I should've listened to the reviews and went the other way. I love McAlister's but for some reason this location has the worst customer service and food quality. The cashier was rude, then they ran out of sweet tea my husband couldn't fill his cup. Even after we kept telling them it was empty. My kids macaroni was cold we sent it back then 10 mins later they brought it back out and it was still COLD! The kitchen staff was arguing with a customer about a forgotten item, instead of listening to she argued back and forth which was very unprofessional. I'm typically a fan of McAlister's but this location left some things to be desired. My party of 2 stopped here for a quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered and received our food fairly quickly. I was disappointed in the sweet tea. It was very bland and didn't taste like the sweet tea that I had grown to love years ago. My club sandwich was dry and there wasn't much meat on it. The other guest had a turkey sandwich and the same complaint, not enough meat. Update I finally got a hold of a manager, and they took care of me but still two days in a row bad service. I'm gonna be nice when I get this review if you do not like working with public don't work at a restaurant I went in there yesterday place to order at the wrong order. They said they would replace it. No issue come back today to get the rest of my order in order something else well, I didn't get a receipt and I told them about the Missing item from yesterday. It took almost 30 minutes. I still didn't get all of my order I had to ask for the rest of my order the young lady that was took my order was extremely rude. I asked for a receipt I gave you the receipt. I said no ma'am you did not give me a receipt. I like to use the points I gave you the receipt I said no ma'am where is your receipt at? I said ma'am you did not give me a receipt then I still had to wait for the rest of my order from yesterday. You know when I get good service, I'll let you know well obviously y'all don't need my business so don't plan on coming back. I shouldn't have to beg for my receipt and then she tells me oh I don't know how to pull it up. Well then you should've asked and then you'll come chasing me out the door. Yesterday, after another botched meal, my husband asked why I keep ordering from McAlister's, prompting this review. This McAlister stays busy despite the poor reviews, which it more than earns. Yesterday I ordered food for quick pick up (most common for us). The food was ready on time, but there was no silverware/napkins in the bag. As I approached the counter to get utensils, two employees were arguing about one employee being left alone at the register. That employee had a face mask below her nose. They ignored me for a minute until I interjected. I got home and the chips for our "shareable nachos" were nearly all crumbs (not big enough to pinch, let alone load with toppings) and I discovered they'd forgotten our salad dressing. The last time I ordered the food was put under the wrong name (inverting my last initial to my first name and first initial to my last name) creating a major "who's on first" scenario, which took forever to resolve. The visit before my food wasn't ready on time and subsequently had a hair in it. Things just NEVER seem to go well at this restaurant. There's never a "quick pick up" but rather a "pick up and negotiate." So it's no surprising that my husband, the most chill guy I know, would be fed up. The food is actually pretty good when it's right, but honestly the only reason I eat here at this point is its proximity to my house. There is opportunity to make this restaurant great with a little more focus on quality assurance, they just need the right leader to reach their potential. read more

I've eaten here a number of times with coworkers. I'm not usually a fan of the chain but found myself craving a sandwich and finally found some stuff I am fond of. I like this location best of the ones I've been to as the decor is really neat and varies wall to wall. The serving guy who brings your food is very friendly and animated and fun to watch. What I ended up liking was the choose two salad and sandwich. I found I liked the Italian here almost as much as I like the one at Firehouse Subs, if that's even possible. The Southwest Cobb Salad was delightful as well. They have a bunch of different dressings to choose from but Chipotle Ranch worked well on it. I recently had wanted to try some Mcalister's food again since I was in the area and also heard about the new remodel they had recently gone through. I was excited to see if they had added anything new to the menu as well and as I was ordering I noticed that someone who appeared to be the manager was intoxicated with something. He seemed as though he had been drinking as he was talking with a slur and kept showing off a brown paper bag in the kitchen with only what I can assume was alcohol. He appeared pretty young so I hope to assume that he isn't drunk. I also spotted someone using what seemed to be a marijuana vape but I'm not sure. Unfortunately, I could not get a name for the supposed employees. Overall, I am not happy with my experience today and will not return to this location anytime soon. read more

Asked someone to look for my order and after she looks around some she tells me to go look in the box - the online or call-in order box- I went there and there was my order. Disappointed at the start of the order. When I got there at 7:18 pm I was one of one waiting to order. I did not get to place my order under 7:43 pm as my receipt told me what time I paid. The girl at the register could not get the order right after repeating it back 5 times. In between her sweeping the floor and taking to the kitchen staff. After finally ordering I asked about how long "she stated 15 min". I left left to store and went to the SuperLo store in Southaven right in the same parking lot. According to my receipt I left the store at 8:07 pm. Headed back to the Deli only to have the person that ordered before me still waiting and myself still waiting for another 35 min. For a 1//2 chicken salad sandwich, 1/2 southwest chicken, 2 soups (sides) and a fresh fruit. Only to get home and the order to be wrong. Called the store to let them know of course no answer. We stopped here at this location because we knew McAlister's started in Southaven, MS. Of course this is not the original location. We stopped in on our way home from Memphis on a Sunday. We got there just in time before the after church crowd starting pouring in. I ordered the new chicken chipotle ranch and bacon stuffed baked potato. The potato was massive and stuffed with a lot of grilled chicken, bacon, chives, and covered with melted cheese and chipotle sauce. It was delicious. I'm sorry scrumptious. My husband ordered the chicken club sandwich which is his go to. He loves a good club sandwich. It is quite large in portion as well. Okay, where do I start? When I lived in Southaven, this was one of my go to lunch spots. The parking lot has trees on the eastern side and the view is a nice slice of nature. The outdoor seating area is on the eastern side of the restaurant and is nicely shaded by the restaurant itself from opening until closing which makes for a pleasant outdoor eating experience. I stopped eating here when they removed carrot cake from their menu. I took it as a slap in the face that they did so to their customers since it was a highlight of dining there. I never got an explanation from them after inquiring. I stopped into the McAlister's in Collierville and saw that carrot cake was again on the menu after not patronizing the restaurant chain in quite some time. After dropping my fur baby off at Groomingdales, I decided to eat lunch at McAlister's. Food was great as I remembered but there is one area that is not up to the standards that I attributed to the restaurant in the past: customer service. I entered the restaurant at 10:45AM and it was not yet crowded since opening only 15 minutes prior. I sat down at an inside table and my meal arrived 6 minutes later. Good so far. I ate half my sandwich and used the two napkins that were left in the napkin dispenser before it was empty. I looked around and all the napkin dispensers around me were empty as well. I put my empty sweet tea cup with the lid askew on the edge of my table to signal a refill was desired. There was a young man with a McAlister's shirt on patrolling the restaurant incessantly on the lookout for tables that needed bussing. Since none did, apparently his duties were fulfilled since he passed me 6 times and did not inquire if I needed anything after I had ceased eating due to lack of beverage and clean napkins. I finally stopped him on his 7th pass to ask him if he worked here. He said he did. I asked him if the policy was still to refill drinks for dine-in customers and he said it was. I requested a tea refill and a to go container since I had napkins at home. In times past these events would never have transpired in this restaurant. I wrote this review sitting in the restaurant and observed no change in the customer service during my composing. Sad to see what the restaurant was known for, customer service, is now absent. Also their sweet tea was arguably the best in the city in times past. There must have been a newbie on "Tea Duty" that day because it was okay but not the excellent brewed tea I remember. read more

The restaurant was out of spuds!!! Let me further explain the issue. Once I approached the cashier to order, I was quickly informed that the restaurant was out of spuds, however there was a young lady that came in after me that ordered a spud and her cashier went to confirm with the manager (who was in the kitchen area) if she could sell the customer a spud since it was a single spud. I overheard one of the cooks say I have a spud but the manager quickly interrupted and said I'll let you know when we are selling spuds again! My only gripe with McAlister's in general (not specifically this one) is that they have little on their menu that is gluten free. Nor (to my knowledge) do they have a pamphlet explaining what potentially could be left off to make it gluten free. Like the salads, all of the salads were not marked gluten free. Something that usually is gluten free. What's on them that makes them not gluten free? Can I take them off? No option for gluten free bread that MANY other chains have begun to offer for a small up charge which I would be absolutely happy to pay. Jersey Mike's and Jason's deli both offer gluten free bread by Udi's. So, I asked a person working the register and they said they weren't sure and didn't ask anyone who might. So, she recommended getting one of the potatoes which I did like. The potato was good and the portion was awesome for the price. Just disappointed in the lack of options at McAlister's when so many others have made strides to get their food in hands of customers with dietary needs. 3/5 would recommend to someone with food allergies/sensitivity. 4/5 for someone without. read more

I've been eating at McAlister's for years. Just had the worst experience ever. Ordered the 4 cheese melt sandwich. It's supposed to be made with 4 kinds of cheeses and tomato. There were 2 slices of cheese, no tomato and it tasted like it had been microwaved= slightly stale and chewy. To top it off, the box and the bag that were handed to me smelled like an old used ashtray. I thought it was just the young man that handed it to me, but when I got it home, I could still smell it. This is one of my favorites!! The past few experiences have been a little less than stellar, though. Today I ordered online like I usually do, but it would not let me submit the order. I called in the order instead, no big deal. When we got there my husband went in and paid and waited about 20 minutes for our food. He could see an order bagged up and put to the side but no one ever called for him or placed it on the counter. He had to get back in line and wait to ask if it was ours. We got all the way back home and part of the order was missing and what we did have wasn't the quality we normally see here. Obviously going all the way back was not an option.
