First time at this location, slow service and they messed our orders up, had to remake the sandwich. Lady next to us got the wrong salad. Restaurant was filthy inside. Ordered a Southwest Chicken and Avocado salad. They replaced the chicken with what they claim was a "substitute chicken product" without even informing me. Budding lunchmeat would have been a step up from what that product was. This quote above was directly from the Area Manger's email in response to a survey they sent me. Watched two other tables get refunds while we were there. Didn't ask for money back or have a desire for a free meal. Just want them to get their act together. Geniuses there sent me a survey about the experience. I answered it honestly. Received a reply from the Area Manager lecturing me that the survey is "This portal was built for positive feedback and to address issues." So if you don't want constructive criticism then only allow 5 star responses and nothing else. Love McAlister's but the Springfield IL Dirksen Parkway location is terrible. Really sad. A panera of the Midwest but better quality food in ways. Sometimes you want panera with out the froo froo. Unlimited refills on massive drinks. Was great to have unsweetened tea for the road.... Horseradish cheddar roast beef, but got it with turkey and in marble rye. They beautifully roasted the eye without my asking (something I overlooked thinking about when ordering a warm sandwich). And it comes with a real side - besides bread, apple, chips. Incredibly fast, and friendly service. read more

Came in on a Sunday early evening in search of a quick meal. There was a sign on the door saying that they were short staffed, but we entered anyways because there was absolutely no one in the dining room so we assumed it wouldn't take long for two orders. Unfortunately we will not be back to this restaurant. The food was mediocre for the price and the restaurant was dirty/unkept as we searched for a single clean table to sit down after ordering. read more

Food is decent, but it takes forever to get the food as they're always so behind on orders. This is the second time I go here this week since I'm staying at a nearby hotel for a conference and have experienced this both times. It's clear that the staff work hard to ensure everything gets done, so it may just be lack of support from management. But, today I got a "Choose 2" meal with a sandwich and soup, and when was eating my sandwich, choked on a small toothpick that was lodged in the club sandwich. I remove all toothpicks before eating so this definitely caught me off guard. Luckily I made myself cough the toothpick out before I swallowed it and something worse could've happened, but I definitely won't be coming back, which is disappointing since this is the only place within walking distance that serves healthy food. read more

Not well managed and doesn't even compare to the one in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The presentation of the food may have be part of the reason the taste is just a bit off. This is our third time here and they have yet to get our order completely correct. The staff is friendly for the most part. There is an outdoor seating area but NO outdoor trash receptacles- strange indeed. Usually we can depend on the sweet tea being good and cold. Today it was only slightly sweet and the ice had melted before we got back on the interstate. I think we will have to find another stop for our travel through Springfield read more

A friend recommended this restaurant and I am so glad that we took his advice. We found a great variety on the manu bit it wasn't overwhelming. The food is fresh and tasty. The service is fast and friendly, even when we needed a few minutes to navigate the menu. We found it to be a good value for the buck. We have been recommending it. read more

LOVE! It's new so the service is understandably slow right now, but the service is still friendly and bearable! There's a ton of seating and the menu is amazing. The salads are HUGE which is my favorite. The soups could be better, but who needs soup when you have SPUDS! The veggie and grilled chicken spud are bomb. PLUS FREE WIFI. So I can study. The only thing that would make it better is a self service drink fountain. read more

Had a chicken Caesar salad wrap with coleslaw and my boyfriend got the French dip sandwich with potato salad. The wrap was huge and tasty. The salad was super crisp and it was lightly dressed with the salad dressing. I took one bite of the coleslaw and had to spit it out, it tasted off. The French dip sandwich was AMAZING. If I ever go again I will get that instead of the wrap. The potato salad was great, too. read more

The West location is way better. This location is slow, and always dirty everytime I go in. The orders are never complete. Missing items on sandwhiches and they aren't cooked thoroughly. Order the same meal at west location and food is great! The eating establishment out west is always clean. The cashier's act as if they don't want to be there, and don't care how you receive your food! Customer service is aweful! Upon entering this location, there is an odor! Good luck! read more

Such a disappointment and decision in coming here. Was so looking forward to trying the new Black Cherry Ham sandwich and after waiting 25 minutes for my order and driving home, found BBQ chicken instead. With waiting that long, I would expect my order to be correct. On top of that, the person who brought out my food had no idea where I was, as the window didn't mark my location on the receipt. Normally I this deli. We were traveling through Springfield on our way home and decided to stop. Bathrooms had no paper towels so when I went up to order I mentioned that to the cashier. My husband told the same for the men's restroom. We ordered and watched several people come out of the restroom wiping their hands on their shirts or shaking them off. NOBODY made any effort to supply the paper towels. Another woman walked up and told them the same thing I had about 10 minutes prior. The food was good but the customer service stinks. I washed my hands behind a woman who was an employee. Figured she would refill the dispenser but no. Later saw her delivering food to customers. The person who took our order seemed annoyed to be working and the girl who delivered our food practically threw the food at us and walked away. This has not been my experience at other McAllister's. Customer service training is needed at this location. It's a good chain but if you hire employees who clearly don't care it will turn people off. read more
