Have time to spend before a Boardway show and walked around until we found McCarthy's Pub. The energy and vibe was welcoming as we walked in and we were seated quickly. The waiter was nice and helpful with figuring out what to eat. Of course we had to get the bangers and mash and the cornbeef sliders. The bangers and mash was amazing! The sliders were so good, a little dry but the flavor made up for it. I loved that they paired it with chips. I would love to go back and try other things from the menu. It was good!

Such a cute Irish pub we came in for a couple of pints on our first night in NYC. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They have quite a few good options for food I love truffle fries :) we will try to come back again whilst were here

Good spot in midtown for drinks. Bartenders were both friendly, as were the others around us. We didn't eat, but the menu looked good, and everything seemed reasonably priced. I wouldn't hesitate to come back again.

Only came here because I wanted Guinness and I needed something to eat before watching Oh Mary! The food...was okay. I got the Shepard pie and my fiancé got the Irish beef stew. They were pricy, but that's Times Square. The portions were pretty fair, but the beef in the Irish stew was dry and the ground beef in the Shepard pie was too tough. The potato layer was nice and soft, but overall I found the inside to be a bit too salty.

Cutest Irish Pub. Our bartender was fantastic! She was funny and attentive. Decorated for Christmas so super cute and cozy inside. Reuben sandwich is phenomenal. It's open faced and the corned beef is made in house.

I thought it was going to be more touristy due to it being so close to NYC. I was pleasantly wrong. I felt it was very cozy and authentic with the menu, decor, and live music. Service was quick and attentive.

While working in NYC stoped in with a coworker for a beer at the bar. The service was amazing Sean was very personable and suggested the shepherds pie on my next visit. I did and it was that good. The bar tender Amanda said if you liked the shepherds pie you should try our Irish stew next time And I did. It was amazingly good. Definitely try it. For being so close to all the busy activity in Times Square. McCarthy's staff were welcoming, very personable, and friendly like they knew you. Not fake. To top this off the best on tap Guinness I had. Not a disappointment. I went there four times and always treated excellent. Thanks Sean (who went back to Ireland for sports event) Amanda, Mikie, Liam and the staff for a great visit. And I bought their shirt!

Stopped in after a show. Food was amazing. The shepherds was so flavorful. I would've gotten a picture of the angus burger but my daughter devoured it. Servers were beyond attentive! We had two different servers checking in to make sure we were good. Highly recommend!! We will be back!

Made the choice (on our first night in NY) based on this very yelp page and the images of the Shepherd's Pie and Irish Stew. Let me tell you, they lived up to the hype! SOOOOO GOOOOD! Also, my picky 15 year old lucked out because the very kind staff made her an off-menu item grilled cheese with French fries to go along with her Shirley Temple Everyone was so nice and welcoming, the upstairs (open to the street) was such a fun vibe, and we truly just had the best experience!

Great service, very friendly staff that was very Irish. When we walked in it stunk like fish. Drinks were strong and much appreciated after the Times Square madness..

Surrounding TVs keep every play, fight and miracle replayed in glorious surround-sass while wooden tables beg for pitchers, pretzels and conspiracy theories about the ref. Whether you're upstairs for the 3rd floor vibe, mid-level for the perfect sightline, or down in the cozy den with the best acoustics, this is New York sports bar energy: loud, a little brazen, impossibly welcoming. One particular bartender, Delaney not only brings an awesome level of energy to the bar, she saunters in like a halftime show -- a grin that's equal parts mischief and welcome. She's all quick elbows and quicker comebacks, the kind of bartender who remembers your name, your drink, and that one ridiculous story you told months ago. Her laugh is loud, her wink is devious, and she has a way of making first-timers feel like regulars by the second round. Behind the wooden bar she's choreography: expert pours, theatrical muddles, and a flourish that makes every order feel curated. Delaney's drinks are personality-packed, with her behind the bar, the place doesn't just serve drinks -- it gets its personality back. Taking off a star because I had a weird experience with the people at the front. I'm currently recovering from an injury and I'm in a pretty obvious neck brace. I was visiting with two people who were on their way and would be arriving in about 10-15 minutes and the people at the front told me I couldn't be seated until they arrived. I understand that this is normal protocol, but I pointed out my neck brace and asked if an exception could be made because it's significantly more comfortable for me to sit down (and there was no room at the bar). They said that their manager wouldn't let them do that, and that they couldn't seat me until the rest of my party was there. There were tons of table tables available the entire time and when my friend arrived about 12 minutes later, they seated us, I totally could've sat the whole time and it wouldn't have been a problem. Not the end of the world and I probably could've pushed it harder, but it definitely was a little awkward!

We reserved for a quick bite at Redeye Grill before catching Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway, but as soon as we walked up, some bouncer told us they were closed for a private wedding reception. We were dazed and confused because how was I able to reserve online? But the real plot twist was that it ended up being the best thing that happened. We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too. My fish tacos were packed with fresh fish, the guacamole and salsa were chunky and full of flavor and hubs enjoyed his pastrami sandwich. I have no clue when we'll be back in Midtown, but one thing's for sure- we're sitting with Josiah again.

The shepherd's pie is insanely salty and it's very off-putting. It was inedible. I was looking forward to having it but I would not in good faith recommend this to anyone. The buttermilk tenders is supposed to come with pickled shallots and marinated green beans. We didn't get the pickled shallots or the marinated green beans, which was a shame. The chicken tenders by themselves didn't have much flavor. It also is unfortunate paying $17 for what was considered a small plate and just getting the chicken tenders. The Asian-sesame wings were okay. Also, didn't have much flavor and weren't that impressive. There was also still hair on some of the pieces of chicken, so the chicken could have been cleaned better. They have fries and hand cut fries. The regular fries were soggy. Should have went with the hand cut fries. The tater tots were okay. I was told that the chicken sandwich was good. It came with a little side of rustic chips. I would not come back for the food but I would possibly go back to try a drink if I was in the area. The drink menu looked pretty good.
