I got a Diet Coke from the drive thru. Came back to the same McDonald's and ordered a burger and fry. I asked if they could refill my Diet Coke. They said no free refills if you leave and come back. First of all, the restaurant is spotlessly clean. And I use drive through and there is an older woman who gets the order right every time and smiles and is nice. I like this McDonald's and stop for an ice tea almost every day. NOW, I don't eat McDonald's food but they have the best ice tea! I just crush the price was better it's now $2.27 for a large ice tea when it used to be $1.10. I was a longtime patron of this establishment until now. All because they have removed all but 2-3 trash cans from their parking lot. Used to be 8-10. I used to be able to drive up to a trash can after eating my meal in the parking lot, but no more. This lot is full on any given weekday at lunchtime with people eating in their cars. I'm told the reason is because customers were also putting their personal garbage into the cans. So now what do we do with trash from your meals? I just had a most disgusting experience at the McDonald's on Waukegan Road in Deerfield. I used the drive-thru. Some young kid claiming to be one of the managers made my drink incorrectly but when I pointed out the problem he refused to remake it or apologize. I get this drink every day from a McDonald's and although a lot of times they don't know how to make it properly, it is always very politely corrected. This guy though, rather than correct the issue, insisted on refunding me the money. When I asked for his name, he told me he doesn't have to give me his name. McDonald's should be more careful who they hire. This guy is neither employee nor manager material. Certainly, it needs a person that knows how to deal with people politely, respectfully and professionally. After he handed me my money back he proceeded to wish me a great rest of the day and a wonderful Holiday in the most despicable phony way that one can imagine. That kid has big issues and he should not be working there at all. He would be a good looking guy if he wouldn't have such a disgusting personality and all I could think about was the horror I felt for any girl that should cross his path. I just might want to add, I am a daily customer of a McDonalds. I get this drink and more at least once a day, everyday. I will never again go to this McDonald's in Deerfield. Went inside for our happy meal because we had to wash our hands. Wow!!! There was a play room with a computer for coloring, a foot stop machine, a climb area, and a shoe cubby. Our minds were blown!!! And Ronald was sitting on a bench. The bathrooms are clean and easy for children to use. The manager helped me with my application order. McDonald's is McDonald's. The food is consistent regardless of which one you visit. I don't visit them often because I always feel their food is not the best or least calories I can find for lunch. That's why I was surprised to find the double cheese burger was only 400+ calories. (It's nice they show the calories next to the meal pictures but a pain that you have to keep watching the screen to see when menu items appear as they scroll through them like a slide show.) I was also surprised that this is definitely not your father's McDonald's. Check out the pictures. I was amazed by the interior. If you plopped me down in the middle of this place I wouldn't know I was in a McDonald's. It looks like a great place to grab a laptop and camp out. Or even a book. One of the craziest and disrespectful times of my life trying to order food! I approached the counter tonight around 9ish or so going inside and ordering. I talk to a very young gentleman who didn't even wait for me to speak before making a comment about my Biden pin I had pinned into my hat. "Another Biden supporter" was what I was greeted with. When I had asked him to elaborate he rushed me and just wanted to hear what I wanted to order. After me asking him what his deal was he started to get very racial and acted as if he owned the place. After me asking to speak with the manager he laughed and said " I am the manager" and stormed in the back to tell co workers it looked like. This McDonald's is in dire need of a visit from corporate management to do re-training and implementation of standards. The customer service is so bad - so terribly bad - that it's an embarrassment to the company. And, let's be frank, I'm not coming to McDonald's to be fawned over. On my most recent visit, I placed an order in the app and then checked in when I arrived and parked in the curbside spot. The app tells you that in most cases, the wait should be about five minutes. I sat in my car for fifteen minutes watching cars come into the drive-thru and leave with their food, which didn't make any sense at all. At the 15 minute mark, I turned off my engine and went inside to find out what was going on. An employee made eye contact with me at the counter as I walked in and then walked away without saying anything. I got her attention and told her I had been waiting for 15 minutes since checking in. She stood there, unsure of what to do, while the manager started asking her questions about my order and where it was. The manager, who clearly had her hands full, also couldn't be bothered to turn around and say anything directly to me. Neither apologized, but I finally got my order (the hashbrown was undercooked; everything else was standard McDonald's fare). On the visit prior, my husband ordered from the app and I went inside the store to pick it up because he didn't realize he needed to be closer to check in at the restaurant. No problem - the app says if you can't check in to let a crew member know and they can access the order. I did, and the crew member said there was nothing they could do and I would have to place the order again. This seems contrary to the app's instructions. Fast forward to having to dispute a round of charges from McDonald's because they couldn't be bothered to look up the actual original order with the confirmation number I had and then charged me twice. It's really just abysmal here. We most often order breakfast so maybe that's what we're doing wrong? The McDonald's on Skokie Valley Road has much better customer service and management of their processes. On our rare McDonald's breakfast mornings, we'll head to that one instead. read more

We ordered an ice cream cone, 20piece chicken nugget and got a medium fries and strawberry smoothie. On their app they offered a free medium fries with any order. Very nice looking McDonalds, but consistently one of the worst in terms of service and food. As this is located near several shopping center and business parks, this location can get pretty busy for good portions of the day. However, service isn't always the fastest, their machines seem to be down more often than others (especially if you're trying to use the app), the seasoning on the fries isn't always consistent, and prices seem to be a bit higher than other locations. An alright McDonald's if you need fast food in the area -- but other nearby locations are more consistent in food delivery. read more

In the past I used to have problems with this McDonald's location making small mistakes in my orders, from time to time. In the past two years, I haven't had a single problem with my order. They have way fewer inexperienced kids working here, than in past years, and many more seasoned employees who know their stuff. As such; the quality of the food, the quality of the service, the speed of the service, and the cleanliness & maintenance of the restaurant makes this my personal favorite McDonald's restaurant in the area. It's easy to get in and out of this location, with the main entrance/exit on Waukegan. It features two lanes in, two lanes out, and easy turn-about, and a timed traffic light. You can also exit through the neighboring Bank lot onto southbound Waukegan. There's a lesser-known additional entrance/exit on westbound Lake Cook in front of the Luna. There is plenty of parking around the McDonald's restaurant, including a second lot that's better suited for eating in your car. The lots are all well-lit, regularly patrolled by Deerfield police, have plenty of garbage cans, are nicely landscaped, and actually features some wildlife (there are several grey and black squirrels that live in the trees, and a number of birds who regularly stop here). The drive-thru recently added a second lane to optimize traffic (though they'll close one lane during off-peak hours). Their lit menus are very easy to read, the speakers are very loud & clear, and I appreciate the screens to help ensure they get your order correct. Their drive-thru staff are excellent - super fast, and always seem to get my orders right. If you do the online orders through the McDonald's app, there are 4 parking spots at the southeast end of the loop for pickups. You can also pick up through the drive-thru lane. I heartily recommend using their app to order, as its really easy to customize your order and they always have superior app-only special deals. They bring out your order just as quick as if you went through the drive-thru, and it's probably less prone to mistake if you put in a complicated order. The restaurant itself is fairly large, with a nice dining area. There's plenty of seating, in numerous sections, suited either for individuals or large groups. The restaurant is nicely decorated, featuring a gas fireplace that's sometimes lit in the winter. Everything is nicely lit with overhead lights, as well as big windows offering natural lighting in the daytime. The whole restaurant is kept meticulously clean, even after the lunch rush, and the bathrooms are top-notch. The counter has several registers, and can power through large groups in minutes. They have bright video menu boards, making it easy to browse. Their drink fountain features a consistently good syrup mix, with adequate-to-good carbonation. In pretty much every regard, this is one of the nicest McDonald's restaurants in the area. It's still a McDonald's; there are no Michelin stars, you're not gonna get a gourmet-anything here, and it's probably not healthy to eat here too often. I mean, c'mon... It's McDonald's. However; grading against realistic expectations of a McDonald's restaurant, and comparing it to the other locations in the area, this is definitely one of the really GOOD McDonald's. The only reason I am giving this Mcd's location the stars is because of the interior. You have to see it. Its decorated like a home you could find in Deerfield. A rich persons home. Imagine eating your double quarter pounder with cheese whilst sitting on a lounge leather chair. Your drink and fries sitting on an wood end table. Or.. sit with a group of your friends in front of one of the fake lit fireplaces. Is this kind of shit necessary?! There was only one order taker and a line inside so I suppose I should have waited in the double car line outside. Who knows? I should have left right there. Anyway after finally ordering I got a receipt with some big numbers which are used for your particular order. I looked up on the screen and I was the sixth person in the now TV screen line. Many folks were visibly upset as this line was taking much longer than the order line. Finally my number is called and I grab my bag and sit down to chow. I always loved their double cheese burgers and big mac's but both of these were barely warm plus their fries, which they are known for as being the best anywhere, were not hot... which made me HOT!!! Portillios is only about three blocks from this poorly run restaurant. The whole time I was choking down this barely warm crap I was wondering how in the world I talked myself into coming in here instead of Portillios which I love. Well my friend ordered a chocolate shake and that's what they gave us. We asked about it and let them know that we had ordered a chocolate one so maybe it got mixed up. I have no problem with this McDonald's when it comes to any breakfast items. I generally am satisfied with the food and the service during the day. I am writing this to warn you against getting that new Smoky double quarter pounder. Just thinking about this now makes me nauseous! It is extremely gross and a heart attack in one or two bites. There is nothing smoky about it. It's loaded with gross mayonnaise and a ton of tomatoes. It's a horrible sandwich and very expensive for nothing! There are also two patties that were very greasy. Like most McDonalds they went through a recent remodel. The location has 2 drive-thru lanes to keep up with high volume. I have only used the drive thru during the mornings but this location has always been efficient and the orders have been filled correctly. Food is consistent with Mcdonalds standards. read more

I live a few blocks away from this place, so like it or not, it's my McDonald's. I'm not a fan of the food, but as a guy with three kids, it definitely serves its purpose. I took my two oldest here the other day and we placed our order at the counter, like one does. The food came blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Look, you know the drill. But here's why I'm writing a review for my local McDonald's on Yelp: ANTS! My kids and I sat down at a booth. Quickly one noticed a couple of ants crawling by my foot. And the longer we all stared at those two ants, we started to realize the entire floor was moving. The floor space in our booth was literally swarming with ants. My kids screamed and we quickly relocated to an ant-free high top table across the room. Here's the kicker - I walked up to the counter to discreetly let them know they had an ant swarm, and the guy's reaction was a very loud, "AGAIN?!?!" He then proceeded to verbally dress down another employee in front of me and my kids and stand over her while she sprayed and swept up the infestation. I mean, hey, it's McDonald's. This isn't really a complaint. I'm perfectly comfortable eating in a restaurant that has an ant problem, and can work through the uncomfortable feelings one gets when watching someone yell at an employee in public.
