Came here at my mom's request for her b-day dinner and couldn't have picked a much better place for dinner. Diverse menu and big portions. I had their club and couldn't finish the plate given the size of the sandwich and number of fries. Service was very prompt and we were checked on numerous times. Given the number of people eating (place was jammed) it was nice to get such excellent service. The manager also treated us to a free appetizer and gave the ladies a rose on our way out for Valentine's day. Came here to watch game 1 of the Cubs vs Mets. Medium siZe venue and had tvs everywhere. Right when I entered in the building, I had to wait 3-5 minutes till someone came and seated us. Our server was very prompt and kept checking on us which is good. We ordered the Four Clover appetizer which was big portions for 11$. Could be one meal for one person or maybe between two people. My favorite was the fried mac n cheese bites. We couldn't finish the burgers but I had one and it was really good. Bigger than normal sized sliders. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with waffle fries and it was okay. I think I was assuming it was going to be a crispy spicy chicken sandwich but it was just a chicken patty covered in buffalo sauce. The waffle fries were great. I was amazed on the beers they had on tap. They had three Floyd's yum yum which is hard to find in tap near where I'm from. I bought the $10 for $20 and thought we could use the 20% off appetizer but our server said we could only use one :(. I saw in previous Yelp reviews that the 20% and the $10 for $20 was allowed. They have BINGO on Tuesday and Trivia on Wednesday, so we usually come out for one of the two. The service is always top notch and friendly. I gave this place a few tries. Admittedly I was lured in by some Groupons but that's not a bad thing. Hey they're right down the street, lets give them a whirl. Three times I visited this place and the service was consistently terrible. Food was edible but low quality ingredients slapped together. This was first and foremost a bar, not a restaurant. Ok fine so this is a bar, avoid the food. I thought I'd meet another couple that I hadn't seen in quite some time for drinks in the evening. Food isn't this place's thing. Maybe if we get wasted we can get something to munch on if we're desperate. After maybe 3 hours the four of us only managed to get two drinks each. The second round was because I stood at the bar, nearly empty bar, and asked the bartender to bring us some beers. The funny thing was from our table we could clearly see our waitress toiling about on her phone. Any other waitstaff or bartender was busy talking to some regulars or some personal friend. The service was so bad I could've gotten more booze drinking the individual coffee amaretto creamers at a church sponsored AA meeting. I'm standing there like, "Please take my money." Had no takers. The drinks were super reasonable! It filled up quickly on a Friday night but some tables became available pretty quickly. Love the atmosphere! The food is great , love their chicken wings! Wings are one of the best around for real though. Like the only thing is parking can be a real problem at times from the surrounding businesses and when it is the people are scary crazy and want to be combative. They have wished at me and made comments to me about getting into their ride. I love the staff and the entertainment with food. Mixed Drinks are very on point and good , not watered down at all. Their martinis are really generous and presentable. Deff love coming here with co-workers. They give me exceptional attention. I didn't mention their bread sticks are gorgeous. Pasta is of the hook too and the kids meals are great. This can be a great family or date night. I wish dancing would make a come back! My dad and his friends go here on Wednesday for trivia religiously, I sometimes tag along. Yesterday I had their buffalo chicken wrap and mashed potatoes. Their food is pretty good, it's not great. Although, i really liked my mashed potatoes. We also got the burger sliders appetizer & it was okay but great for sharing, it comes with 6 sliders and all the condiments to add yourself. A friend of ours got the bbq wings and enjoyed them. Our waitress was very sweet but forgot a few things (she could be new) but was very apologetic when we pointed it out. If you like trivia this is a fun one to go to. They always have a wide range of topics and you win a $25 gift card if you win! I also got a 20% off coupon for checking in so that was pretty cool!! We have eaten here many times we like the place but I have to say after last night it may be the last. The rib was dried out and old tasting, the only good part was the sauce it definitely was not cooked the same day. I had the Ruben sandwich for $14 dollars it was worth about $2. It was old and dried out definitely not from a fresh corned beef cooked tbe same day and was almost all bread. The bathroom had no heat or hot water. No more excuses Mcbrides your business is always busy and you are charging top dollar for sub par food. Your business has lost its touch and is going g down hill. read more

After posting my initial review of this place, I received a PM from what appeared to be an owner / manager at the restaurant basically apologizing for the poor service and food we experienced. She asked that we give the restaurant another shot and to please update the review after we dined again. Upon looking at my review again and the other reviews for this restaurant, it seems that "shopper m." is one of the only reviewers who gave this restaurant a 5 star rating. This is also the person who sent me a PM on behalf of the restaurant asking me to update the review. (I would be glad to provide this PM to anyone upon request.) At the time of this writing, "shopper m." has only reviewed one other restaurant, and low and behold it happens to be the other McBride's location in Plainfield. Again, a 5 star "glowing" review from the perspective of a customer. Really disappointing and dishonest way to get the average review rating up. I used to come here to meet friends quite a bit before I moved to the area. They have an awesome outdoor patio and outdoor BAR! Not many places have that! The food is great and I've never had a complaint... until now. I stopped in on Saturday to watch the Michigan game outside. They didn't have an outside bartender so it was closed, that's fine, we went inside to watch it. They open at 11 and the game was at 11 and this apparently was a problem. Now I was a bartender for YEARS and I know that if I work in a place that is showing college games of any kind I have to get to work even earlier than usual so everything is done and the TVs are set because the fans will be coming in about 10-15 minutes before opening. She didn't have any TVs ready and when I requested one she said she hasn't even bothered with the TVs yet because she was still counting her drawer... not my problem. Then we finally got a game on but there was NO sound in the bar because it wasn't working. The manager came out to fix the sound and he put on 80's music!!! MUSIC? Now I didn't expect the sound to be on a Michigan game, even though I was there first lol, but why would any sports bar play music during football games?? We ordered the 4-leaf clover appetizer and it was fantastic. Perfectly cooked mini angus burgers, mozzarella cheese sticks, fried mac n' cheese bites, and chicken strips. Pros: The staff seems nice, and the place is clean. Cons: It was disappointing that the entrees arrived when the appetizer did and even more disappointing was the food. Here are our (boyfriend and I) observations: -The refills on our drinks (non-alcoholic) tasted watered down. -BBQ Pork Egg Rolls: we had to ask for the dipping sauce (it was supposed to be served with BBQ sauce and ranch according to the menu.) Also, the egg rolls did not have coleslaw inside them as mentioned on the menu, which my boyfriend was super disappointed to find out. -Chicken and Dumplings Entree: it was extremely bland... not good. -French fries that were served BLT sandwich were plain, frozen, store-bought fries with no seasoning. Also, the staff still seemed to be learning the menu (understandable I suppose). I guess coming in on an opening night wasn't a good idea, but I hope that these reviews will be seen. Hopefully, when I give this place a second chance, I'll be able to update my review. I would recommend this place for the bar portion of it and just getting DRINKS only because the restaurant aspect of it wasn't working for me. read more

Food was mediocre. I ordered the Shepard pie. It wasn't warm all the way through...... That means it was pre-made and refrigerated then just sloped into my dish and tossed into oven. I don't want yesterday's Shepard pie!! The topping of mashed potatoes looked like and tasted like instant potatoes. My friend got the Ruben and he was not satisfied. It did appear that the corned beef they used was made there. However they didn't trim it well and it was very fatty. Soup was good, and fries tasted normal as well. The remodel of this place is nice, it's clean as should be expected since it's only a few months open. Nothing about it is pulling me to go back for another try. Although since I drive by it alot I'm sure I will be there again to try. read more

I don't understand any of the bad reviews on here it's a pub not a five star restaurant. The food is great, the beer flows and the staff is amazing. I come here as often as I can and always bring people who have never came who love. It's a small business who's won the heart of the locals with great service, great food, and loyalty to its customers. I used to go to the original McBrides all the time abd then I moved and our was a little too far. I am so happy to have this bar back with many familiar and friendly faces. They treat you right, they've got great food, great specials, and you can get your buzz on in the company of friends. Anyone who's given this place a bad review has a bug up their you know what. Came here on a weekday afternoon. Place wasn't overly busy so we had a nice quiet lunch. Wife ordered the reuben & I had the BLT Buffalo Chicken. Soup -french onion was good. We split our entrees. Both were excellent! Angie was our server & she did a great job! She even brought a free appetizer on the house. Dark wood decor, tastefully done adorned the walls. I enjoyed the large selection of craft beers. Many screens to watch sports . All in all a enjoyable stop. We plan to return. read more

I have been here multiple times and each time the food is spot on!! They always have specials, both in food and drinks. Food is fresh homemade and generous portions. I had the fish and chips and asked for a salad instead of Chips and its was great better than the fish fry in town. Good food and spirits The first time I've been to Mc'Brides on 52 was at the one in Joliet for a family dinner when my brother came back into town from Arizona. This place is located on Jefferson Street (which is also known as route 52, hence the name) in Joliet, IL. We chose it because... Decor/Vibe In the summer you are able to sit outside on the patio for dinner, and since at the time I went, it was so beautiful outside, we decided to sit out. The vibe gives very much just a place to go hang out with friends and catch up eat good food and have a drink. There are no booths just tables and high-top tables like any bar would. The scenery outside was not the best because we were facing the street and it was harder to hear each other with all of the cars passing by of the busy street. And the constant sound of the ambulance and police sirens. This particular day it was not too busy so we had fast service. you go in and seat yourself. The waitress was a sweet lady and very friendly and on top of our orders and anything we needed, when she greeted us she gave us complimentary chips and warm spicy jalapeno nacho cheese. Menu/ Food/Price The menu was mostly bar food but they had a variety of options of appetizers, burgers, salads, sandwiches, wraps, pasta's, and a few interesting entrees. The wings I ordered had an option of bone-in or boneless and come freshly made with a side of 4 celery sticks and an option of ranch or bleu cheese. The wings were hand-tossed in honey barbecue sauce and had a watery crunch when I bit into the first wing it was so flavory with the taste of the chicken and bbq sauce. The dessert menu was fairly small but it had some good options we chose the fried Oreos with ice cream. They were freshly fried and warm and did not get soggy with the creamy melting ice cream. This dessert was by far my favorite thing about my whole meal. The prices of everything were reasonable for what you're getting as far as how much food you get. Overall I recommend coming to Mc'Brides on 52 I give them a thumbs up and a grade B because the food is worth but the scenery could be a little more lively and not so much like your eating in the dark. I would definitely love to go back and order maybe the same meal or trying something new. read more

While my family members seem to enjoy this place I can't even get myself to go to trivia night. Not once, not twice, not three times... (you get my point) BUT every single time I have been there some piece of dinnerware has been dirty that is given to us. Once was my beer glass (literally had lip prints on it), once was a stack of appetizer plates (after several people took one my brother picked one up to find the next two just filthy and not even washed in the stack), twice it was literally the silverware wrapped in the napkins... Great spot for date night or even a family outing. Family friendly atmosphere. Great food quality, especially for the price. If your new to the area, a definite must try.
