    The ordering counter
    Susan C.

Stopped in on a cold rainy afternoon for a bowl of soup. An employee brought me broccoli cheddar minutes after I ordered at the counter. It came with 2 kinds of crackers and in a paper bowl with a metal spoon. Yum! It was steaming hot just how I prefer, l and it warmed my bones on the cold day. McAllister offers 5 kinds of soup and costs $4.99 for a cup and $6.99 for a bowl.

Sad really for the price for so little an item is old.

Salads were made with wilted lettuce. Too little time to try again. Sad for the cost.

This is a walk in, order, and they bring to your table place. You can also scan the code at the table and order and they will bring it out. First time here. It was clean and the cashier was friendly. I had the Savannah salad and the cherry lemonade & hubby had The spicy southwest chicken sandwich with a soda. And of course I got a chocolate chip cookie and a sugar cookie! The salad was flavorful, dressing was really good and on the side. The chicken sandwich was good too. The Jerry lemonade was ok. The cookies were great! I thought it was going to be more like an actual deli but it's like a Panera Bread type restaurant. We enjoyed the food and will return.

My wife and Inwere looking for a sandwich shop on a cold rainy day while running errands. We thought this might be the new spot for a day like that. Boy were we wrong. Not going to sugar coat this- this place is trash. It's nice that you can order half of any meal and combine two items to make one meal. It's nice they serve you at the table. It's not nice the chicken and lettuce was completely frozen and the French dip was undercooked and cold. The only way to get the French dip hot was to dip it in the sauce... which was also luke warm. The cheddar soup has two pieces of broccoli in it. I'm sorry- I'll never be back.

We stopped in for a quick bit to eat for lunch. The cashier was polite and friendly. The diner had every other table blocked to practice social distancing. Our food only took about 5 minutes to arrive at our table. I ordered half soup and sandwich. I noticed my sandwich was missing bread on one side. I had to borrow some of my husband's bread to have a complete sandwich.

Poor excuse for a four cheese sandwich with tomato

Well I know why they are not busy. Staff can't be interrupted by you wanting to order food. Then food comes and it is not right. A four cheese melt has four cheese and tomato. Sent the sandwich back because the one piece of cheese was melted off the edge and there was no tomato. The remade sandwich spent too long in the microwave and the bread was hard. Plus no pickle! The potato soup was good.

She knows the menu like the back of her hand--seriously, she's tried every combination imaginable and helped us decide between a couple options. Her recommendations were spot on. I ended up getting the Oh Boy half sandwich, and I love that you can order it as a half. I was torn between that and the Tuscan chicken, but I would order the Oh Boy again in a heartbeat. I also had the pasta salad with both ranch and tahini--such a great option because you always want to try more than one dressing! We tried the Southwest salad too, and it was perfect with the chipotle ranch. Another really cool thing is that you can buy their dressings or hummus to go, which I'll definitely be doing next time. I also had a mocktail that was super fresh and felt really clean--kind of like their version of a spicy margarita, and it was delicious. Overall, great food, great options, and amazing service. Next time I'm coming back for brunch (which is only on Saturdays and Sundays)!

Ambience was meh with lousy (loud) acoustics. I could easily hear the crying babies from across the restaurant as well as the conversations from surrounding tables. Our food was fine. I opted for a sandwich and my wife had an appetizer for her meal. We probably would have opted for something more substantial but... The prices for pizza here are outrageous. On the menu there are several 14 inch pizzas that are priced OVER $40!!! Give me a break, I can go down the street and get a 3-course steak dinner for $39.99 at a really nice restaurant. Yes, I know that management will probably respond to this review crying about rising costs. There's just no way to justify a 14 inch pizza that costs close to $50. You are going to price yourself out of existence.

However, I found this place on Yelp close to my hotel and may have found my new favorite BBQ! I truly enjoyed the slow smoked meats and the zesty TN BBQ sauce. Meats were tender and juicy, not dry or overcooked at all. Sauce was fantastic and the sides were spot on. The complimentary biscuits were even better than I was hoping. Dining area was clean and service was fast and courteous. I don't know if all TN BBQ is this good but Jim 'N Nick's was spot on tonight! I'm glad I dragged a coworker with me to also enjoy the meal and she also loved the food. Keep it up. Not sure how often I'll be in Knoxville but next time, I'll surely be back.

I went in thanks to the vegan chef challenge in March 2025. This is a small, local non-chain…read morebusiness located in West Town Mall near the food court area that opened last fall. First, you should know, this is definitely NOT a vegan place, but there are some yummy vegan options for plant-based / vegan eaters who happen to be at the mall or are with a crowd who love BBQ. Keep reading (or skim down) for info on the meat products. The two vegan protein options are both soy-based. Then they are seasoned as either "chicken" or "beef." The beef flavored option was tasty, but the texture was a bit "meh." Only 3-4 stars for that. However I chatted with the owner and suggested he consider smoking the soy product, which would help considerably. As for sides, I chose the green beans, which are also vegan, as well as the vegan version of their baked beans. The green beans were fine ... basic green beans. Nothing special - cooked like a typical southern style cut green beans, just without any meat. The baked beans though ...!!! They are the reason for the 5 stars along with the house-made sauces here- more on those in a bit. These vegan baked beans y'all - SO GOOD! They are **SPICY** sweet with just the right amount of tang. The sauce is thick and the beans are perfectly cooked and seasoned. If you don't mind a little burn with your beans these are a MUST! (My mouth is still tingling an hour later!). I was the only customer in the place, so I sat at the counter and chatted with the owner a bit. He told me his "regular" baked beans are made with pork and a healthy dose of brown sugar. The potato salad is a mustard-style potato salad. And apparently there is an "all meat" dish that comes with heaping portions of ALL the meats, and no sides. They have brisket every day in addition to chicken, pork, and sausage. The menu is small, and if you like greens, ask for them. They aren't on the menu. Even though it's in the mall, this place has a modified smoker in the kitchen and so all their meats are smoked daily with hickory. Next, can we talk about the house-made BBQ sauces? There are just two. They are both tomato based sauces: their house sauce, which is mild, and the hot sauce. The hot sauce is probably more of a medium heat so you definitely won't burn your face off. In fact, the vegan baked beans are spicier. But these sauces have a nice blend of tang and sweetness, with just the right viscosity- thick but easily pourable. Really nice. It's a small place but there are a few tables and some seating at the bar (see the photos). On the counter you'll see the traditionally baked cookies. They have lemon, strawberry, chocolate, red velvet, and the owner's favorite, orange. If you're looking for an alternative to the chain BBQ places around, this is a good option. When you go in, tell the owner you saw this review on Yelp. He doesn't think he'll get much business from here. As a long-time Yelper, that makes me laugh. I would never have gone in there if it wasn't for the vegan challenge promoting them. I don't go to the mall much and this place is worth the visit.

The food is great and the atmosphere is super quaint! Service is amazing!! Left happy and full!read more
