeled our home and prepped the home to install air conditioning when spring rolled around. Our HVAC guy that had been with us during our remodel went dark, and the weather turned hot super fast. A good friend recommend MC Heating, so I called Carlos's cell phone on Tuesday morning. He called me back and set up a consultation for that day. Miguel came to our home 90 minutes after our phone call. Summary: I paid $130 for a visit and my AC system still doesn't cool my house. Details: I made an appointment with MC Heating and Cooling because my AC system is no longer cooling my house. It's in the mid-to-low 80s this afternoon and despite the system running for 3 going on 4 hours now, the temperature in my house is only going up. It's at 79 right now. Every 30 minutes or so, the system completely stops running for about 5 minutes despite the thermostat being nowhere near the target temperature. From the moment the technician walked through my front door, he seemed to have a single goal in mind: To tell me how nothing was wrong with my AC system. For every issue I explained, the technician countered with supposed or unobserved behavior that indicated nothing was wrong. Me: The AC system doesn't lower the temperature at all, even when I run the system all day. Tech: Oh, well you might not see a big temperature drop right away when you turn the system on. Me: Okay, but...that's not the issue. Me: There is hardly any air coming out of the vents. Doesn't that seem like a problem? Tech: Oh, well depending on which vent you put your hand in front of, you might feel different amounts of air coming out. I can feel air coming out of that vent right there. ((points to vent)) Me: I did my best to clearly explain that despite running all afternoon and all evening, the AC system will not lower the temperature in my house by more than 1-2 degrees, even if the temperature outside is below 80. If nothing is mechanically broken with my AC system, it seems abundantly clear that it is not adequately performing its purpose: To cool my home to a comfortable temperature. I needed a solution to that problem and I got none from MC Heating and Cooling, other than a very, very rough guesstimate that a new AC system might run me about $10,000. No details on what kinds of systems I might look at, what brands, etc. So many numbers and units were thrown at me so quickly when we discussed installing a new system that I remember hardly anything from the conversation. This sort of thing really should have been detailed out using pen and paper. Being able to visualize my options is important. To top off this deflating experience, I couldn't pay for the appointment using a credit card. I had to write a stupid check. It's 2020. We live in Silicon Valley. ‍ The technician who came to my house was a perfectly nice person. When he was running late, he gave me a call to let me know which I appreciated. I have no complaints about how he acted or treated me, excluding the part where he didn't seem to want to address my complaints about the AC system. I'm sure there are worse AC companies out there. I could have been misled about the issue, been treated rudely, or overcharged for the appointment. Instead, I simply paid a bunch of money to learn a few facts about AC systems. In the end though, I feel disappointed that I'm stuck back at square one with an AC system that supposedly is capable of cooling my home to some degree but is not. read more

We had Miguel quote us on a high priority project on the first week of March. He gave us a lead time of 3-4 weeks. We accepted, the 3-4 weeks went by not 1 update, I followed up -- they then explain they received the wrong unit from the manufacturer. They pushed us to 4/11, understandable these things happen. Would of been nice to have them reach out to us and communicate this to us vs me having to reach out and follow up and find out that way. I again have to follow up on 4/6 to ensure we are on track for the pushed eta of 4/11. They respond - "Miguel does not want to schedule this job yet until we receive the unit since they got it wrong once. So far lead time is 2 weeks, once it arrives then I will follow up with an install date." - so that is again a push to 4/20. We say ok since we already accepted their proposal and have already been waiting, already invested time and effort and have already created a PO. I follow up again, this entire time they never communicate nothing with me. Their response - "Sorry, nothing yet, coming from factory and they are very slow to respond. You might want to give Miguel a call at 650-670-0887 to find out if there are other options. He is out in the field all day today but you can check in with him around 9am tomorrow." - from 4/12 - 4/21 I am calling and emailing trying to get a hold of him, no answers. I follow up again with the scheduler on 4/21 they ask if I was ever able to speak with Miguel. So I try calling him again to see what the hell is going on. He answered and just says he is not comfortable to work with us and we should go with another company. What in the actual hell?! We just wasted so much time with this guy. He is truly unprofessional. No communication, gives you the run around when you try to follow up. End of the day save yourself stress and time just go with the right people from the get or this will happen. While I can't attest to work quality (I ended up not needing anything done), I can speak to their integrity and professionalism. After being told by a rodent clean up crew that my ducts had been irreparably damaged by rats and were all in need of replacement, I sought a second opinion from MC Heating and Cooling. Miguel managed to fit me in same-day during an extremely busy time of year and concluded that my ducts were just fine - no work was needed. Miguel was awesome. The furnace had been randomly shutting down at random times. I did some research and found the most common problem was that the flame sensor was dirty. I called multiple furnace repair in the area and MC Heating was one of the few that picked up and scheduled for the next day. Once he was on sight he told me it could be a lot of things, but that he would clean the sensor and if that didn't work to call them back and he'd come right back. He also showed me how to read the LCD light that blinks when there's trouble. While he was there I asked him for help running a new wire with a c wire to power my EcoBee thermostat. He went up the attic, ran a new line and was on his way in under an hour. Cleaning the sensor did the trick because the problem went away. The furnace has been running great and the EcoBee powered up 5 minutes after he left. Fantastic service. Will definitely call him again when it's time to replace the furnace. I started looking for a HVAC company to install a new heat and cooling system in My home in April. I made contact with 5 companies. Got 3 proposals none made any sense and left many unanswered questions, if the new system could fit in the present space. Seeing MC Heating and cooling at a neighbors home I gave them a call. They were busy but Carlos (the owner) came out and gave me a complete proposal that addressed the "fit" issue, relocating my heating and cooling system to the crawl space of my home. On Tuesday Sept 28, Eli the foreman and 3 other craftsmen arrived and 9 am working together professionally to installed new duct work, a two zone heating and cooling system and were done a 5 pm. One day! Eli walked me thru the operating of the new system. I have spent 50 years in the commercial institutional construction business as a owners representative and a would rate MC Heating and Cooling as one of the best firms I have worked with. I got a new Mitsubishi Heat Pump w/ air handler and multiple zones installed in my house with asbestos abatement and re-deducting all the vents since they were all several decades old. MC gave me a very reasonable quote and worked very well with me in figuring out which equipment would be best for my house and use case and then came in as did the job exceptionally well. Great job. Apparently the initial installer didn't do a good job. It's two speed furnace but we had been using on the low speed all this time. No wonder the house got heated up so slow. Our very old furnace finally gave out so we called a company to come out and provide alternatives to fixing vs replacing it. After charging us $200 just for that visit (which would NOT be applied to any future work), they said they would send us a proposal. Three days later we still hadn't heard a word from them. I called and they said they were still waiting for their vendor to respond. I considered it very poor customer service that they hadn't updated us during those three days so I called MC. I was pleasantly surprised that Miguel was able to come out within an hour of my call. He discussed the alternatives with us and provided us with an estimate within 20 minutes of leaving our house! Not only that, within an hour, the new furnace was being installed! Everyone we interacted with during this project was professional, warm, friendly, positive and efficient. Miguel helped me during a major remodel in 2012 - he was very thorough and practical. I had received bids from several contractors with BIG proposals telling me how great everything would be.
