I ordered a chicken nuggets kids meal. I remember the kids meal being fun... They're not fun anymore... They used to be generous and now McDs has cut costs like everyone else. The fries portions have lessened with about 10 fries in each meal. They now include apple slices for the health conscious, but I could do without... Just give me more french fries DAMMIT!!! This McDs gets busy since it's right off the freeway off Palomar Airport Road by the beach and the Carlsbad Premium Stores. Yep, I am Yelping McDonald's. This is what my life has come to! Ok, so I thought I would make a quick trip here today for a $1 Diet Coke. You can't beat the price but my beloved Diet Coke was barely worth the wait. They just remodeled this location so I thought it would me a smooth transaction, but wow, it was sooo busy. They have two drive through lines that merge into one and like any other merge in SoCal, it was a cluster. Soon after getting in line I realized the drive-through was a bad choice so I threw it in reverse but next thing I know, my backup camera reveals a parade of minivans pulling in behind me. I was trapped! After about 10 minutes I finally did get my Diet Coke but for all the gas I blew out of my car sitting there, I think that Diet Coke ended up costing more than $1. I didn't realize how busy this McDonald's get but I guess its because its close to I-5, the beach, the outlets, Flower Fields and Legoland. It seems like a lot of people drop by here on the way in and out of town. Anyway, although the line caught me by surprise, its about what you'd expect from a McDonald's. After a long night in my "AO" I had to make it back to the office and back down to Chulajuana for a business meeting. Pulling off the freeway for a quick bite, this McDonalds was right there. Going into the drive through I was greeted with friendly & expedient service. Ordering a sausage biscuit and a sausage egg mcmuffin, I was quickly processed and was back on the road. Making my way south on I-5 I could see why at least a fifth of the company's overall gross is from breakfast. For fast food on the go fare it was pretty spot on; nothing was over or undercooked, presentation was not above or below expectation, and the taste was just as expected (slightly better than just fine). That being said I won't be singing songs about Mickey D's (well other than that Big Mac jingle), but I won't be disparaging it either. read more

This place is filth. The health department needs to shut this place down. Just yesterday I stopped at the drive thru to order a hot mocha coffee . In the middle of a health crisis the person making the coffee wasn't wearing any food preparation gloves. Furthermore it seem she was touching everything she could during preparation. It was unbelievable. Then the person who was passing the food to people at the drive in window wasn't wearing gloves either. I asked him why not. He looked at me as if I were an idiot. So I got out of my car to walk-in and talk to the manager and I noticed none of the employees were wearing food prep gloves. I've called the health department in this place. (This review is speaking about the drive-through only) I've stop by this McDonald's a few times and I always hoped to give it a better rating, but can't bring myself to do it due to a few small issues. The food itself is OK. You expect a few things from McDonald's like good fries and a good Coke. I have yet to have a good set of fries from this location, and a few of the times the ice cream machine has been down. When they get your order right, it is a decent experience, but there are many occasions when the order gets confused or is messed up due to the split line system. This is literally one of the worst locations that I have ever been to. Every once in awhile I love to go to McD's for a simple meal or to grab a soft serve. Since I recently started a job where this location is on my way to work, I'll usually grab a quick little something as I head into work. I can't tell you how many times I've heard random people laughing over the intercom when I'm at the speaker box or order. I've even had moments before when I get up there and place my order and then the voice changes on me and I have to go and then replace my order. Myself and my three friends were heading home from a wedding and decided to stop for a quick bite at McDonalds. We went inside and ordered at the kiosk. Each of us ordered a meal and pressed deliver to the table. We picked a table and it took around 15 minutes for the first order to be delivered. Our server came and I proceeded to thank her. She was an older woman wearing glasses. She then repeated me and mocked my tone of voice straight to my face while shaking her head!! She seemed very irritated. We then asked if we should put our table markers next to a wall on the table to make it more visible and easy to spot. She aggressively said yes and grabbed our table markers slamming them on top of the wall. My friends and I sat shocked for a moment realizing what had happened. Our meals were also COLD. The next time the server came she continued to mock us. And two of the orders were never delivered to the table, but they were left on the counter by the register without us knowing. I have worked in food service, so I understand the stress and pressure she must've been under, but that is not an excuse! I was shocked and disappointed to be treated so poorly. Manager on March 23, 2023 5:20pm Thursday shift was awful. I would and will never come back to this location. To the owner: we placed a mobile order via the McDonalds app (4 cones) for pickup at the drive-thru. There is an option on the app to click when you arrive - we did not click it. When we arrived at the drive-thru the option to say were here was gone. The drive thru attendant did not see our pick up code in the system and referred us to this manager who also did not see it in the system. She asked us to place the order again which we had already been charged for. I got down from my car to show her the app receipt, my credit card charge, and all the codes sent to up from the app. With people in line now yelling at us for holding up the line she refused to do anything. I then drive around and went inside and showed another person the code and she DID recognize the order and said they had made it a while ago and that they were waiting for us. She brought out three melted cones. I asked for the manager and asked her to explain why we had to go through all that if the order had been there all along. She wouldn't let me speak, she implied that I was to blame and that if were within three miles of the location they fill the order, I became upset, she started to argue with me and said it wasn't in her system - not my fault. She said she had a job to get back to and i insisted on three new cones. She complied but mumbled something in the kitchen to the effect of "all this over three cones". Exactly! As a manger you should know that having your store take a loss in the cents for the three cones is preferable to losing a long time customer who would have spent hundreds or thousands over the course of years. The right thing would have been to take the time to see that they were indeed paid for and comp them - accept the technical issue on McDonalds side and move on. In the end you still had to make three new cones and the melted ones were thrown out. As a manager does that make business sense to you? As I drove away I called the store to get the managers name and they refused to give it to me and said I had to come back in person so....take the date and time above and find out what manager was on shift that day - that's who you need to have a talk with. She is the face of your business and this is how she represents you in front of your customers and it's the example she is setting for the employees that work around her. It's not how customers should be treated. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card on principal alone and I have already written to corporate in reference to her and your store and look forward to explaining everything in detail to them. read more

I went through the drive-through just before 9 PM to get food and the Hispanic girl who I dealt with could not stop laughing and screwing around on the other end of the microphone Long enough to take my order. Apparently, screwing around at work and ignoring customers is the norm here. I skipped ordering and drove up to the drive-through window to comment how irritated I was. So not only did I have to leave, pass through a mess of construction, I had to get a service fee of $3 just to pull cash out the ATM at a near by gas station. Food was less than basic. Fries were burnt as if they redipped them to reheat them. My buttermilk crispy sandwich was less than stellar. It was dry, hard, and smelled of mildew.
