Small Turkey Melt

Another Knoxville staple bites the dust. I haven't been in a year or so, but nothing tastes the same, portions are smaller, and the prices are through the roof. So so so tired of this happening to all our great restaurants.

BISCUIT SCRAMBLED EGG SMOKED CHEDDAR GRAVY w/ BENTON'S BACON

Started our Sunday with brunch at Tomato Head, it had been a while. A good crowd but not enough to create a wait. Our server was good and the everything taste great. I can't get over dropping $20 on biscuit & gravy. Yes, there's a little bacon there and an egg but come on...

Huevos Rancheros

Added a little Benton's Bacon to this dish. This is a great pairing and presentation of a simple dish. The sauce added only a slight heat to the Tex-Mex dish. This wasn't overly filling and made for a great afternoon meal or late brunch. Definitely one of my favorite Huevos Rancheros that I've ordered.

Kimchi soup was good and not spicy at all. Came w bread.

Fresh sandwiches, a bit small but had alfalfa sprouts which was good. Kimchi soup was the special which was suppose to be a spicy cabbage soup. Flavor was good but not spicy at all.

Farm to table fresh food and lots of options for gluten free, dairy free, nut free, vegan and vegetarian. Great pizza and ambiance to enjoy the food. Always nice people here and a southern comfort!

The calzones are huge and amazing, they seem pricey. But you are definitely getting your moneys worth. Also I love the tea set up when you ask for it. It's very cute.

#9" #13 Pizza (new combination)

I've been several times over the years and it's always amazing service, but the food can sometimes feel overpriced. This past visit though, WOW. $22 for a personal pizza makes me cringe, I can't lie. But the goat cheese, olives, mushrooms, pesto... the whole #13 pizza was a treat. Absolutely worth the (insane) price. They were also very accommodating for my 1.5 year old and our stroller!

Pizza

I was charged $26 for a 9" pizza. Yeah, I did the make your own, but I apparently didn't realize that tomatoes were going to be $3.25 and pesto and walnuts were nearly $3 each. This is outrageous for a 9" pizza, to be honest. The pizza is barely the size of my hand! Lower your prices, Tomatohead!

On several visits, we have specifically requested that our garlic cheese bread and salad arrive before the pizza so we can actually enjoy the appetizer and salad course first. Tonight, we again had a very clear conversation about this request, yet everything arrived in the exact opposite order. What was most frustrating was being told that "the pizza comes out when the pizza comes out," as though there is no ability for the front staff and kitchen to coordinate timing. In an open-concept restaurant where the order staff and kitchen are working side by side, it seems like simple communication could easily solve this issue. We truly enjoy the food and want this restaurant to succeed, but proper pacing of a meal is part of good dining service. Appetizers and salads should enhance the experience -- not arrive simultaneously with or after the main course. We hope management will take this constructively because the food deserves service that matches its quality

We got the lunch special, which is a 10 inch pizza and a drink for $15. Very good and the crust had a lot of crunch. Very generous on the toppings. I will be back.

Menus, silverware, napkins and plates are available on a table when you walk in and you order at the counter and pickup at another window. We ordered the massive slice of cheese and pepperoni ($3), cheese sticks ($7), small Caesar salad ($5),and green monster pizza! The order was ready extremely quickly and we dived in - everything was hot and fresh. Kids liked the huge slices of pizza - thin crust. The cheese sticks were amazing - big and fluffy - only about 6-7 in an order but would highly recommend. Pizza was delicious - pesto base with chicken, arugula, feta. We ordered the medium and the pizza was filling. A great stop if you have kids or are craving pizza - lots of different speciality pizzas or you can build your own.

This pizza had all the right combos. The crust was nice and chewy and not too thick. The sauce was tasty and was a proportional amount. There was a generous amount of toppings and everything was very flavorful. The baked potato pizza was a very interesting and tasty combination. I would absolutely recommend it and get it again. Overall this is a great pizza option and I will go back any time we're back in town.

Booths weren't comfortable. We ordered the garlic knots. They were really good. I ordered the two slices of cheese pizza. I wanted to get pepperoni but hearing the put toppings on already cooked cheese pizza.. not worth the price for subpar way to get pepperoni slices. There isn't enough time for the pepperoni to cook and yield it's flavor to the slices. Two cheese slices 5.49. Two topping slices 9.89. Almost double the price. Make that make sense. My spouse decided on the calzone because at least it was made fresh. It was pretty large and filled out the plate. Calzones were 10.99. The flavors and food was not that good to justify the prices. I get that it is a chain restaurant but the slices were what I would expect from a local gas station or grocery store. They definitely weren't nyc style in terms of flavor and uneven thick cheese. The cheese is clearly a blend of varieties. I don't think we will be back for the food. Neither options were hit out the park delicious and it's pricy for the actual value.

The space is cozy with about 4, 4-tops, a few outdoor tables, and a bar along the wall with stools in case you come in for a slice and soda deal at lunch time. We ordered breadsticks, a salad, a thin crust with pepperoni, and a stuffed pizza with sausage. They told us that we couldn't order the thin crust with half no cheese (for our lactose intolerant kiddo who still loves sauce, crust and toppings), as a heads up to anyone with similar dietary restrictions. This is due to the cook time being inconsistent for the cheese versus no cheese sides of the pie. We were asked if we were dining in or ordering to go. We opted to eat there since we live a decent distance away. Our breadsticks and house salad came out first, packed for transport and no plates or silverware were provided. They seemed confused and a bit annoyed when we asked for some. The breadsticks tasted like butter and parm doused funnel cake fries and the salad was fine...served its purpose but nothing special. Our thin crust came out next and was fresh and fabulous. My husband felt like it was a bit more overcooked than when we previously got it. Tons of cheese, slightly sweet sauce and crispy pepperoni. It is cut into squares. Lastly, our stuffed pizza came out. Again, no pie server given and we needed one desperately for the thick and gooey pizza. We waited awhile to get our requested pie utensil and then struggled to cut the pieces with our thin plasticware. The pizza was extremely fresh and tasty, however! If you are wondering what the difference is between the deep dish and stuffed, the stuffed is almost like a pizza sandwich. One pizza crust on bottom, toppings, and then another thin crust on top of those before spreading a thin layer of sauce. The crust is thicker than on a deep dish, too. I am sure that we will get pizza here again at some point, but never ever will we dine in. The trash was overflowing, every table wobbly and in need of cleaning, and unfortunately very uninviting service. They seemed quite miserable.
