Servers/Bussers and the "Manager"... SHAME ON YOU! We live in the city and whenever we are around Times Square, my husband & I always stop by and hang out at this bar, we come here all the time. Yesterday however, we celebrated the World Cup Championship in TimeSquare, then we went into this bar. At the front we asked to sit upstairs, as we always like to hangout upstairs by the window. We had a Burger and drinks. We enjoyed our time for about an hour. While leaving we used the restroom downstairs, since the restroom upstairs were busy. I just came out of restroom and was waiting for my husband by the corner table by the stairs. My husband left our bubble-tea bag (Hey-Tea paper bag to be exact) that we were using to carry a boxed water, Bubble tea, sunglasses, and an apparently controversial Twisted Tea, still in the brown paper bag (inside the Hey-Tea bag). We actually forgot that we even still had that can, it was pretty much empty. One of the two male servers/bussers came past me, looked in my bag, decided he had the right to grab the can, and then threw it in their trash can. I asked him, "What are you doing, why did you just grab that from my personal belongings bag and throw it away? We were just about to leave. I was not even holding that can at all. It was just in the bubble tea bag. My husband is still in the restroom." I was furious because of the way he did. I don't care or mad about almost empty cocktail can. That male server completely bullied and humiliated me, I'm an Asian woman (I am 39 years old but I look younger than my age). He wouldn't do something like that to "other" races. He just assumed he would get away with it because evidently he can. Even another server guy joined the first one and they both bullied and humiliated me. When my husband got out of the restroom, he was also mad that they did that to me so he asked for their manager. The two server guys said the manager was at the front, so we came out and talked to the host. I reminded him that he saw us when we walked in, we had this bubble tea paper bag, but he just denied ever seeing us. He lied and said "I don't even know what you are talking about" instead of just admitting, being honest, and being a man. My husband then was actually triggered and yelled at them. Then all three men decided to choke us both out, pulling us very violently, even to me (a small woman) out to the street. It was disgusting and humiliating. They assaulted us. We are not letting them get away with this. We are pressing charges against them. We are the paying customers, we literally just spent money in this bar, and have many times before. These "men" have no respect for customers, especially women and people of color. Bottom line is they do not have any right to reach into a customers bag, especially a woman's. All he had to do is be civil, ask me what I have in my bag, ask me to discard it if need be, or leave the bar. Does he not have actual job to do than bullying, harassing , humiliating me? Obviously we were about to leave, since we live in the city, we know the rules, we're self aware, well behaved, classy people. Unfortunately the workers at this bar are extremely rude, assaulted us and don't have respect to the customers. You'd think the manager would de-escalate the situation, but he only instigated it further. read more

Have time to spend before a Boardway show and walked around until we found McCarthy's Pub. The energy and vibe was welcoming as we walked in and we were seated quickly. The waiter was nice and helpful with figuring out what to eat. Of course we had to get the bangers and mash and the cornbeef sliders. The bangers and mash was amazing! The sliders were so good, a little dry but the flavor made up for it. I loved that they paired it with chips. I would love to go back and try other things from the menu. It was good! read more

We stopped in here for dinner on a weeknight. It's a true Irish pub and the staff have the appropriate Irish accents. Of course there is Guinness on tap, and they had one of my most favorite pub dinners - Bangers and Mash! This dish was exceptional with sausages imported from Ireland, smooth mash, onion strings on top, and a rich brown gravy. Authentic as hell. My other half had a chicken quesadilla that she enjoyed and couldn't finish. Portions are definitely generous. With a Guinness and a Sam Adams, we were all set and left quite happy. Service was attentive and pleasant. Highly recommended. read more

Good spot in midtown for drinks. Bartenders were both friendly, as were the others around us. We didn't eat, but the menu looked good, and everything seemed reasonably priced. I wouldn't hesitate to come back again. read more

Only came here because I wanted Guinness and I needed something to eat before watching Oh Mary! The food...was okay. I got the Shepard pie and my fiancé got the Irish beef stew. They were pricy, but that's Times Square. The portions were pretty fair, but the beef in the Irish stew was dry and the ground beef in the Shepard pie was too tough. The potato layer was nice and soft, but overall I found the inside to be a bit too salty. read more

While working in NYC stoped in with a coworker for a beer at the bar. The service was amazing Sean was very personable and suggested the shepherds pie on my next visit. I did and it was that good. The bar tender Amanda said if you liked the shepherds pie you should try our Irish stew next time And I did. It was amazingly good. Definitely try it. For being so close to all the busy activity in Times Square. McCarthy's staff were welcoming, very personable, and friendly like they knew you. Not fake. To top this off the best on tap Guinness I had. Not a disappointment. I went there four times and always treated excellent. It was a friendly place with good service. I was there to catch the end of a World Cup game and was a good place to watch it.

This was my first time here which is wild because it's across the street from my job and pubs typically have great wings... and you guessed it, i'm a sucker for wings. Before a show, my mom and I stopped by this spot for some food. We were greeted warmly by the staff and taken care of the entire night. It was a very pleasant experience and the vibe was great in there. It was clean and made me want to come back for lunch when i'm working. I asked for extra crispy wings and for the buffalo sauce to be lightly added. They did it perfect. I was sooo happy i found a good wing spot. I'm sad they aren't closer to my home but I have two jobs on that street, so I'm in the area all the time! Can't wait to go back! :) read more

This is your standard multi-level Irish pub that you'll see in midtown/hells kitchen. We stopped in to grab a pre-show bite and to watch a soccer match. We sat on the ground level and ordered a few beers and some plates. The chicken curry with rice was pretty decent. Rice was a touch undercooked but the curry flavor was excellent, and I appreciated the generous portion, ample veggies and the fries on top. The flatbread special with salami was just ok. Not a flabread, but a more doughy mini pizza that reminded me of frozen pies from the grocery. Beer was good and the service was friendly and excellent. I'd say it's a decent choice for a casual stop for the midtown/times square area. Got bit up by mozzies while there, though I suppose it wasn't their fault. read more

We were looking for a meat and potatoes kinda place for dinner with a couple of my non adventurous coworkers so we decided an Irish Pub would be good. They have good reviews except for the service. And we experienced the same. We were created with in a few minutes and seated up stairs. It took a LONG time before anyone came to get us a drink order. And it took even longer to get our drinks. What stumped me was there were three employees standing at the bar talking. Doing nothing but talking. I asked for a refill of water twice and never received it. The burger and chicken wrap were reported to me as good but not great. But the curry sauce was absolutely amazing. And I mean amazing. Luckily there is no shortage of restaurants in the city to visit. I would willing go back if they worked on providing better service. read more

Got a ton of food. And it's just ok. Got French onion soup and it's just luke warm. Did not eat it and still charged for it. The wings just ok but not great. The chicken fingers are like frozen stuff they get from a food distributor and just ok, not great. The best thing was the non Irish chicken curry. Drinks are good but every time you order they come in different size cups. Wonder if the 14 dollar drink is a single or a double. But they charge the same. It was not that busy when we ordered as it was around 5 to 5:30 PM. Can't get refills on water and for $200 I would expect better. And if you spill something go get your own napkins as they don't come to the table to help at all. If you want good food in 2025 you may want to try a place down the street. read more
