I travel a lot for work and have been to McAlisters Deli before. That being said I'm giving it 5 stars based on the politeness and customer service. We were on the road and wanted something we knew, with only one cashier the line most if the time we were there was to the door. Our food came out quickly but out of 4 people one one was actually correct. However, the food did taste good. I'm guessing they were running short staff. We would give them another try if we were through there and hungry. read more

Once again I have given Mcalisters Deli here in St.Joseph,Mo another chance. Unfortunately they fairer no better than my last review almost 2 years ago. I called in an order and was told that the food would be ready in 5 to 10 minutes. I told them I was 15 minutes away and not to rush. I get there and go to the to-go line and wait. Somone comes out and says " You waiting for a to-go order or something" I said yes and she proceeds to say well your going to have to get in line over there because we don't serve to-go orders separately any more. Rather rude and inconsiderate. The food comes out and I have to listen to this same employee tell an apparently new employee how to make a sweet Arnold Palmer she proceeds to say " Now you have to add the lemonade first then the tea make sure you don't mix it all together that way they know we did it" because you know how they can be. Rude yet again and in front of all the customers there. CANNOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. Used to love this place. Management needs to fix this read more

I am so thoroughly impressed with the whole experience here. Generally a short wait to order of the many, many items on the menu. The muffaletta is extraordinary (my favorite) and everything comes with a nice side item. Then, it's a minute or two after sitting down that they bring the food to the table. Nice!! The outdoor tables are an extra joy, too because it's one of the few places in town that you can eat outside in the shade of an evening. The food is always good and if there is a problem, they'll fix it fast. The kids meals are dirt cheap as well! read more

Tiny portion sizes, expensive for what you get, would have gotten substantially more across the street in the mall area at 5-Guy Burgers and it would have been more than we needed to a meal. It appeared to me from the stamp on the chips that they were expired, they tried to convince me they were good until the year 2022 because that number at the bottom of the the factory embossed date and time stamp coding had a 22 in it. What a flat out lie, I called the manufacturer of the chips and was told by the manufacturer there is no way possible that any of their products would last even half that long from this point in time. Mcalister's did not even offer a partial refund, they were not very nice, the food was mediocre tasting, and we will never return. What a horrible experience of St. Joseph, MO, if that was the only experience we had there it would be on the list of cities to never go again in a lifetime or longer. Apparently they are too lazy to clear tables as people leave, it looked as if the flies were moving in on some that were on some of the tables quite a while. read more

Feel in love with this place about a year ago and keep finding myself here at least once a month. The staff is incredibly friendly and willing to help. Sometimes it's hard to get someone's attention for a refill, but the place is always busy. The waitress forgot my fork one time and I sat waiting for 30 minutes on it. Trust me I wasn't impressed, but another waitress came along and noticed the problem. She promptly got a fork, offered a complimentary cookie (which was delicious) , and apologized for the inconvenience. Great service. As for the food, I haven't found something I haven't liked yet. read more

My favorite restaurant in St Joe. The staff and food is Fantastic. My one and only complaint, and I can't emphasize this loudly enough. BRING BACK THE LITTLE PLASTIC REFILL CARDS. I have NEVER went in here since you did away with the cards and not had to flag down a worker. Or send my children up for refills. It's not a big deal really. Im not trying to discourage anyone from eating here because It is a great place. You just don't get very many refills. But the food is worth every penny. My wife eats at this restaurant 1-2 times per week for lunch either by herself or with colleagues (her company has 900 employees). After ordering food to go tonight for our 3 children, she realized they forgot my daughters order. She called to inform the store of the mistake and they insinuated the order had to be correct and that she was trying to get free food. Totally inappropriate and unprofessional. The employee was rude when she came back to get the rest of the order. Will spread the word and stop future company orders. read more

When they first opened, we were really excited. "A nice place to get a healthy lunch and salads. " As time went by, we noticed the portions getting stingy, and the service really slacking. They use to serve the salads in cone shaped bowls which were interesting. Now the salads are boring and generic. The sandwiches are thin and it looks like they are holding back on ingredients. Food was ok - the women's bathroom was nothing more than an outhouse. The sink drain was emptying into a white bucket -- plumbing exposed. Nasty -- you expect your employees who prepare the food to use this filthy bathroom and then serve your patrons? read more

I had the choose two. My roast beef on cibatta was lacking in roast beef and horseradish but the soup rocked. Staff was friendly, service was prompt. The sitting area and bathroom need a good deep cleaning. We will be back when we pass thru again. Hope it will be cleaner! read more

I always get good service here. When I call to order the food is always right on time and the correct order. Boyfriend loves the sweet tea. The new Cajun po boy is fantastic!! The service when you walk in the door .... If you don't mind waiting 30 minutes to order and get food, then ok, but why do they only have one server taking your order most of the time, maybe one refilling drinks. I would say the managing of employees is not good-you are turning down 1person for every 2walking in the door because they turn around and leave. I won't be back for lunch ! read more

Travelling I-29 from Texas in Feb, this was a convenient stop just west of the highway. (also close to the motel we stayed in) Our first time but the order-counter staff helped me through getting an evening dinner. Prices were reasonable and the menu had enough choices for us. We got our orders promptly and felt that the quality and value for money was good. read more

This place has some of the worst customer service I have experienced in quite some time!! We called an order in so we could just hop in and pick it up at the pick up register. However when we got there we were told that there is no pick up lane. That in order to pay for food we have already ordered, food that was already finished and waiting for us, we had to get back in line behind 20 people who haven't ordered yet and wait to pay at the regular register. Why is there a pick up lane and 10 minute parking spaces if you can't use it to pick up your order?!?! The manager on duty said they were trying a new idea of first-come-first-served with every order including pick-ups.... Seriously?! EVERY place is first come first served if you walk in the door, but call ins are different for a reason! That's why the pick up lane is separate from the regular registers! What happened to this place??? I've heard from several others that this is a regular occurrence, but no one knows why. read more
