I walked out of class today and had a flat, so I drove to McCoy's on McHenry, one of the mechanics saw me pull in and met me in the parking lot, took the keys and got started on the tire before I even got into the shop. We have the protection plan on my tires, which has been such a life saver considering it was only about ten months ago that I had my last flat! They always make bad situations soooo much easier. Everyone who works here is super friendly, incredibly efficient and all around wonderful. I'll never buy tires or get tire service anywhere else, and I HIGHLY recommend McCoy Tires, you will NOT be disappointed! Have had a few things done here. First was a diesel truck that had a brake issue and they had the same thoughts I did, a sticky caliper. They also did rotors/pads on this truck and bingo, problem fixed. Second was another truck and this one I had new tires put on, but also a basic checkup. This checkup ended saving me about $3,000 from another mechanic who tried to say my truck was in need of a lot of parts, most of them being front end bits, like ball joints, brakes, bearings, and other stuff. Because of buying my tires there and getting a checkup, I knew what shape my truck was in and they saved me. With the tires, the price was right, service was friendly and fast, along with lifetime roations. They will have all my business now for tires and brakes, or anything else that they can accomplish. Long story short the front staff is rude and they're prices aren't competitive. Go to Les Schwab instead. I was due for a tire rotation. I called first to see if there was a wait and the guy was just plain curt. And he didn't answer my question because he "doesn't do appointments and cant predict the future". So I stopped in and waited about 3 minutes for the front staff lady to stop talking to her friend who was visiting. She told me to wait. Then a man came in and told me it'd be under an hour. I was then informed that I had a nail in my tire and it'd be $19 to repair. I spent $700 on tires 6 months ago and they won't do it for free!!????!! I was shocked. So I took it to Les Schwab and they're doing it for free. And they greeted me right away. And they were nice. McCoy doesn't seem to value return customers since they make no effort to keep you once you're there. read more

I received service immediately upon checking in at the front desk, no appointment required! I am new to Modesto and have never serviced my car with a local Modesto shop, so I was a bit hesitant. I am happy I stopped by McCoy! Tire rotation and brake inspection were free! After the inspection, I was advised I do not need brake work, as I have over 50% of life left in pads. Very honest team. I have been going to McCoy Tire on 9th street for years. I figured I would give the McHenry location a try as it's closer to my house. I call up the day before to make an appointment for a brake job as I knew the front brakes needed to be done. When I called they said " We don't make appointments as it's first come first serve." I was like Great! The gentleman also proceeds to tell me he's their at 7:30 am. To say the least I was there at 7:15 am and chilled in the parking lot. No issue so far. As 7:30 hits I am the first one in and immediately I get a "What Do you want?" With this look and tone of utter rudeness. I take a step back for a moment and explain I was here for a brake job on my wife's car and before I can say anything else he jumps to the next customer who entered after me and proceeds to assist him. I again take a step back as I have NEVER EVER been treated in this manner EVER. After a few minutes he says "Can you leave the car?" I tell him no but I can wait as it's just going to be front breaks. He then shuffles off into the shop area and a few minutes later he comes through the front door with his break guy. This brake guy now begins to tell me with utter assurance that my brakes are fine and nothing needed to be done. I was like.... how is this possible when I have the keys and you have yet to pull it in and put it on the rack. Oh, I did a visual inspection and they are fine. Well what vehicle did you check as I haven't told you which is mine? He goes silent and and again tells me brakes are fine. I'm a mechanic by trade and know they aren't fine. I am about to lose my stuff here but again ask..... when can I get my brakes done? This is all I want. They then tell me you're just going to have to leave it and we can do it as soon as they can. I ask what happened to "First come First served?" We didn't tell you that as we always make appointments. I by now am to wits end and about to snap on both these idiots. Who then tell me I am the one who's mistaken and called the downtown location. So apparently now I am a liar as I am quite confident of who I called as I wanted to find a closer location. I left with no break job and I just had to walk out on these two Baboons! Long story short, I got my brakes checked and REPLACED AS THEY WERE BAD! Your BRAKE TECH IS AN IDIOT AND INCOMPETENT BABOON! YOUR COUNTER GUY IS A RUDE AND CONDESCENDING CORN FED AZZHAT! Randy and Scott from the 9th Street location would have never treated anyone like this..... they will keep my business. We have been coming to McCoy for years...years ago I took my car into a shop on McHenry further down by Walmart(will leave the name out of it) because of squeak/grind type noises I'd hear every time I turned right and they don't me something needed to be replaced and quoted me on it. Took it to McCoy to see if they could beat the price but instead they informed me nothing was wrong with it at all jusy needed some lube. Since then I knew they were honest and I take it there. There's been multiple times I've had them check my brakes and they tell me not yet when they could just as easily do them now. SHADY FROM BEGINNING TO END. Initially came here for a tire patch. Later that day I noticed the same tires pressure dropping. Waited a day and it went even lower. Brought it back and they said I had ran over a nail in the same tire(didn't show me the nail) and they had me pay for another patch because they had already done it. Then we talked about purchasing a set of tires. Told me they would be ready in 1 hour. 2 hours later they couldn't get the sensors to work. Told me it would be another $300 for sensors and they also broke one of my stock wheels' OEM sensors($115 sensor which I was NOT reimbursed for or gotten replaced). Came back the next day to have the new sensors put in. Told me it would take 45 mins. Hour and half later they said the sensors wouldn't register. Had me drive across town to their other store and said they would definitely get the sensors to read. They didn't. Had me bring back the truck and it will be another 2 hours to have the sensors I paid for that don't work removed. The tires I purchased have an aggressive and a less aggressive sidewall(nitto ridge grapplers). I asked for the aggressive sidewall facing out. I come home and one tire has the wrong sidewall facing out. Now I have to go elsewhere and pay to have the tire remounted to the wheel correctly and rebalanced and mounted. My brand new wheels also have scratches on them from being taken on and off the tires 4 times. IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME, SANITY, AND VEHICLE YOU WONT COME HERE. read more

Amazing service!! I asked to check my brakes and the alignment, they adjusted the brakes for no charge. Which impressed me, the alignment was a little off so they fixed that. Prices are really good. I will only do business with places that take pride in their service and this place defiantly has good service. I believe they wouldn't tell you something that needs to be fixed unless it really does. Many shops out there will sell you something you don't need. I took my car in to have them re-check the alignment and have my tire rotated, both jobs were performed by them earlier this year. Brad grudgingly agreed to re-check the alignment only because I had driven very little since they did it. I took off and got a phone call from Brad 45 mns later to let me know that they could not do the tire rotation because a lug stud on one of the tires was broken. I was told that it was cross-threaded during the last tire rotation (performed at the same place). They charged me $40.0 to replace it. I checked on line when I came home, a lug stud costs about $2.0 and I doubt that they spent more than 15 mns to get it out. I don't need to make any further comments on the level of integrity of local business owners. I know the competition is harsh and maybe you can come up with some ideas to beat the service at Sears (it shouldn't be very difficult). It is just too bad !!! read more

My brakes were squeaking, so my hubby took a look and said that it may just be time to replace, but rotors looked good. I stopped in on my way home to snag a price and they offered to take a look at my brakes at no charge. It took about 20 minutes from start to finish, but was told my brakes had about 50% on the front and almost full on back! Another company in town told me I better get brakes.... AND SOON! Worst place for follow up service. My girlfriend bought tires there went to get them rotated they don't check to see if tires are balanced or bent. let her leave with a bent rim that was 6 plus ounces out of balance. I took the car back there original paper work stated rear right rim slightly bent they said well we charge to balance again. I said that's not the issue the issue is you did not even check. many places when you buy tires do the balance and rotation for free for the life of the tire if you bought them there. 2004 Toyota 4runner read more

I highly recommend McCoy Tire. I visited about 10 tire shops in an attempt to find one that had the spline needed to remove my aftermarket rims because I didn't have mine. Something shady happened at McCoy and I can't quite put my thumb on it. One of the tires on our car was leaking air due to an embedded screw. This should be a simple repair right? The tires on our vehicle are of the highest quality Michelin and they have plenty of tread life left on them. The McCoy technician had our vehicle in the shop for approximately 1 hour, then came out and said the tire could not be repaired because there was "not enough tread left" on the tire to make a repair. If the tire was bald, or maybe approaching the end-of-tread life I could see them telling customers that repairing a tire at that stage could destabilize the tire and risk a future blow out. That's not the case here. Again, these tires have lot of miles left on them so I'm left scratching my head as to why they wouldn't repair it. Feeling that something wasn't quite right, we decided to take the car to another tire repair shop. The next tire shop (name withheld) pulled the tire and found the valve stem assembly had been stripped and damaged. This is also an electronic sensor system so the whole assembly needed to be replaced and the new shop had to special order the part. It was over $100 to repair, but low and behold they were able to properly patch the tire. In fact there were no issues whatsoever in repairing the original tire leak because the tire itself was in very good condition. I can't explain what happened, but I suspect the technician at McCoy damaged the valve assembly and then after realizing that this repair would be well in excess of what a standard tire repair would cost, he decided to give us some B.S. nonsense about the tire being unrepairable so we would move along and he wouldn't be out $100. Well we chose to leave and will not be returning. read more

Got some tires here a few years ago. The prices were not the lowest but still competitive. Today I go in for a rotation and they have me in and out in 12 minutes. 12 MINUTES!!! Sears would've been 90 minutes minimum. I'll be coming back to this place in the future for sure. read more
