It's true..the wait time was long. Someone had been sitting inside for dine in, 30 mins before my to-go order was placed and they go their food after me too. The store was very lock stock of desserts, lemonades and they were out of a few items. The girl at the register was very nice but they were certainly understaffed. Sadly Hopdoddy which used to be down the other end has closed and now I can see why-- the trash outside was well flowing onto the ground so it doesn't look like it gets well kept attention. Only people here and took a while to get waited on. Ordered a Ruuben. Still the only people in the store. 15 minutes later they come out and say they are out of sauerkraut. Why did it take so long?? Really great experience for my friend as it was his first time. I always like the spud and sandwiches and the soups. There wasn't a long wait for our orders. As of the writing of this I had been waiting for my food for 40 minutes. I ended up here since Chipotle was out of guacamole, sour cream, beans, and a variety of other basis (how does that happen). What a mistake. I should have kept driving. We were on a road trip across the country and this was a huge delay for lackluster food at a premium price. Eventually the food came out and it was low-tier cafeteria quality. The food tasted microwaved and extremely salty. I ended up tossing most of my sandwich. The location was dirty and the staff appeared unhappy, which may be attributed to understaffing since they were quite busy. We ended up going to over to Starbucks and getting a few snacks. read more

I don't know that I've ever had this place before but we went here on a whim after an evening of Trader Joe's grocery shopping. Note: this establishment was closing early at 7 PM instead of it normal 9 PM due to being shortstaffed. We walked in about 630 and they graciously still took our order and the two couples that followed in after us. I tried the veggie spud and it was pretty good. I didn't realize that the peppers on them included jalapeños so were some bites were a little bit spicy where I picked those off. My son had a cheese pizza which was fine and I think my husband enjoyed his club sandwich. I don't know that I would be chomping at the bit to return but it is a nice option to know about. Stopped by this restaurant after a long day and a quick shopping trip to Trader Joe's. It has been years since I visited this restaurant, which used to be in one of the malls here a while back. I always loved their sandwiches! Anyway, I wanted something quick and realized that I had been wanting to try McAlisters again for a while. I ordered the veggie spud and southwest chicken salad from the "Choose 2" menu. The salad was fine, but the baked potato was dry, and the outside was a bit burned. It almost seemed that the potato may have been sitting out all day. As such, not too impressed with the potato at all. I should have paid more attention to the entire order before I left the store; I would have returned it and chosen another side item. But again, long day and just wanted to get home... Still, because I used to love this restaurant, I will definitely give it another try. It helps that the cashier was super friendly! :o) There are so many delicious-looking items on the menu: salads, spuds, sandwiches, soups. I am hoping my next visit will be better! A couple of weekends ago, I did a Pilates class. I hadn't exercised in some time and so I didn't want to ruin the workout. Enter McAlister's Deli. This chain has quite a bunch of healthy options, particularly when it comes to salads. I'm a big fan of their Savannah chopped salad. It consists of cucumbers, diced tomatoes, dried cranberries, Gorgonzola cheese, grilled chicken, honey-roasted peanuts, in a spring mix dressed with sherry vinaigrette on the side. In other words, it's a salad I find myself actually craving. Given that I have their app, as I used to order frequently back in the day when I lived in South Florida, I ordered ahead and went to pick it up. The actual location in Tallahassee is small compared to what I'm used to, but my salad was sheer perfection and hit the spot. Best of all, this salad is less than 500 calories and I didn't ruin my workout. How's that for a win? read more

I have driven by this place hundreds of times leaving Trader Joe's, never paying attention. Today, however, I noticed people walking in and out and decided to give them a try. They're known for their sweet tea and I definitely enjoyed it. It was sweet, but not cloying, give you diabetes sweet. I still added lots of ice, but I was impressed as a sweet tea connoisseur. I also ordered the green goddess salad, which I think is a special. It has a ton of stuff on it; Gorgonzola cheese, avocado , bacon, and more! It came with green goddess dressing, one of my favorites. The salad was also good and quite filling. As a surprise, they were selling limited edition Creamalicious Sweet Tea ice cream, based on their tea. Creamalicious is a Black owned ice cream company that sells ice cream flavored with Southern favorites like pound cake, and ,obviously, sweet tea! I was very excited and bought a pint. Some of the WORST food I've had from here. I've managed two different locations in Mississippi and this was just awful. Ordered a choose two with a pepper jack. We love McAlister's for a perfect little Family lunch spot! On Saturday, they have kids meals for 99 cents - and it makes it the perfect weekend place for us. They have a wall outside where you can draw with chalk, and enjoy the outdoors as you eat your sandwiches. The food is DELICIOUS! We are always so impressed with how fresh the sandwiches are and how much comes on them. The kids love their meals so much and you can't beat that price. If you want delicious food, come here. The Choose 2 is very cost effective and their food offerings are great. That is, if they have what you order. While waiting for our order to be brought to our table, I heard another customer have 2 of their options have to be substituted. We ordered sweet tea, but they were out. An advertising placard AT the register said on 12/16, the day of our visit, you would receive a free cup of tea tree ornament with a $25.00 order. I got that amount plus in food, but was told the ornaments were being "saved"?, but then told there were none in the restaurant. BTW, that placard was still by the register when we left. If you're coming for good service, DON'T COME HERE. There was not a greeting, smile or pleasant tone of voice to be found. I ordered 2 cookies. When the food was brought to our table, I expressed that the cookies were missing. The response? "That's cause you were supposed to get em yourself." This was NOT said with an appropriate tone or attitude when dealing with a customer. In addition, the young man in the back of house preparing the food & passing it through the order window had beautiful, thick, somewhat curly hair. It was NOT in a hair net. I was having a terrible day and decided to take a moment to grab some food, shop around and get groceries. I've heard good things about McAlister's Deli but had never previously gone. Immediately, the vibes were warm and inviting and their menu selection had a large variety to choose from. I ordered a grilled chicken caesar wrap with a side of sea salt chips, a sweet iced tea and a brookie. Everything was delightful and hit the spot. Staff were incredibly nice and the manager came out to check on everyone. I was shocked to see this place only has three stars. A solid deli for a good sandwich on the go! Coming in for a quick bite, we needed something fast, flavorful, and filling. And I would say that we got just that! My cranberry orange club was a nice twist on a classic club and divided into 4 quarters, if you wanted to share the meal at all. I was happy with the flavors, but the sandwich itself is otherwise very simple. I also added the tomato-cucumber salad as my side for a healthier option. I was sitting in an almost empty dining room looking directly into the idle kitchen so I politely disagreed with her. She accused me of being rude and suggested I leave. I left and will never return. This was my first time trying McAlister's and IT WAS AWESOME. We both ordered the soup and sandwich combo. I got the New Yorker and chicken tortilla soup. The half sandwich was ENORMOUS. The meat was so juicy that I needed a napkin. The mustard made it perfection. The chicken tortilla soup was creamy and just spicy enough. The crunch chips on top w the perfect topper. We also got the half king club and broccoli cheese soup. So so soooo good. I can't imagine ever ordering a whole sandwich. I wouldn't be able to finish. The soup (big for being a cup) was creamy and cheesy and delish!!! I would have taken a picture but this was so good that I completely forgot once the food was in front of me. Next time, I'm gonna try the chocolate spoon cake and I will try and control myself long enough for pics! ***update. I have since been back. I've been a fan of McAlister's Deli since I stumbled on my first one in Birmingham in 1998. They have great sandwiches and those giant baked potatoes with great toppings. They also have great sweet tea, but their chocolate spoon cake is the addiction that will keep you coming back. Now that we have a McAlister's right here in Tallahassee, I am in serious dietary trouble. I may carve my own rut in I-10 between N. Monroe and Thomasville Rd. You order at the counter, they give you a number to put on your table stand and then they bring your food to you. They will check on you several times to see if you need drink refills or anything else. For our first visit right after they opened, the service was friendly, efficient and attentive with at least a couple of managers stopping by to ask "how was it". The Yelp map shows them on top of the Starbucks in the shopping center, but they are actually in the corner to the left of TJ Maxx. read more

This is one of the best meals I've had in Tallahassee. I ordered the French Dip with provolone instead of swiss and lettuce and tomato. The bread was great. It had real meat and the au jus was good too. I also ordered the kid spud with bacon and cheddar cheese and a cup of chili. My order was to go. The au jus and chili was not only in containers but also wrapped in Saran wrap to ensure it wouldn't spill. Everything was fresh and hot. I will definitely be back soon. read more

Been going to McAlister's for 25 years. Worst experience by a landslide. Got the impression the company has been sold and going down hill. Don't know that for a fact. Tea was bad and they had no lemons. This was item of pride for McAlister's. Then our food was bland and some plates were missing chips. Server was rude and slow to help when politely pointed out to them. Very sad to see such a great place to eat go down hill. read more
