Do you really need to read reviews for a McDonald's? In case you think you do, this is a pretty typical one; however, they do have a few local options such as Taro Pie (1 / $1 instead of the typical 2 / $1) and a few other local style platters. The prices here are a bit higher then the mainland, but this is to be expected of the island. It is still cheaper than a McD. at the airport... One of the great things about McDonalds is at least the food is somewhat consistent. But the other things like service, attitude and store maintenance are up to the local franchise owner. This one needs to step it up to at least the minimal McDonald's standards. This is one of the worst MickeyD's anywhere for service and facilities maintenance. This is the Western most McDonalds in the US. Other than that, it is a regular Hawaiian McDs. They have the spam and egg breakfast platter and haipu and coconut pies. It's a great place to stop before or after going through Port Allen and you can't beat their $1 large sodas! read more

Came here for a quick lunch and milkshake. It's summer about 90 degrees out and the damn milk shake machine isn't working. The cashier says the smoothies are working so I order a medium strawberry smoothie, they later give me a small one and when I tell the lady who made the smoothie I ordered a medium she starts arguing with the cashier both speaking Filipino. Biggest reason for this review is the restroom situational. It's for customers only, fine whatever McDonald's, we know you don't need the money. But once you buy something, there is only one restroom, the other (that is clearly unoccupied) is for employees only. We visit Kauai once or twice a year. We frequent this McDonald's in Eleele because it's close to our house. The service is always outstanding (compared to the mainland). The folks are always polite and nice. The food is McDonalds.. therefore the -1 star. Other than that the Haupia pie is to die for! read more

This is strictly for the Haupia pie. I can't find this in California so when I saw it I just had to try it. It was so good that on my last day there, I went and ordered 16 pies to-go to bring back with me. Yes...I'm that person. LOL They made great souvenir gifts to friends and family as I got to bring back a taste of Kauai with me because they could just re-heat the pie at home. Even re-heating the haupia pie at home brought me back to Kauai. I definitely recommend getting the haupia pie if they have it. I hear about the taro version so hopefully next time i'm in Kauai, Hawaii or any other the other islands, they have it so i can try it. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS MCDONALDS.. I went there yesterday with my 5yo daughter and when we had gotten our food it was cold and on top of it the did not offer any kind of refund. When ever I go there their ice cream machine is "out of order" it has been like that for 8 months+. I cousin worked there for a little and quit soon after and said that they are too lazy to turn it on and get it set up right. I have given this McDonald's a ton of chances. They mess up far too many times. The soda is flat 90% of the time. The breakfast platters aren't bagged properly ( the workers don't hand it to you flat). I could go on and on. Granted they are always open (the only plus) I don't think it's managed well. read more

I had to try McDonald's for breakfast in Hawaii, especially since they serve Spam and Portuguese sausages! I also tried their taro pie. Overall, the breakfast was pretty oily and fatty, but what can you expect from McDonald's? This is the worst McDonald's I have ever been to. Anybody who lives on Kauai knows that there is slim pickings when it comes to eating out. Man! i used to come and eat at the Lihue Mc Donald's all the time. But this one night i went with my husband we decided to eat in for dinner while waiting for our food after ordering I can't help to see food and rubbish on the tables.There were other people eating in there so i'm assuming they got the cleaner table because all the empty tables where the dirty ones or no one wanted to go to them. Finally we sat down to eat and noticed that the worker put the fries on our napkins that they give on your tray with your food. Like really how stupid can you be? Isn't napkins suppose to help you with mess or clean up? How are we suppose to now with dirty, oily napkins. Wouldn't you want to put it where it won't. Then after eating i noticed on the other tables there were still trays and rubbish, cups on the dirty tables just laying there to where it was still there wen i left. None of the workers didn't even bother to clean it up or even check the tables. Most of the workers where talking, laughing and not doing anything or didn't even bother to clean it. The sad part was even the manger didn't even bothered to care. Normally it would be clean for ppl to sit and eat and relax. But i was shocked. normally i see the nana's in the morning cleaning making sure it's clean for ppl to sit down. But i guess the night shift don't care and that's sad. I went through the drive-through made my order and drove away. The man who took my payment was very professional, however the girl at the other window who thrust my food at me was very rude and abrupt. I don't expect a lot or really anything but common courtesy from a fast food worker. When I drove away I realized that I did not receive the correct order or even all of my order. So I had to come back, I went inside this time bc of a long line outside. When I came inside there was nobody else in line, so I walked up to the counter. I was carrying the bag and my receipt. There was a woman behind the register doing something, she looked at me as I came up and I smiled and said hi. She proceeded to walk away with not a word or a smile in return. I then waited almost three mins with nobody helping me while that same woman told the drive through girl that I was there bc of her. Neither one of them came to help. Finally, that same woman came over and said, "What." At this point I am very upset safe to say. I explain my situation and try to hand her my receipt for her to verify it. She turns away and says something to someone else who goes in the back. Then when she turned back she asks the person who just walked up behind me to step forward. Why was I treated this way? A lady from the very back had to come up to the front to help me. All I needed was a large fry and my snack size Oreo Mcflurry. I will never ever again come to this location. A customer should never be treated so poorly. Also, to let others know, it is very dirty and the food is always old and gross. I've gotten sick two times from eating there. Different things each time, I was hoping trying different food would give me a better chance not to get sick. If you live on this side of Hawaii, you will know why I kept trying it out. There is no other fast food place to eat at. And a person needs a fast food type place around when it's lunch time and you only get a 30 min break. I hope my review is helpful. read more
