My husband and I were visiting the area and wanted to find a good place for lunch along Mandeville Lakefront Park. I found McClain's on the map and checked Yelp. I have a sensitivity to gluten so I was delighted to find out they have a gluten free crust and a cauliflower crust. Today I chose the cauliflower crust and it was perfectly baked. My husband had their original dough and he said it was very good too. If you're looking for a fancy place, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a quirky little locally-owned restaurant with friendly and courteous staff and really good pizza, give McClain's a try. The main thing I don't care for is allowing dogs at the tables while eating, we watched a guy literally hold his dog in his arms the whole time while eating, to each his own, but while I'm eating, I don't care for it. Best pizza on the Northshore, hands down. It is closest to Magazine Pizza on the Southshore, for reference, if you're looking for something to compare it to in New Orleans. You can tell everything is fresh and made from scratch. Very tasty and very convenient as well as fairly priced. I'll eat it a couple times a month when I spend time in Mandeville every other wkend. If you think Fat Boys is good, you might not like this more, but if you think Fat Boys is just mediocre thin slice NY style (which it is) then you should enjoy McClain's WAY MORE. First time trying this place and two strikes: 1. Long hair baked into my pizza 2. We ordered a "Dylan's Snacker" along with a garlic breadsticks appetizer and it never came. In addition, my daughter's pizza took forever to come out in comparison to our pizza. I appreciate that our waitress took our hair-laden pizza off the check. But then we realized after leaving that we were still charged for the appetizer that never came. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and the ambiance is great! I've eaten twice here in the last couple of weeks. Food is ok, service not so ok. My first trip, it was around 50 degrees outside and they had all the doors open.
