Carmen was very responsive and came out as soon as my home warranty company assigned my furnace claim to him. The problem was intermittent (and of course didn't happen while he was on site) but he was able to give me a couple of tips to try if it happened again, plus he was kind enough to tell me to call him directly if needed. Well, two weeks later, after it started blowing cold air again, I tried the tips - to no avail, unfortunately - so I gave Carmen a call. He came back out and found that the issue had progressed to where he was able to make a firm diagnosis. He submitted his report to the warranty company and they authorized the repair, so as soon as the parts came in, he came back out and had the furnace working within 20 minutes! Carmen is a pretty personable guy. We worked with his business to install air and update our heating and ducting. They recommended we install a second return upstairs that they never came to do. We followed up multiple times over the years and they scheduled to come and would not show. We have also had significant air leaking under our house multiple times. It seems the ducts were never properly installed or sealed. They have once again shown to be unreliable in coming to fix what they said is theirs to maintain if there are issues. Today they failed to come fix it again and hung up on me when I called to check. I don't recommend the business - they seem great and are eager and timely to do a costly install, but will not show up to fix mistakes or maintain. read more

Surprised to see all the great reviews here. Only 8 years after replacing our system did we realize how badly this job was done. We got in touch with them in 2013 because they were recommended by our home warranty company. Musial gave us a competitive quote, but the system never worked right. Some rooms too cold, some too hot. Despite requesting him to come fix the airflow, he always made excuses and never did. About 5 years after the system was installed, the blower fan went out. He came by and suggested we use a rebuilt fan. Took 10 days but saved some $ and fixed it. This was three years ago. Now I learned why the fan gave out so early. Return duct was completely undersized. I've been getting the system addressed lately and have found many issues: 1. Ducts that Musial installed are leaking 32%. See photos. 2. They installed 40% of what's actually needed for return air. No wonder the blower died. Had a HVAC contractor who is a friend add more return air. 3. Air flow is totally messed up through the house. My new HVAC guy told me the ductwork is incorrectly sized. Too expensive to fix. Address with dampers and move on. 4. Poor quality return air grille that literally fell off. They never came to replace it. 5. Incorrect distribution (ductwork) sizing. Overall a terrible job. Saved $2000 up front. Paid $4000 in energy excess bills and $3000 since to repair. Be careful and get someone who will do a good job. read more

Musial's was recommended and then required by my home warranty company. I had no choice but the real challenge was the home warranty company. Musial came out promptly and did a quote/job report for the warranty company. Then HELP me bug the warranty company for approval. Once with approval, they worked quickly, accurately, and a great guy to work with. Totally helpful, knowledgeable and willing to do the job with the warranty company completing the payment. It is not surprising that Musial Heating and Air has 50 reviews with almost all being 5 stars. You will not find an HVAC company with an owner more committed and honest than Carmen. Moving from Berkeley to Fremont last year, I knew that I wanted to put air conditioning in the house. Carmen put in our AC, upgraded our heater and added a vent in a room addition. All before we moved into the house, for a fair price and with amazing service. Carmen made sure we knew how to operate it and that we knew how to change the filter (yes, I was not aware, smile). This week I was incredibly grateful to Musial Heating and Air as my family came over to enjoy the AC during this brutal heatwave. [UPDATED] Updating my review to 1-star since this company also is dishonest and full of liars.... I told my home warranty company that this HVAC company didn't unblock my AC drip pan drain and tried to diagnose a different problem that costs more to fix and isn't covered by my home warranty. My home warranty contacted the company to ask about them not fixing my clogged drain pipe and they lied and said they blew out the pipe. So updating to be 1-star since they are extremely unprofessional for lying that they fixed the problem. It's unfortunate that dishonest and shady businesses operate and this happens to be one of them. ____________ My AC drip pan was not draining the condensation water properly. I really just needed someone to unblock the drain pipe of my drip pan by blowing air or water down the pipe to unclog it. I didn't want to do it myself, so decided to pay the fee for my home warranty to get someone to do it for me. My home warranty company paired me up with this company. They were very professional and quick to schedule time to visit my home. The guy showed up within the stated timeframe. However, that's when the trouble started... the guy just looked at my AC unit and started saying all these changes I should make to my AC unit, which would cost hundreds of dollars and isn't covered by my home warranty. I'm sure what he said was all valid points, however he did not even fix my actual problem! And then he left without the fixing the problem at all!!! So I wasted my money and time waiting for a guy to show up, try to sell me his service and products, without fixing what I paid him to do! read more

I have to say, the level of service that this company provides to their clients is unmatched by any of the competitors out there. They go above and beyond, and have the best staff in place. Our AC unit stopped producing cool temperature air, so we gave this place a call and within an hour they had someone out. Donavan was able to determine the problem and fix it within minutes. He then educated us on how to properly care for our AC and gave us some helpful tips that we are now implementing. I was trying to look up who helped us fix our AC unit so that I can make a referral to a colleague and I'm glad I figured it out. Carmen did a wonderful job and didn't "recommend that we replace our entire unit" like two other companies had done so. Unprofessional, bad service and totally uncooperative. The guys literally yells at the customer and refuses to do their job. We got this provider from our home warranty. I was waiting for their call to schedule appointment but no luck. I finally called them and the lady mentioned appointment available in 1 week but will call as she was driving. I wait for the call but received none. Next day i called them and they gave me an appointment 2 weeks after. Well understand the COVID situation and fair enough. They come and service the unit. I was not able to verify since I was not home. When I got a chance to check the heater was not blowing hot air and it turned off every 20 mins. So I call them again and they start making all kinds of excuses to not come - did you check filter, are the vents covered, etc. Aren't they suppose to do all this? Then they start yelling at me and threatening to charge another $75 if they found the unit was working. Sorry but I have no time in inviting you for passing time. I should've submitted this review 5 years ago. My plumber recommended Carmen/Musial's to me. Anyway, five years ago, I wasn't getting any heat upstairs. Carmen determined that the zone 1 heater damper was bad. He ran out and got a new one and replaced the broken damper with the new one. Problem solved, the repair cost was fair as well. He also suggested that zone 2 downstairs damper would probably go bad soon. I decided to hold off on replacing that one. 5 years later, I'm not getting any heat down stairs. Called Musial's Heating & Air again and they came out. At first he thought a zone board went bad, which he swapped out. But the problem still occurred after the board swap. Then he determined the downstairs zone damper finally gave out. He did a temporary fix to allow heat to flow downstairs till he came back in a couple days with the new damper. Replaced the broken one with the new one and everything's fine again. Musial's service is outstanding. If you have any heating or AC problems, call these guys. Carmen and his team are top notch professionals who have very competitive rates. I had actually hired another provider (where I patiently waited for HVAC unit for 2.5 month and got tired of their excuses). Carmen came in had an opening and installed an equivalent unit in two weeks (from quote to installation). His team show up on time, wore masks, ensured our carpets were kept clean and were friendly. At the end, they tested all equipment, walked me through basics - work they completed, how to adjust air flow through ducts, changing filters, using thermostat, etc. Top of my list for any HVAC needs. read more

I'm late in reviewing this business. I came upon an invoice from 2016 as they repaired our HVAC. American Home Warranty had sent another repair company that was clearly a rip-off so I called Musial's. He was prompt, professional, and thorough. Rather than the $850 bill I was looking at for a "bad circuit board" I paid $60 to repair a wire. Assuming the staff is the same, I would recommend them. read more

My home HVAC was pretty old, almost 2 decades. Called me home warranty and schedule appointment with Musial's HVAC company. Carmen came in right on time, although I got the heads-up from the company prior to his arrival. Problem statement was AC unit push out cold air for a minute and half and eventually shuts off. Carmen did some quick diagnosis and I believe he figured out quickly it's the start up unit capacitor which appears to got disfuncional and that was causing the motor to shutdown after normal startup. Carmen (owner) replaced with the new capacitor part and boom the AC is now running with chilled air for last 20+ minutes without any stoppage. I asked Carmen while diagnosis that if compressed chilled air PSI needs check bc and he sensed the chilling pipe and by temperature with condensation process, Carmen confirmed unit is absolutely fine. Carmen was very Right and this only comes from his last 27 years of super duper clinical work experience. I strongly recommend Carmen and Musial's HVAC company for all your AC & Heater needs. Unfortunately, he arrived almost 30 minutes after the 2-hour appointment window I was given, otherwise I would have given 5 stars. After First American Home Warranty could not help us since they were backed up on requests, we contacted Musial last minute when our heater went out and we were on vacation. Our friend who was house-sitting let us know it was not working. Fortunately, we had a lock box on the door for our guest who was staying in our home. We provided Carmen with the code to get in and he let us know our heater was fixed the same day we called him! It was a simple igniter issue. The integrity of this man was amazing, since we literally would have paid anything to get it fixed. When we asked how we should pay, he let us know not to worry until we came back home. Our heater kept going off and had few HVAC pros come and do the work. The heater was fixed temporarily but the root cause was never fixed and it continue to turn off. Our home warranty sent us Musial ad they spent total of less than 30 minutes in two visits and the heater is not going off again. I will be calling these guys for any HVAC issues going forward. read more

Musial is one of the best Hvac technician I ever encountered, Called him because when I was installing nest to my new home, i accidentally burnt off the fuse in the furnace, instead of charging me $75 to come and fix it, Musial explained to me how to fix it step by step told me where i should be getting parts, and where should i be fixing, I was bothering him till 21:00 pm on a sunday night, he was nice and helpful to guide me how to fix it. without charging me a dime!! Summary: Didn't follow through on agreement and misrepresented himself and the services he could provide. Details: I hired this guy to come in and replace my heater and move it from my closet to the attic. His team came out on November 12, 2013 and I was charged $3,600. What I got was a different brand heater than I was quoted, he didn't have an inspector come out to look at the job, and he didn't complete the job and I don't have a light in the attic. My attic is now not up to code, because he didn't complete the installation of a light in the attic that is required when you install a heater. I'm now having to find someone else to install the light and I'm being quoted $400 for the work. He also agreed to do work on the closet, install new drywall, paint, carpet, and add shelves in order to make it functional. I called numerous times to get him to come out and he gave me excuse after excuse and never even got started on the job. He agreed to do this additional work for $500-$600, but I ended up just having someone take care of it last week and it cost me $1,400. There is nothing worse in business than when someone misrepresents themselves and doesn't complete the job. He said whatever he needed to say in order win my business, but he fell short in almost every aspect of his dealings with me. I've reported him to the Better Business Bureau and he has not yet responded. Stay away!! read more

My service took place on 12/18/08. We wanted to find out why we weren't getting decent heat in throughout the vents in our home and they sent out Carmen. Nice enough guy who looked at our system and said that the layout of the pipes from the heater to the vents in the house was like a jigsaw puzzle and it would need to be redone. I asked him to please write up an estimate of how much it would cost to get this done so we can get evenly distributed heat, instead of having to blast the heater, leave all the bedroom doors open at all times in order for the heat to reach them. It is now February 2nd...still waiting. Not even a phone call and we're going to another company. read more

I have to stick up for Musial's. I see they got a 2-star here, which is unfortunate because I think they are a lot better than most other HVAC companies I have dealt with. Last summer they installed a new HVAC system for me, and to be honest at first it didn't work properly, and they were a little reluctant to admit all the extra work that had to be done (installing new vents plus a new warm air return). It was understandable, since it was going to be a lot of extra work they hadn't counted on. But in the end, they agreed it really needed to be done in order for the system to work properly, and they came back and did it. It took 2 guys a whole extra day of work, but they didn't charge me an extra dime, as the original contract said they'd install any new ducting needed. It is getting harder and harder to find workers who are willing to make things right, and these guys made it right. A year later my new system is working great. Thanks Carmen at Musial's! read more
